Coelho to defend Snowbirds title from TQ

Bruno Coelho is to defend his Snowbird Nationals Touring Car title as the Top Qualifier. The back to back World Champion put his Xray on pole position with a fastest time in the penultimate round of qualifying but the FTD qualifying format meant he had to wait til the completion of Q4 for the result to be confirmed. Setting the pace in all four qualifiers at the Wyndham Orlando Resort and Conference Centre venue, starting behind the Portuguese star for the 29th running of the iconic Florida race will be Marc Rheinard. Top Qualifier in 1:12, he took his Awesomatix touring car to its best time also in Q3. Coelho’s team-mate Alexander Hagberg completes the Top 3 on the grid for the single A-Main ahead of 2022 Runner-up Sami Isaacs and Canadian Keven Hebert.

Coelho to contest 1:12 World title

In a major boost for the IFMAR 1:12 World Championship, reigning Touring Car World Champion Bruno Coelho has announced his intentions to travel to Florida for the 21st running of the IFMAR’s second longest running World Championships. The factory Xray star unveiled his intentions at the famous Snowbirds National which is taking place this week when he revealed that in addition to racing Touring Car he would be also contest 1:12 at the iconic Florida race. Known for his ultra successful relationship with Francesco Martini of MonacoRC as his mechanic in Touring Car, the Portuguese driver has teamed up with 1:12 expert Paul Ciccarello to guide him through his first foray into the pan car category. Known for his versatility that includes being the reigning 4WD Buggy World Champion, Coelho has had no trouble adapting to 1:12 as he claimed a TQ run in the opening round of qualifying together with a TQ run in Touring Car. In the past 1:12 kicked off the week of onroad electric World Championships action and most of the touring car stars raced for the title but after South Africa in 2018, where Alexander Hagberg was the only touring car front runner to take on the event, which he duly won, it became a standalone event. In 2020, touring car legend Marc Rheinard took the title in England for a second time. With the US, where Marc won his first 1:12 title in 2014 ending Naoto Matsukura’s 6 year reigning of the category, a hot spot for 1:12 and now Coelho committing to the event, the category looks set to garner plenty of additional attention in 2023. Xray enter Coelho for inaugural MIBO International Race

Xray has confirmed that it will be sending Bruno Coelho to the inaugural MIBO International Race in the Czech Republic. The exciting new indoor event on March 3-5th, will feature both onroad and offroad racing action with Coelho set to focus his attentions on the Offroad competition. Kicking off his 2023 season with victory at the annual GP3F in France last weekend, the reigning Touring Car World Champion will use the event to work alongside Xray’s offroad designer Martin Bayer as the duo begin preparations for what is a big year for 1:10 Offroad. In September, the two time 4WD Buggy World Champion will travel to the US to contest the IFMAR 1:10 Offroad World Championship with one of Bayer’s creations. Xray will also be officially represented at the MIBO International in onroad with Martin Hudy, who is responsible for Xray’s onroad car design, contesting the Modified Touring Car class at the inaugural Michal Bok created event.

Crompton joins Xray

Xray has announced that UK driver Paul Crompton is joining the Xray Team to race the both its 1:10 electric and 1:8 nitro offroad platforms. With a 2023 programme that will include the 1:10 Offroad World Championships in Arizona in September, Crompton said, ” I’m really excited to join the Xray factory team, I can’t wait to to start racing with the cars and do everything I can to get the best results possible. I want to say a massive thank you to everyone at XRAY and the Hudy family for giving me this opportunity. Let’s make 2023 an amazing year!”

Xray RX8 Rear anti-roll bars

Following last week’s release of two new front anti-roll bars for the RX8, Xray has now released updated rear anti-roll bars for their 1:8 Onroad chassis. Available in 2.6mm and 3.0mm options, they have a shape to match the updated bearing bushings for extra smooth movement and offer super fine tuning. Mounting the fixed rear anti-roll bar holders without the eccentric bushing makes the down-stops easier to set.

Xray X4F Graphite Upper Decks

Xray has released a new top deck for its X4F 1:10 Electric Touring Car. The split (2 piece) top deck is recommended mainly for asphalt tracks. The top deck features milled holes for special tweak-free top deck screws. The top deck offers more steering response, and more on power steering. The flex characteristic is different than the kit top deck, and the 2 pieces allows for more flex options, which can be adjusted individually between the front and rear. Machined from 2.0mm graphite material, the shape of the top deck has been specifically designed to achieve maximum traction and great steering characteristics at the same time.

Xray RX8 Front anti-roll bars

Xray has released two new Front anti-roll bars for their RX8 1:8 Onroad chassis. Available in 2.3mm and 2.5mm options, they are redesigned to work with the adjustable system which allows more comfortable adjustment of the bar as well as remove excessive play. The wire anti-roll bar is used to increase steering response on small, technical tracks and is mounted to the bulkheads from the outside to allow quick & easy changes and adjustment. The roll bar turns in ball-bearings for maximum precision and freedom of movement. Anti-roll bar height can be quickly & easily adjusted via a screw … quick & easy. The thickness of each anti-roll bar is laser-engraved for easy identification.

Xray X4 Hard Composite Hub

Xray has added a hard composite precision molded hub for their X4 1:10 Electric Touring Car platform. Hard composite is softer than Graphite material and thus generates more mechanical grip on the car and improves side traction. Recommended for low-medium traction asphalt tracks and very-low grip carpet tracks. The hubs allow full adjustability of the axle height to adapt the car to every condition. The aluminium front steering plates and rear ARS plates are easily mounted depending on the hub’s location. The design of the hub is universal with the same part used at all four corners with corresponding extensions.
