The third round of the BRCA 1/10th buggy nationals took place at the Eden Park Raceway this past weekend. The weather plays a major role in Europe this Spring and the event’s Friday made no exceptions with plenty of the wet stuff pouring down bringing practice to a halt. Saturday however started bright and it was Schumacher’s Simon Moss who took TQ followed by Neil Cragg (Team Associated/Centro) and Lee Martin (Tamiya/Vega). The finals had the usual madness to offer and it was Lee Martin whose wins in A1 and A3 got him the overall win in the 2WD class followed by Simon Moss and Neil Cragg.

Reno Savoya wins French buggy nats Rd3

Xray’s Reno Savoya took the win at the third round of the French nitro off-road nationals held at the Reding track near Strasbourg. The race again was affected by heavy rain and had to be cancelled after the semi finals. The Aigoin brothers accompanied Reno on the podium with Yannick taking the runner up spot followed by Jerome in third position.

Sven Stoffels wins RC LeMans Series Rd2

The second round of the RC LeMans series took place at the MACH Heemstede track in the Netherlands. Although the weather forecast predicted rain the race was run in dry conditions and after Sunday morning’s qualifying it was  Sven Soffels who took TQ in front of Tobias Weist and Rene Fischer. The first A final saw a clean win by Sven with Frank Büsener and Marcel Ellissen in tow. In the second final Frank looked like the winner until the very last lap when both Rene and Marcel stormed past. Come A final number three Sven was up to his game again, he took off and never looked back taking the win with Rene and Frank in second and third place. These positions also meant the final standings of round number two.

Czech nitro on-road nats Rd1 - Report

The first round of the Czech nitro on-road nationals was hosted by the Brno  Bosonohy club. The weekend also saw the second round of the Nitro Czech Cup which is run as a replacement for the Kyosho World Cup. With some 50 racers in four classes attending everyone was looking for some serious racing action and after overnight rain qualifying started with the NCC Stock class that is run with Sonic Pro Stock engines. Richard Škola took TQ with 29 laps, 1 lap ahead of Alexander Žvak, with Roman Hradecký taking third and Zbyněk Krasl fourth respectively. In the 1/10th class the Jansa brothers once again excelled on their home track with Michal taking TQ followed by Pavel. Michal Abrahamek qualified third with Tomáš Cibulka in tow. Jiří Vyšín took fifth place. The 1/8th class was lead by Michal Abrahamek followed by Martin Zvara junior and Martin Zvara senior. In the Veterans class, run with vintage cars, Zdeněk Svidrnoch tool TQ followed by Dvořák Ondra and Číp Jarda.

Team Wild 13 win 24h race in Luxembourg

Since 1999, ETS, EOS & ENS front man Uwe Rheinard has organized his legendary 24h race for 1:10 electric rc cars. Since the beginning Uwe trusted in the Tamiya-plastic-chassis, starting with FWD Chassis FF01 and up to today with the TT01 chassis. Only for one year the teams had to use a foreign car, but at the end it showed, that Tamiya chassis was the best choice. from the start teams from Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, Austria and Luxembourg traveled to five different tracks in Germany to enjoy that awesome endurance-race. A maximum of 7 drivers in each team is allowed which means that every year from 112 up to 168 drivers travel hundreds of kilometers to be part of the longest night in the RC Car scene.

Rheinard wins 2013 Reedy TC Race of Champions

The 2013 Reedy Touring car Race of Champions took place over the weekend at Norcal Hobbies near San Francisco. A very low entry meant only 14 driver competed in the invitational part this year, however there was a lot of talent in the field including last year’s winner Viktor Wilck, recent ETS Rd4 winner Marc Rheinard as well as Christopher Krapp making his first visit to the USA and Akio Sobue coming from Japan, as well as the main top guns from North America. The invite class is heads up racing over 8 rounds with your 2 worst scores dropped. 3-time World Champion Marc Rheinard was the class of the field, the former Reedy Race winner taking 5 wins to seal the 2013 title, while Tamiya team mates Viktor Wilck and Akio Sobue took 3 wins a piece to take 2nd and 3rd respectively and give Tamiya the complete podium. Christopher Krapp and Paul Lemieux completed the top 5.

Takaaki Shimo wins 1/8th Pre Worlds

The official 1/8th Pre Worlds race took place this weekend at the Keitune Racing Speedway close Tokyo with a number of foreign racers taking part, including current World Champions Robert Pietsch, Meen Vejrak & Jilles Groskamp. Mostly treated as a test session to learn this difficult track and get some valuable setup information ahead of the event which will be held in October, there was also some bragging rights up for grabs. Qualifying would be a Japanese domination with the locals taking 16 of the top 20 spots including the top 5 with Groskamp the fastest of the rest in 6th. Doing well in qualifying would be down to who could make 5 minutes and it was new Mugen signing Takaaki Shimo and his OS engine that took pole position with fellow Mugen/OS driver Shinnosuke Yokoyama in 2nd. Tadahiko Sahashi would take third for Serpent with Picco team mate Keisuke Fukuda 4th with the all new KM car.

Daniel Sieber takes European 1/8th 'B' title

The 1/8th scale EFRA European ‘B’ Championships were held this week at MAV Raceway in Aigen, Austria, the first EFRA Nitro Championship to use single brand hand out tires. With 91 drivers in attendance they had to deal with not only unseasonal single figure temperatures but also on and off rain throughout the event. Qualifying would go the way of Shepherd/Sonic driver Daniel Sieber claiming the only 20 lap run to claim the TQ spot with Maxi Vogl (Shepherd/Sonic) and Rene Püpke (Serpent/Xceed) completing an all German top 3 with Switzerland’s Claudio Pasquin taking 4th. Semi A would see Sieber cruise through to take the pole position for the main while Semi B would see the end of the meeting for Vogl and Pasquin, Nejc Mihelic taking the win. In the final it was to be a close finish with Sieber again being the man to beat, taking the win and European ‘B’ title ahead of Spain’s Nacho Lopez (Serpent/Xceed) in 2nd, 3 seconds behind the winner, with Michael Klausner (Mugen/Novarossi) claiming the final podium spot 3 tenths of a second back for an amazingly close finish.
