Zen-Racing have launched a new rear pod assembly for the most popular 1/12 cars on the market. The rear motor mount and suspension part is made from high-quality 2.5mm carbon fibre and aerospace-quality aluminium. It is of a full box design to keep the pod rigid and square under the extreme forces of the modern brushless motors. Existing rear pods with plastic ride height adjusters can distort under the torque from the motor, the Zen option stops this and it also incorporates a sliding ride height adjustment for the rear axle doing away with the need to remove the shaft to adjust the ground clearance. An optional carbon shim set is also available offering adjustment steps down to 0.15mm. The upgrade part is available for Associated, Yokomo, CRC, Serpent and other chassis.

Neil Cragg secures 2013 BRCA 4WD buggy title

A win at the recent BRCA 1/10th off-road nationals in Stotfold secures Team Associated’s Neil Cragg the early win of the 2013 BRCA 4WD buggy title with one round remaining. Neil has scored maximum points in three rounds so far and can complete his 17th BRCA National Championship with a perfect score at Oswestry in the final round. Leading the points in the 2WD category entering the final round, Neil is in the driver’s seat to capture his second title this year.

Developed in Europe and designed specifically for very high-traction surfaces, the Centro C4.2 Mid Motor conversion for the B4.2 features a hard aluminium one-piece chassis, and an all-new moulded gearbox and bulkhead assembly that positions the motor in front of the rear wheel centreline, creating a centralised weight balance. Avid is busy adding more option parts to their range of after market parts. First up is the motor centering kit for Team Associated’s B4.2, T4.2 and SC10.2 line of off-road vehicles as well as the respective predecessors. The parts are designed to overcome the imbalance issue often associated with the vehicles that are heavy on the left rear, which also makes an imbalance on the front tires. By shifting the motor, motorplate, and slipper 5mm towards the right, the balance is restored close to 50/50 for a more predictable handling. Along with the improved balance also goes a 6.7g weight saving. The set includes a 5mm aluminium spacer, 5mm slipper spacer, and stainless steel mount screws.

Yaiba Racing now offers special option parts packages for the Team Associated B4 and Kyosho RB6 buggy. Starting with the B4 Base Set, included are several red anodised and laser-etched aluminium parts such as big bore shock mounts, front kingpin brace, front bulkhead, steering bellcranks, battery trap thumb screws, rear chassis brace and a motor plate. The RB6 Complete set is available for mid and rear motor cars and includes steering bellcranks, a steering rack, the graphite battery plate set with alloy posts and thumb screws, RF and RR wide suspension mounts, the specific rear bulkheads and a motor plate. JConcepts introduce their new ball-cup assortment for Team Associated 1/10th off-road vehicles. They are of a heavy-duty design and come as wedged and rib type. The wedge ball-cup has an increased diameter around the turnbuckle which naturally provides a beefy cushion between metal and plastic plus the cups feature a longer boss which slides over the solid shank of the turnbuckle increasing the overall strength of the connection. Included is an angled version of the wedge which can be used on the outside of the rear camber link for increased clearance on the rear wheel and also to the inside which increases clearance around big bore shock springs. The rib ball-cup is a more traditional design but incorporates 3 ribs across the weakest point resisting bends and tweaks normally associated with hard crashes. A short, rib ball-cup is also included for servo to steering bell-crank connection. Both the wedge and rib ball-cups include an open top which allows for ball-end accessibility for quick and damage free adjustments and they come as 36-piece sets.

Announced some time ago and finally shipping next week is X Factory’s latest evolution step of the X-6 buggy, the X-6 Cubed. The buggy that broke the mould for modern day mid-motor vehicles received a huge make over and is now based on a slim carbon fibre and aluminium double deck chassis for optimised weight distribution, better cornering and improved jumping characteristics. The chassis is designed for the use with saddle or shorty LiPo battery packs, it features a new tower forward design to bring the rear shock tower forward for an improved shock position and to relocate the rear wing and the kit makes use of X Factory’s known 4-gear transmission. The Cubed will become available as conversion kit for existing Team Associated B4, B4.1 and B4.2 buggies as well as an upgrade kit for X-6 Squared vehicles. Included in both packages is a redesigned body shell and new medium downforce rear wing.

Yaiba Racing from Japan have two new carbon fibre option parts for Team Associated’s B4 line of buggies available in the form of a multifunctional ESC tray and a LiPo battery strap. Starting with the tray, the mounting platform for electronic speed controllers is designed to rest on the rear bulkhead of the chassis and allows the mounting of the speedo above or below the tray. Beside being a simple platform the carbon fibre part also offer openings and mounting positions for a large 40mm fan allowing for very good cooling even if the speedo is sandwiched between the chassis and the battery in its lower position. But the cleverness doesn’t stop there. The part comes with an add-on aluminium battery stop for shorty LiPo packs to make sure the controller is perfectly secured and the battery stays in place. The second new part is a 2mm carbon fibre battery plate in short specification for the use with all standard and regular length 2S LiPo batty packs. The part is designed to fit all B4-based vehicles and is useable with the stock or aftermarket thumb screws.
