Associated SC8 Short Course Race Truck

Team Associated have officially announced the SC8, the first 1:8 scale, nitro 4WD offroad, authentic race truck replicas. Each SC8 comes decked out with one of four fully licensed race truck bodies, wheels and tires, designed to look just like the full size race trucks that run in short course off road series around the country. The world of high-performance R/C has never before seen this level of scale accuracy. Starting with the championship winning RC8T truggy platform, the SC8 was designed to meet the scale specifications of the full size short course race trucks. It’s all there, from the scale suspension travel, to the roll-cage tube diameter, to the functional mud flaps. The result is the SC8, a creation of an unparalleled scale experience at a level of performance that has never been seen before in true scale.

Losi 8ight Brushless conversion

Electric-oriented modelers eager to drive Losi’s renowned 8ight or 8ight-T are going to love this new Electric Conversion Hardware Kit . The kit converts the nitro-powered 8ight family of products into an electric-powered ride. The hardware kit includes a molded battery tray and straps for up to a 5 cell LiPo pack, radio tray, aluminum motor mount, 2 pinion gears (1 for buggy, 1 for truggy), spur gear and all screws and washers needed to mount the components to the chassis. Also released from Losi is their new 1/8-scale 1700Kv Xcelorin Sensorless Motor and Electronic Speed Control Combo will convert any 8ight-based race or RTR vehicle into an electric vehicle.

FTX Voltz LiPo Battery Packs

FTX have released more new LiPo batteries into their Voltz range including this 4800mAh saddle pack, which is suitable for vehicles such as the B44. Also new are high capacity LiPo receiver battery packs, available in hump and straight pack configurations, as well as packs for 1/18th vehicles such as the FTX Blaze and AE RC18T.

VRC – Tip of the Month

VRC Tip of the Month

VRC is a simulation of radio controlled on-road nitro racing cars, scales 1:8 and 1:10. As with every simulation, to reach absolute realism isn’t possible but we are proud to say that we have come pretty darned close with VRC! One known psychological effect of this trying to make something as close to reality as possible is that users seem more and more focussed on finding the differences. That it why a lot of sims simply give up on trying to move closer to reality, in fact some do the opposite. Big companies who are involved in robots are deliberately staying away from trying to make their robots look human and make them look like robots or cartoon figures. Even Nintendo has gone this way with Mario Kart.

LRP VTEC Kamikaze super soft tires

LRP have released the next compound of its Kamikaze 1/8 buggy tires line. The LRP R&D team and team drivers have specially developed a new super soft compound to achieve maximum performance during a qualification run or while racing in cold conditions. Testing has also shown that this tire is the best choice for racing in wet conditions. The VTEC Kamikaze pattern, the new VTEC rubber compound and the molded insert tames any surface the off road scene can offer.
