JConcepts XB8’25 P2 Body

JConcepts has released its P2 body shell for the Xray XB8’25 1:8 Buggy platform with new Xray team signing and JConcepts team driver Dakotah Phend having tested the body at the Southern Indoor Championships.  The P2 design debuted in 1:8 at the last year’s Mugen Challenge and was then used at IFMAR 1:8 Offroad World Championship in Spain, having originally been created for the 1:10 racing.  Key features of the P2 design are a tall stabilising fin on the rear of the body as well as a small mini fin placed behind the rear of the cab that does not interfere with the engine head.  In the rear, the ramping feature that is so popular on the P2, creeps up behind the cab and engine head to create extra force and stability.  The P2 is offered in both standard and lightweight options and each arrives as clear polycarbonate with protective film.

Red RC TITC 2025 coverage presented by Hobbywing

Red RC is excited to announce that we are once again teaming up with electronic manufacturer Hobbywing to bring you coverage of legendary TITC electric touring car race in Thailand.  The 21st edition of the race, it has become one of the most significant Modified Touring Car races in world after the IFMAR ISTC World Championship and always sees manufacturers & drivers bring their A-game as they look to add a TITC title.  2025 looks like being one of the most exciting yet with a number of big story lines.  Sharing the honours of being the race’s most successful champion along with Atsushi Hara, the two World Champions having won it four times each, defending Champion Bruno Coelho will make his Infinity debut at the Infinity RC Addict track with an all new car from the Japanese manufacturer.  Ronald Volker, who came so close to retaking the title last year a decade after his one TITC win back in 2014, returns armed with the very fast new pre-production MTC3 from Mugen Seiki.  Debuting the car with a very competitive outing at the World Championships in November, the German is back in the form of his life and travels to Thailand fresh from a dominant performance over Michal Orlowski at MIBO International in the Czech Republic last weekend.  Orlowski is the other big story of this year’s race as the Polish ace makes his TITC debut.  As one of the best in the business, it will be interesting to watch how the Schumacher driver deals with the race’s unique ever changing track conditions.  Hobbywing has a 16-year relationship with the Thailand International Touring Car Championship, to give it its full title, and goes into the 2025 events as both the defending Modified and Open Brushless Champions.  Our coverage of the four day event will start on February 20th.

Canas takes late Montpellier GP victory

Sworkz Juan Carlos Canas has opened the European 1:8 Nitro Buggy season with victory at the Montpellier Grand Prix.  Previously winning the French classic in 2020, the Spaniard took a late win at the 19th edition of the race over World Champion Davide Ongaro and long time race leader Berkan Kilic.  Given its early timing in the season, the Circuit du MBM event has faced weather issues and this year was no exception with rain causing qualifying to be cut short and no track action at all on the Saturday.  While 5 rounds of qualifying was scheduled with 3 completed before the turn in weather on Friday it was Mugen Seiki’s Burak Kilic who secured the overall TQ with two rounds counting.  After sterling efforts by the club, the track being covered on Saturday, racing resumed on Sunday morning and in the Semi Finals it was the Kilic brothers who looked to have the edge.  Starting on pole Burak lead from his younger brother for the first third of the race until he suffered the first of two engine flameouts before retiring.  With Berkan taking over lead it wasn’t to be his day either with a late crash allowing Canas to go to the front with just 2-laps to go with the Team Associated of 2022 & 2023 winner Ongaro in tow.  After an hour of racing the entire podium finished on the same lap, Berkan completing the podium ahead of 2024 winner Ricciardo Berton, the Kyosho driving winning the Last Chance final to line-up 14th on grid before putting in a strong race up through the field.
