Kaerup is 4WD Worlds Top Qualifier

Team Associated’s Marcus Kaerup is the Top Qualifier at the IFMAR 1:10 4WD World Championships, the Danish star securing pole position for the today’s finals with a third TQ run in the fifth & final round of qualifying as the 40th anniversary of the Worlds reaches its final day in Australia.  With the running order reversed for Q5, the top seeded heat up first, Kaerup set the pace topping the group from Xray’s Dakotah Phend and defending World Champion Davide Ongaro.  Overall however 2WD World Champion Broc Champlin, going in the second fastest heat, would get within 8/10ths of Kaerup’s time to secure a P2 for the round.  In terms of how they line-up for the title decider the result means it is Ongaro who starts behind his AE team-mate with Phend and David Ronnefalk, who got a 5th for the final round ahead of Spencer Rivkin, locking in third and fourth on the grid.  Winning 2WD from 2nd on the grid, Champlin faces a tougher task if he is to do the double at the Hills RC Offroad track as he completes the top half the grid in 5th.

Kaerup takes opening 4WD qualifier ahead of Kilic

Team Associated’s Marcus Kaerup has TQ’d the opening round of 4WD qualifying at the IFMAR 1:10 Offroad World Championships, the 2WD Top Qualifier fastest from the Mugen Seiki prototype of a very focused Burak Kilic.  As things hot up both on and off the track in Australia, running in the second fastest heat group it was Kilic who laid down the benchmark for the top seeded heat as they took to the track in the hot midday conditions.  With reigning World Champion Davide Ongaro leading them out, initially it was Xray’s Dakotah Phend who set the pace before Kaerup went to the top with his team-mate Ongaro holding P2.  While Kaerup set the fastest lap while in the process of executing a clean run, we would see mistakes from both Phend and Ongaro.  With a roll over, Phend eventually got P3 2/10ths of a second off Kilic.  Also with a roll over, Ongaro would finish P5 just 0.002 off the Xray of David Ronnefalk.  The round would finish with 3 Xray drivers in the Top 6 however young Polish talent Bartek Zalewski would be DQ’d in post race tech for an unmarked battery promoting Schumacher’s Daniele Kobbevik to 6th.

Deja vu as Kaerup tops 4WD Seeding in Sydney

The opening day of 4WD action has ended at the 1:10 Offroad World Championships and in a somewhat deja vu outcome of what we witness in 2WD in Australia on Monday, it was Team Associated’s Marcus Kaerup who concluded proceedings by topping seeding.  While the Dane ended the day fastest, unlike 2WD he didn’t have it completely to himself in practice.  After the opening two free practice rounds it was the defending World Champion Davide Ongaro who sat at the top of the times before two more rounds promoted Schumacher’s Daniel Kobbevik to pace setter on the reversed Hills RC Off Road track layout.  Seeding would open with Kobbevik carrying his form as he went fastest in CP1 ahead of the Xray of American Brennan Schimmel, the Slovakian manufacturer very much in the hunt after their 2WD woes.  With Kobbevik unable to improve on his best 3-laps in the second seeding round, Kaerup, who was only 6th after the first one, would go a tenth quicker than Kobbevik to goe into qualifying tomorrow as the Top Seed.  With Kobbevik carrying the number no.2 for qualifying, it would be Dakotah Phend who ended up being closest to the Scandinavian duo, the American 3/10ths of a second off the pace.  Also bettering his time in CP2, David Ronnefalk set the fourth fastest time with Schimmel’s CP1 time giving him P5, Xray looking strong with 3 cars in the Top 5.  Failing to make the Top 10 in any of the four free practice rounds, Michal Orlowski ended the day with a run that sees the Schumacher driver complete the Top 6 ahead of Ongaro while his team-mate & newly crowned 2WD World Champion Broc Champlin finds himself in the second fastest heat.  As history shows however this isn’t such a bad thing, the American having also started out in the second fastest qualifying group in 2WD.

Ongaro fastest as 4WD gets underway in Australia

Defending World Champion Davide Ongaro has set the early pace as the 4WD action gets underway at the IFMAR 1:10 Offroad World Championships in Australia.  Having just missed the A-Main cut in 2WD, after two rounds of 4WD free practice it was the Italian who leads the way from 2WD Top Qualifier & Team Associated team-mate Marcus Kaerup.  With the first practice more a sighting run for the drivers on the freshly prepared track, racing now running in the anti-clockwise direction and the jump surfaces reworked for that change, the second round was more indicative of form and it was good to see Xray, after their struggles in 2WD, back in the mix.  Dakotah Phend would post the 3rd fastest time based off 3-consecutive laps with team-mate David Ronnefalk managing 5th fastest.  In between them, Daniel Kobbevik led the Schumacher team as team-mate & newly crowned 2WD World Champion Broc Champlin was brought back down to reality with only the 18th fastest time.  Describing his opening two practice runs as ‘alright’, Champlin said they are ‘still trying to get the car into a better window’.

Team Associated RC10GB Nitro Buggy

On a day that a new 1:10 2WD Buggy World Champion will be crowned in Australia, it seems after all its retro RC10 kit releases Team Associated decided to go a slightly different route with its latest offering of the iconic buggy platform by sticking a nitro engine in it.  The RC10GB is 2WD nitro buggy, combining the RC10GT’s gas-powered durability with the suspension and styling of the RC10 Team Car. Delivering vintage looks, modern performance, and true nitro excitement for collectors, racers, and off-road RC enthusiasts, the RC10GB pays tribute to two of the most iconic vehicles in RC history.  In the release for the new buggy, the American manufacturer states, ‘For the first time ever, Team Associated has officially unveiled a nitro-powered buggy that blends the race-proven performance of the legendary RC10GT Gas Truck with the unmistakable looks and suspension geometry of the classic RC10 Team Car.  This isn’t a reissue or a replica – it’s a brand-new creation that merges decades of innovation into a single, high-performance package.  At its core, the RC10GB is built on the durable and battle-tested foundation of the RC10GT, a gas truck that dominated ROAR Nationals and club tracks throughout the 1990s. Known for its strength, speed, and reliability, the RC10GT serves as the perfect platform for this nitro-burning buggy. From the reinforced chassis to the tough drivetrain and stealth-inspired transmission, the RC10GB is ready to handle the rigors of high-speed off-road racing. What sets the RC10GB apart visually and functionally is its unmistakable buggy form.  Borrowing its suspension layout, shock towers, and overall stance from the RC10 Team Car, it delivers the classic 2WD buggy feel with long-travel shocks and a low-profile design that’s perfect for loose dirt and high-traction surfaces alike.  It’s a seamless blend of form and function, wrapped in a body that nods to Team Associated’s vintage golden era.’

Kaerup locks up early TQ in Australia with 3 from 3

Team Associated’s Marcus Kaerup has locked up an early overall TQ at the IFMAR 1:10 2WD Buggy World Championships in Sydney, the Dane taking a clean sweep of the opening 3 rounds of qualifying to secure his second WC Top Qualifier honours in the space of a month.  Fresh from his 1:8 eBuggy World Championship win in Portugal, once the 17-year-old found his rhythm on the Hills RC Off Road track yesterday he has been pretty much untouchable topping seeding and today carrying that momentum into qualifying.  While Davey Batta signalled he might give his team-mate a run for his money and keep the fight for the TQ going, it wasn’t to be as the American ran out of tyres in Q3.  In the end it was a rejuvenated Spencer Rivkin who would end up Kaerup’s closest challenger, the pair the first to go 12-laps over the 5-minutes however running in the second fastest heat Rivkin, thinking his run was done, stopped on his last lap before realising him mistake but he lost almost 4-seconds – Kaerup beating his time by 3.5-seconds.  The second fastest heat would again see some impressive times with Schumacher pairing Broc Champlin and Daniel Kobbevik again setting the 3rd and 4th fastest time respectively.  Reigning British Champion Tommy Hall enjoyed a strong Q3 breaking into the Top 10 for the first time with a P5 ahead of Batta.

Kaerup takes Q1 ahead of Batta in Australia

Team Associated’s Marcus Kaerup picked up where he left off in Australia yesterday, the Dane taking the opening round of qualifying today at the IFMAR 1:10 2WD Buggy World Championships.  Topping seeding practice yesterday Kaerup would go head to head with his AE team-mate Davey Batta in the first of the 5 rounds of qualifying at the Hills RC Off Road track.  After a less than perfect start, Batta would come back strong over the heat setting the fastest lap to get within 6/10ths of a second of Kaeup as both drivers found themselves in traffic for the final two minutes of the run.  With Orlowski the biggest challenger to Kaerup yesterday, it was to be his team-mate Daniel Kobbevik who lead the Schumacher charge this morning.  Running in the second fastest heat, which he topped ahead of 2-time World Champion Spencer Rivkin, Kobbevik’s time was good enough for third overall ahead of Orlowski and Japan’s Kouki Kato with Davide Ongaro completing the Top 6 ahead of Rivkin.

Team Associated RC10T7 & RC10SC7 Team Kits

Team Associated has released their latest 1:10 Truck and Short Course kits, the RC10T7 & RC10SC7 Team Kits.  Both based on Team Associated’s RC10B7 platform, the Team Kits are the next iteration of the successful truck and short course truck platforms. Design goals were to lower CG, add durability, and incorporate the RC10B7 adjustability and performance. Engineers inside Team Associated’s Area 51 first priority was the design of the new 3-gear laydown transmission to reduce drag and transfer all of the power to the larger tyres.  Both kits shares key components with the RC10B7 and RC10B7D Team Kits, making it easier than ever to run multiple classes at the same time.  The primary suspension update is to lower the CG with shorter 25mm long front and 31mm long rear 13mm big bore shocks.  The new chassis design is a stronger truck version of the RC10B7 buggy design and gets a new truck specific gull wing long arm suspension to improve grip and predictability in all conditions.  On top of that, the kit includes updated zero KPI steering blocks and updated caster blocks, along with the legacy B7 features for tuning the front end feel. The new steel front inner hinge pin brace and updated B7 V2 caster block add to front end durability.  The new RC10T7 offers the same mounting locations along with anti-roll bar hardware as the RC10B7 while pairing nicely with wide mount anti-roll bars that fit the new suspension arms.
