EFRA & IFMAR clarify gyro illegality

EFRA & IFMAR clarify gyro illegality

Recent rumours about the use of gyro technology in EFRA sanctioned events made it necessary for Dallas Mathiesen, president of both EFRA and IFMAR, to clarify that the use of driving aids such as gyros, traction control and active suspension devices are strictly forbidden in EFRA and IFMAR sanctioned events. Drivers found using forbidden items will be subject of a severe penalty, such as a long term ban from all EFRA and IFMAR events.

EFRA has not and will not declared Gyro as legal. Neither could it be found anywhere in the IFMAR rules that it is allowed to use a Gyro as a driver aid in a Radio Controlled car.

The statement in full can be found on the EFRA website by clicking here (PDF file).

SARDA ORE national championship Rd2 – Report

The 2nd round of the 2014 South-African ORE national championship was held at the Welkom RC Track. A cold front hit South Africa and the tire warmers got turned up but the great indoor track managed to keep the drivers happy and the programme on schedule. The Touring Modified class once again provided some spectacular high-speed racing. The local hero Antonio Caroli took TQ honours but due to some unlucky incidents in the finals he would only end in 6th place overall. At the end it was Hein Kotze who dominated with faultless driving in all 3 finals. Anderton Smith and Deon Gove managed to grab the final two podium spots.

Jeremy Potter wins E-Buggy at NW Buggy champs

Jeremy Potter wins E-Buggy at NW Buggy champs

This past weekend Tri-Cities RC held the Northwest Buggy Championships in Pasco, Washington. In the 1/8 Electric Buggy class, Tekin team mates Jeremy Potter and Nick Buechler would fight hard in the 3 rounds of qualifying to start 2nd, Potter, and 3rd, Buechler, on the grid for the triple A-Mains. In A1 Potter and Nick would engage in a 3-way battle for the lead, halfway thru the main Potter would pull away from the rest for the A1 win, with Buechler locking down 2nd. In A2, once again Potter and Buechler would jump out front early on where Potter would never look back. Buechler would have a couple rough laps to finish out in 8th. In A3 with Potter on the sidelines already wrapping up the overall, Buechler would jump to the lead by the 2nd corner, but a mechanical issue would end his run where he would have to settle for a 6th overall. Team Associated’s Chris Nealeigh would take the win in A3 and 2nd overall with Brian Munn rounding out the podium in 3rd.
