Mark Lim double at NOOB Singapore Rd3

Round 3 of the NOOB Singapore Open Buggy Series took place last weekend at the RaceWorks Arena. Racers gathered to do battle with their 2WD and 4WD buggies under the blistering hot sun. In the 4WD class, it was a battle between series leaders Tein, Mark “BC” Lim and Joakim. As the qualifiers concluded, Tein drew first blood by taking the Top Qualifier spot with BC in close second and Joakim third on the grid. The 3 racers hogged all top 3 spots in the first and second leg of the finals with BC taking the win in Leg 1 and Tein in Leg 2, which meant that the final leg would determine the overall result. As the much anticipated Leg 3 kicked off, Tein popped a turnbuckle early on in the first lap effectively ending his race chances, BC capitalized on the opportunity and led the race from start to finish to take Leg 3 and emerge the overall champion with Tein in second position and Joakim finishing strong in third.

Saturday saw the track being flooded for nitro practice as well as the full electric program. On Sunday the weather got better, only cloudy and little bit of sunshine at the end of the day. Qualification saw Martin Bayer take 3 wins out of 4 runs. A muddy track was making cleaning the cars before each run take a lot of time. Xray ace Bayer would win his semi to take the pole position for the main. He would be unchallenged in the main and took the win in front of Lukáš Zeman and Jiří Mára.

Double win for King at JBRL Rd2

Double win for King at JBRL Rd2

Paul King reports from last weekend’s JBRL Nitro round 2 held at Palm Desert RC Raceway. ‘It was a hot hard fought win in the Buggy class, and a little easier cruise in the Truggy class for Cody. These were good wins for Cody as he maintains the points lead in both classes and retains the #1 number plates. Temps exceeding 100f made the effort just a little more difficult unless you pitted in a motor home with AC. Lots of water and wet towels were the order of the day.
