Tower Hobbies 224 Radio System

Tower Hobbies have released the 224, a 2-Channel 2.4GHz Radio System, which they claim is the most dependable surface system ever. Through the use of Spread Spectrum technology, this entry level pistol grip radio system virtually eliminates the chance of same-channel interference by moving the signal from one channel to another hundreds of times every second while the lightweight receiver responds only to the particular signal coming from the 224 transmitter. Mark Green retains Merlin Fuel backing

Following previous announcements by World and European finalist Mark Green, the multiple British National Champion has confirmed his final sponsor going into the 2009 season, Merlin Fuels. The Spanish company has backed Mark in previous seasons and continues their support with Mark having already tried their latest batch of fuel, which he says works really well in combination with his new Novarossi engines. The Serpent 966 racer has been testing recently and is pleased with both his car, engine and fuel, as well as the new light weight Xceed wheels, which he feels offers a big advantage, especially upon acceleration.

Elliott Boots to run VTEC tires

LRP have confirmed that top European off road star Elliott Boots has decided to run VTEC 1/8th off road tires in both buggy and truggy classes for the current racing season. After testing the tires and understanding the benefits of the complete VTEC tyre range, the RB powered Mugen driver decided to ink the deal for 2009.

Much More LiPo Saddle packs & IB5000 cells

Much More have announced some new additions to the battery range with the introduction of 2 new LiPo saddle packs and new IB5000 NiMH cells. The new LiPo saddle packs come in a whopping 6200mAh and 4400mAh, both with a 30C rating, providing enough horsepower for the most demanding levels of competition. Featuring a cool carbon look case, both packs are supplied with Tamiya connector with XH2.5 balancing plug. The new IB5000 NiMH have superior capacity compared to other cells, providing longer run time, with each cell carefully zapped with a CTX zapper for maximum voltage. Available in sets of 1, 4, 5, 6 and 24.

Surikarn Chaidajsuriya confirmed at Xray

2002 IFMAR World Champion Surikarn Chaidajsuriya has confirmed that he has signed a deal with Xray for the next 2 years. The former Hot Bodies factory driver had raced a Xray car at this years TITC, but a deal had not been struck at that point and so following some negotiations Surikarn will now race both electric and gas touring car, as well as 1/8th scale off road, for the Slovakian manufacturer. The Thai driver won the ITSC World Championships for Tamiya when the event was held in South Africa, but has struggled to recreate that winning form on the international scene in recent times, something a move to Xray will look to rectify.

TOP Racing Photon TC – Images

On Monday we brought you full information and CAD images of the all new Josh Cyrul designed Photon 190mm touring car from TOP Racing. With the ROAR Carpet Nats on this weekend, our friends at RC50.com who are covering the event went over to Josh and took a few detailed shots of the car, which we have here. Following qualifying Josh is sitting 3rd in Mod, proving that the car has a lot of potential, even before its release.

Pro Drive – Xray T2R Pro

The T2R Pro is the third incarnation of Xray’s successful Raycer series of budget touring cars. It’s based on the T2 ‘008/’009 platform and combines their racing pedigree with less expensive materials like glass fibre and aluminium to form what the Slovakian company think is the ultimate budget ra(y)cer.
