Klausner heads experienced podium at MORAC Graz

Last weekend saw the first club race of MORAC Graz on their new rebuilt track. Open to several classes including 1:5, 1:8 & 1:10 gas onroad, the event attracted drivers from Hungary, Slovenia and Austria. In 1:8 we saw great battle between reigning Slovenian champion Mihelic Nejc and reigning Austrian champion Michael Klausner for the Top Qualifier spot. Klausner was doing much faster lap times, setting a new track record of 16,259 sec compared to the previous time of 16.589 sec by Marco Müller, but didn’t manage to run 5 minutes without a fuel stop, so it was Motonica racer Mihelic Nejc that took the pole position ahead of the Mugen pairing of Michael Selner and Michael Klausner in 2nd and 3rd. At the very last qualifying heat it started to rain, getting very heavy a few minutes later. After a longer break the finals were started in several classes, but not all drivers wanted to run on the wet track, so in 1:8 they got the very experienced podium of 44 year old Michael Selner with the win, ahead of 64 year old Ewald Prochaska in 2nd and 47 year old Wolfgang Luttenberger in 3rd.

Trofeo Picco – Announcement

Picco in Italy were in touch to promote their 11th edition of the Trofeo Picco which will take place on the 2nd to the 3rd of July. The race for 1/8th scale and 1/10th scale 200mm will be held at the super fast Mini Racing Ayrton Senna track in Melzo close to Milan. The event will consist of three 4 minute qualifiers followed by finals and there will be a prize lottery during the event. For more information you can visit the track site here.

Simon Kurzbuch wins Swiss 1/8th opener

The opening round of the Swiss On Road V8 and V10 Nationals took place in Aigle last weekend with 28 drivers in the V10-200mm class, 34 in the Amateur V8 class and 22 in the Expert V8 class competing in the excellent sunny weather. It was the fist time that both classes ran at the same place at the same time, but it was a well organised race and a good job by the team in Aigle during the whole weekend.

Mike Applegate wins Truck at JConcepts Supercup Rd4

The final round of the Jconcepts Supercup Championship Series took place at Bashers RC Raceway, a beautiful indoor RC palace, in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The modified truck class was competitive as ever with TLR Team Driver Mike Applegate getting the TQ. The mod trucks took to the track for the main event with Mike getting the hole shot and leading the first few laps. Applegate made a few mistakes which made for some great racing, but he battled back and took the win, with Dan Borkowicz taking 2nd and Jader Lopez 3rd.

IRCC Nagoya airport race – Announcement

The organisers of the IRCC event that takes place in Japan from the 24th to the 26th of June have been in contact to tell us about the event. The race is unique in that it will be held in Nagoya International airport, in a meeting room near the arrivals section. With the airport having a hotel and restaurants, you wont need to do much traveling and can in fact access the track by foot. Previously a domestic event, this year it will be open to international competitors for almost all electric on road classes in both 1/10th and 1/12th scale. Racers afraid of any fallout from the recent disasters in the country needn’t worry as the event is very far south away from any potential harm. 2011 Short Course Nationals – Announcement

The organisers of the 2011 Short Course Nationals to be held at R/C Madness in Enfield, CT were in touch to promote their event which takes place from the 26th to 28th of August. As the name suggests, the race is only open to short course vehicles and encompasses 8 classes including Slash spec, 2wd stock, 2wd open, 4wd open, SCT big block, mini short course open, SC buggy stock and finally 4wd nitro open. Steven Cuypers wins Rd1 in Western Germany

Steven Cuypers and Uwe Baldes made it a Mugen 1-2 at the first round of the Western German Championship with Serpent racer Alain Levy completing the podium on third. It has been a really great race weekend at Dormagen near Cologne with a total of 39 1/8 scale racers in both classes. Since years the number of entries hasn’t been that high in the 1/8 scale category. The weather was just perfect all over the weekend but lots of farina made it difficult for the drivers especially at the beginning of the practice on Saturday when grip level was poor and cars turned to be covered by yellow farina. But finally grip increased and all racers got lots of practice over the day on the 273 meter long track which is known as “RC Monaco of Germany” because of its concrete walls and guard rails.

Henry & Kvidera take Canadian Indoor Champs

This past weekend was the 5th Annual Canadian Indoor Championships for 1/8th nitro buggies and truggies in Tillsonburg, Ont, Canada. In the pro buggy class it was a TLR sweep of the top three with Dave Henry taking the win with teammates Daniel Yachnin 2nd and Frank Calandra 3rd. In pro truggy TLR would take to top two spots with Jimbo Kvidera taking TQ and the overall win with teammate Daniel Yachnin taking 2nd.
