Serpent S120 Front end assembly

Serpent have released the front end of their S120 car to be used on other 1/12th scale cars. Featuring 11 different adjustments to help you get the most from your car, all of which are easy to adjust and measure. Fixed lower suspension arms are themselves damped by the central strut which uses rubber o-rings to take up the flex in this area, while the grey anodised aluminium front upper wishbone mounts are available in different caster angles, the car being supplied with 6 degree versions as standard. With the steering block king pins spring loaded, the cornering forces are channelled through the upper wishbone, which enable the car to corner at high speeds.

Serpent 966 1/8th scale chassis

Serpent have release some CAD images of their new 1/8th scale chassis, the 966. Retaining the same front end as on the 960, the main innovations happen at the rear end where there is a completely new assembly. More accessible and stronger, the rear bulkheads are made from aluminium and sport a seperate set of blocks for both the 2-speed shaft/brakes and the lower suspension arm mounts. The rear axle eccenters have been made from aluminium and together with the anodising, the new materials help to create a perfect alignment for all the moving parts. Other changes include a carbon fibre upper suspension arm mount, new chassis plate & chassis stiffeners and updated, smoother shock absorbers.

Serpent moving production to Asia

Serpent moving production to Asia

We have received the following statement from Dutch company Serpent MRC outlining their latest restructuring plan. An established company, in existence for over 25 years, it has had to release this statement to counter other unfounded reports of their demise that started to spring up on the internet last night. The release states that the company is still going strong and has in fact only moved all of its production to Asia, which will have an effect on how distributors will purchase their products. Their headquarters in the Netherlands will continue to operate, but will now only handle R&D, Sales and Marketing.

Serpent S120 1/12th scale

Serpent S120 1/12th scale

Kept under wraps at the Toy Fair back in February, Serpent have just released the full information on their long awaited 1/12th scale chassis, the S120. The S120 chassis consists of 2 main elements, the 2.5mm thick carbon fibre chassis plate and the rear single piece aluminium motor pod. The chassis uses a T-bar system, which has adjustable tension thanks to its unique tweaking system is damped using a conventional centrally mounted shock absorber together with a laterally mounted floating monoshock. The front end of the car is completely adjustable and utilises the now standard fixed lower suspension arms combined with active top wishbones, which together with kingpin mounted springs ensure that the car is able to corner at high speeds and soak up any small bumps found on the racing surface. In shops early August.
