A while ago we wrote about the DB12 from BMI Racing when they released images of their prototype 1/12th scale car, well now they have released images of the production version that will be released soon. This car made the A-main at last weekends Snowbirds in the hands of Jason Schreffler having only managed to get 1 day practice with the car before the event, which is a great achievement in such a competitive category.

During our round up of the off road vehicles on show at the Nurnberg toy fair we mentioned the new 1/8th scale buggy from HobbyTech called the STR8, but didnt know much more about it. Well here is a video of it in action and the producers have made it look pretty good, with some rap music and slow motion air shots, i have to say it looks good. Check it out in the video above.

Last week we suggested that the partnership between Kyosho and Star Motor Engineering, makers of Sirio motors, may be on the rocks following constant rumours suggesting so and the fact that their 2 World Champions had stop running their motors. In an interview with Italian website Unoadieci, Andrea Rossi set the record straight and suggested that these rumours were aimed to cause damage to the companies reputation and the partnership between itself and Kyosho and cause doubt in the market. He says that the working partnership is as strong as ever and their team will remain the same for this season as it was last season with the exception of Adrien Bertin. He also took the opportunity to state that their competition engine development continues with the release of 4 new motors for on road and off road.
UPDATE: Just when you think everything is pleasant in Sirioville, RMV Deutschland, who are heavily involved with Kyosho Europe, have issued a statement on their site stating that as of last Sunday their contract to supply Sirio ran out and that they no longer wish to continue selling their products and will instead only concentrate on RB Products. I know this report is a little bit late, with the Magma race having taken place last month in Canada, but Xray have only now posted a report. Along with the local hotshots at the Fastcat R/C track, some top talent from the US made the trip up such as Baker, Easton and Dayger which made it a very special race. In the Mod and 19T class it was Baker who was setting the pace getting TQ for both and then managed to convert that advantage to wins in both classes. Billy Easton ended up in 2nd in modified followed by Keith Yu while in 19T Martin Crisp ran home 2nd followed by Keven Herbert in 3rd.

According to the website of the TTech Racing, the company has changed ownership and are now owned by a company called Xtreme-RC. The company that makes the rather unique and very technical looking X10 and XRS 1/10th scale buggies will now be better promoted and will hopefully have the extra cash needed to turn it from small company to major player in the off road RC car industry.

Atomic RC have once more presented us with another neat product to improve your mini scale racing. Presenting their new, and as yet unreleased, Evolution Motors, they will be available in both modified and stock versions called the Chilli and the Stock-R respectively. Each high performance motor will also sport new features such as their advanced end-bell and brush system and an air ventilation system.

I guess I’m not as up to date on the tire sponsors as i should be, and in buggies it is quite difficult to follow, as it seems i didnt notice the fact that European Champion and Xray team driver Yannick Aigoin has made the switch from Pro Line tyres to GRP. This news came to everyones attention yesterday as he was seen sporting the new rubber, as well as new GRP team wear, at this weekends Montpellier GP. RB Products, for whom Yannick works import both the Pro Line and GRP ranges of tyres into France.

In the warmup race for the 1/18th scale off road Race of Champions held at RC Madness in Enfield, Conneticut in the end of January, Zack Barry dominated the event driving an Xray M18. Zack had troubles in qualifying but managed to pull it together and take the pole in both classes and then went on to win in both classes too.
Zack entered in two different classes, running his Xray M18T in 4wd truck class , and his M18MT in the mini-monster class. In the first round of qualifying he had a rough time , not completing either race. In the second round ,he came back and set the TQ in both classes , and had the only 20 lap run of the entire event [in any class] with his M18T. Zack went on to take home the first place trophies in both classes.
