OfficinaRC Tungsten Smart Shims

OfficinaRC have added these new tungsten Smart Shims to their existing aluminium and brass Smart Shim offerings. Obsessed with quality and attention to detail, OfficinaRC say they have added the Tungsten version as a follow up to the successful introduction of the aluminium smart shim. OfficinaRC have applied a laser cut on the side of the shim in order that you can immediately recognise its size so you will no longer have any doubts and no longer need a caliper. The material used, tungsten, plays a fundamental role, increasing the weight by 8 time over the Alu Smart Shim so at the lowest point it can consequently lower the centre of gravity and make the car even more stable. Measurements are defined by solid lines with each line indicating millimetres. Offered as a pack of 8 shims they are available in 2 sizes: 3x6x1mm and 3x6x2mm.  The Tungsten Smart shim are designed by OfficinaRC in Monaco and made in Italy.

New Picco Oval venturi

Italian engine manufacturer Picco have released a new oval shaped venturi for use with .21 sized engines.  First seen as part of their recent P3TT Limited edition buggy engine release, the venturi is now available for use in all engines.  The ‘Oval’ venturi offers a progressive opening: the surface of a horizontal ellipse evolving more gently than the round opening of a regular restrictor. The result is that on a low traction track the engine has smoother acceleration for improved drivability and fuel consumption.

RC10B74 FT LTC Differential Rebuild Sets

Factory Team have released new LTC (low torque capacity) gear sets for the RC10B74 series buggies. Available in metal and plastic variants, these gear sets increase the drivability and traction of the Team Associated B74. The new design of high tooth count and smaller teeth allows for smoother differential action that won’t lock onpower. These gear sets come with the gears and shims needed for one differential. Test drivers report that with the new LTC gear sets installed in the diffs, the car tracks straight out of turns while allowing the car to rotate more freely in tight turns.

‘Black’ Avid Truss 1:8 Truck Wheel

Avid RC have announced that its popular Truss 1:8 Truck wheel is now available in black.  The wheel gets its ‘Truss’ name from the internal ribbing that uses the strength of triangles instead of having straight ribs.  The focus of the Truss starts at the centre of the wheel so the tighter triangles help keep the torque strength right where you want it when applying full throttle, at the nut.

Greiner retains European title after 2 year wait

Forced to wait two extra years due to the pandemic, 2019 1:10 200mm European Champion Dominic Greiner was able to successfully defend his title over the weekend with victory ahead of arch rival Dario Balestri.  Returning to the Gubbio circuit in Italy, the venue of his 2016 World Championship victory, retaining his European title comes as a huge boost for the German given 2022 is a World Championship year (Red RC will be travelling to Thailand to bring you extensive coverage from title battle).

After a successful & lengthy stint at Serpent, Greiner had switched to Patrizio Rossi’s Capricorn squad for the 2020 season but just as the world was forced into shut down due to Covid.  Having to wait so long to make his first major championship appearance for the Italian manufacturer, Greiner kicked off the 16th running of the EFRA European Championship with p4 in practice as Balestri set the pace for Infinity from up & coming Xray star Filippo Domanin and Dutch veteran Jilles Groskamp.

It wasn’t long however before Greiner hit the front to take the opening qualifier.  With some mistakes in Q2, Balestri going on to take that qualifier, he was back on top in Q3 & 4 to secure the overall Top Qualifier honours.  With 2 time EC champion Balestri booking his spot directly in the main 45-minute final by taking the Super Pole, he would be Greiner’s main challenger.  After initially applying pressure before making an early tyre stop, this would give Greiner an advantage he wouldn’t relinquish.  Posting the fastest lap of the final, he would win by over 10 seconds from the Italian.  Capricorn would enjoy a podium double with Thilo Diekman claiming third ahead of the Infinity of Carmine Raiola.
