Protoform PTzero1 190mm Touring Car Body

While no longer the dominant racing invested touring car body shell producer it once was, Protoform has just released its latest competition 1:10 Electric Touring Car Racing offering, the PTzero1.  The high-downforce, low-profile aerodynamic body shell has been engineered to meet the demands of today’s blisteringly fast 190mm touring cars.  Returning on the PTzero1 are PROTOform’s signature Mounting Marks inside the front wheel arches, allowing you to choose your body positions in 2mm increments up to +8mm.  In addition, there are markings on the hood and rear bumper to easily line up your body posts.  The included decal sheet features protective decals for body posts to enhance durability.  This body is designed to meet Global Body Spec rules and is made in the USA from high-quality, super-durable polycarbonate. It’s available in two weights: PRO-Lite (0.5mm), and Light Weight (0.65mm).  Included with the PTzero1 are PF’s   convenient plastic wing buttons and under-wing “nuts”, with M3 mounting screws. A decal sheet, window masks, and overspray film complete the package.

Prumper announces Yokomo departure

World Championship finalist and multiple ETS race winner Yannic Prumper has announced his departure from Team Yokomo.  Making the announcement on his social media, the German posted, ‘After many wonderful years as part of the Yokomo family, it is time for me to bid farewell.  I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such an amazing team.  My time with Yokomo has been nothing short of extraordinary, and I’ll always cherish the memories and experiences we’ve shared.  With Yokomo, I achieved some of my greatest successes, including 3 of my 4 ETS victories.  These milestones would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the team, the amazing cars, and the invaluable guidance I received throughout the years.  A special thank you goes out to my teammates and especially to Christopher, who has always been a constant source of great competition but also a very good friend beside the track.  Your camaraderie and dedication made this journey unforgettable.  Although this chapter is coming to an end, I will always carry Yokomo in my heart and wish the team continued success in the future.  Thank you for everything.’

2024 SIGP Offroad Chassis Focus Index

After a 4 year break, the last SIGP Offroad Race being held in 2019, China’s top annual international offroad race returned with its best entry yet as three World Champions made the trip to the former 1:10 Offroad World Championship host track in Xiamen.  With almost 100 entries in Nitro Buggy and 53 in Electric Buggy, racers’ biggest rival of 2024 will be remembered as the track, even the best in the World describing it as their most challenging race of the year.  While the European visitors dominated, Italian Mattia Polito really impressing and putting on a great show in the final against a certain Davide Ongaro, we had the opportunity to include the Ming Yang buggy of 2023 FEMCA Champion Jeff Wang in our Chassis Focus.  The Taiwanese driver was the top Asian qualifier and finisher, coming home in P7.  Featuring buggies from Team Associated, Sworkz, Xray and Mayako, we were also able to photograph each of the podium finishing eBuggies.  One buggy we couldn’t include in our Chassis Focus was the WIRC of 18-year-old Italian racer Gabriel Astorino, both his Nitro and eBuggy running new front hubs that are set to appear on the Italian manufacturer’s 2025 kits early next year.

Power HD Balance Weight Crawler Servos

Power HD has released a new Crawler servo series that includes two Balance Weight servos. The cases of WT162 and WT120 are made of pure brass material and can be used directly as balance weight servos.  When used in a simulated crawler frame designed with a servo on the beam, the weight on the beam can be heavier and the posture of the whole car can be better.  Used in a competition performance crawler frame designed with a servo on the bridge, the weight on the bridge can be higher and the crawling performance can be better.  Both WT162 and WT120 use brushless motors and support the Flysky i-BUS2 protocol. The servo status can be directly observed on the Flysky NB4 series radio in real time, and the servo parameters can be programmed on the radio.  WT80 and WT85 use aluminium heat sink case, and the servos on various crawler frames have strong torque and speed, and the performance is also excellent.  WT series servos are all made of steel gears, IP67 waterproof, durable, and can be used in various environments and perform well in 1:10 and 1:8 simulation crawlers and competition crawlers.

Sontag exits TLR/Horizon Hobby

Reigning 1:10 2WD World Champion Tater Sontag has announced his exit from the TLR/Horizon Hobby race team.  With team-mate Dakotah Phend subtly confirmed his departure from his career long sponsors TLR on Sunday with a post that simply read, ‘Bittersweet moment coming up in the next hour for the US Open Nitro Buggy main, Tater gave more detail on his departure from the manufacturer and Horizon Hobby owned Trinity and Pro-line.  On his social media the 17-year-old made a widely expected posted saying, ‘This is a post I didn’t see coming in my near future. As many already know headed into 2025, I will no longer be representing TLR, Trinity, or Pro-Line. TLR took a chance on me when I was young, and since then I’ve grown so much as a racer/person, and they’ve helped me all the way to winning a world title. It’s been an unbelievable journey that I only dreamed of growing up. Proline being my longest lasting sponsor dating back to 2015 when I got my first deal, TLR’s been by my side for the past 8. I cannot thank everyone enough for the help along the way (I won’t name names in the chance I leave out a name) and only wish the best for all the companies in the future. As far as what my program will look like moving forward, stay tuned as announcements will be coming soon. I’m extremely excited to see what I’ll be able to do with the new program, see everyone at clash.’
