Shepherd Velox V8 series upright inserts

Available now from Shepherd are new composite upright inserts for the Velox V8 and V8.2 1/8th on-road cars. The inserts are coming in eccentric and centred variants to have the additional possibility to use smaller ball bearings for significant weight-saving reasons. Compared to the previous aluminium inserts, these composite option parts are characterised by an optimised fit, a lower weight and a better durability. They are available as a set of four centric and four eccentric inserts or as a set including eight 12x18x4mm ball bearings.

Shepherd V8.2 carbon aero discs

Coming from Team Shepherd and made for their new Velox V8.2 are these new carbon aero discs. Made from high-quality German carbon material they are sold as a pair for the front or the rear upright. The aero discs for the front feature an elliptical shape, so when using the optional eccentric inserts the aero discs keep sufficient distance to the inside of the rim. Reports from our team drivers confirm an increased feeling and sensitivity in fast corners.

Shepherd Velox V8.2 M0.8 spur gears

Shepherd have announced the release of their new 0.8 module spur gears for the Velox V8.2 1/8th on-road kit. They feature a completely re-designed shape for maximum stability and true running while keeping the weight in the same range as the previous gears. The spur gears are available in 60T, 61T and 62T variants for the 1st gear while the 2nd gear is available as 56T, 57T and 58T variants. Furthermore the new spur gears will be included in all future batches of the V8.2 car kits.

Shepherd Velox V8.2 1/8th nitro on-road kit

Following a couple of teasers and drops of information Shepherd have officially announced the release of their new Velox V8.2 1/8th nitro on-road kit. Based on the World and European Championship winning Velox V8 “WC” platform, the latest development is characterised by the use of high quality materials as well as precise manufacturing and comes easier to maintain, lighter, better and even faster. The completely new designed chassis with improved flex characteristics and optional carbon fibre inserts allows for better aerodynamics through a closed chassis bottom. Pronounced chamfering gives even more room for chassis movement during fast cornering and additionally the chassis has cutouts for balancing tools in the front and the rear. The smaller battery holder fits logically into the lines of the vehicle.

Shepherd sign Rico Kröber

Shepherd have announced the signing of German 1/10th on-road specialist, Rico Kröber to their team. The former WRC Racing pilot will campaign Shepherd’s Velox V10 Nineteen 1/10th 200mm nitro kit both at national and international events and he has the following to say about the move:

I am proud to be able to start this season for Team Shepherd with my Velox V10 nineteen at national and international races. Already over the winter I was super integrated into the team and already worked out ideas and exchanged experiences. I’m looking forward to intensive testing, successful races, and working together in this great team. I would like to thank Thilo Tödtmann for his effort and Patrick Schäfer for the opportunity.

Shepherd Velox V8.2 1/8th on-road kit – Coming soon

Shepherd have released more detailed information and images of their forthcoming new Velox V8.2 1/8th nitro on-road kit. The biggest update to the previous model can be spotted at the front which was completely redesigned to add more setup possibilities without sacrificing the proven geometry. The new lower wishbones can be attached in three different positions to adjust the arm length while the overall wheelbase can be changed by 2mm. The redesigned top deck offers a completely different flex characteristic for the front end while the rear flex system has been simplified by removing the small ball bearings. The front upper hinge pin brackets can be connected to the new front bulkheads to add further flex options.

Shepherd V8.2 shock absorber springs

Shepherd have introduced their new V8.2 shock absorber springs. Able to refine the spring characteristics following numerous tests on racetracks around the world, the new springs where used for the first time at an international event at last weekend’s EFRA GP in Vigo, Spain where team driver Toni Gruber took the win. Available now as a pair separately for the front and rear, in future they will become the kit springs for the upcoming Shepherd Velox V8.2 set to be released at the end of April.

Shepherd tease Velox V8.2 1/8th nitro on-road kit

Shepherd have released a first teaser image of their forthcoming new Velox V8.2 1/8th nitro on-road kit. The car will feature a completely redesigned front end including new lower and upper arms, steering hubs, lower and upper hinge pin mounts as well as an aluminium servo saver and other details. The steering hubs are equipped with mounting holes for optional front carbon aero discs and the upper hinge pin mounts can be connected to the bulkheads to stiffen up the front suspension while the lower hinge pin mounts feature three pin positions, changing the front lower arm length. Additional setup options come in the form of new lower arms which allow to change the wheelbase by 2mm and also the front upper arms have been updated. With modern 1/8th race bodies getting longer and longer, the front bumper has been updated to give additional support. New to the V8.2 is a redesigned chassis plate that can be equipped with optional carbon inserts to optimise the airflow on high-speed tracks. A smaller and thus lighter front aluminium servo saver and redesigned gearbox bulkheads complete the visible changes. Furthermore the kit will feature some high-end racing parts as a reverse clutch, light aluminium wheel axles and rear CVD driveshafts. More details on features such as the optional battery position and chassis weight kit will become available closer to the release which is planned for end of April.
