Robin D'Hondt claims European 1/8th on-road title

The 2016 EFRA 1/8th Nitro On-road European Championship was held in in Eskilstuna, Sweden. The event was highly affected by the unsteady European weather this Summer but the 45 minute main event would be held in good racing conditions. The pole position holder, Shepherd’s Simon Kurzbuch, showed an impressive pace over the week and in the main final he looked to be in control of things with Robin D’Hondt appearing to be the only driver able to keep up with Simon’s speed. But disaster struck for Simon as technical issues put a halt to his title chase, allowing Robin to take over the lead and never looking back. Behind the Belgian driver a 3-car train was in a fight for the runner-up spot, formed by ARC driver Toni Gruber, Daniele Ielasi (WRC) and Simon Kurzbuch. At the end Robin would bring home the win a lap ahead of the battling Toni Gruber and Daniele Ielasi who completed the podium separated by only about two tenth of a second.

Belgian SCT Cup Rd3 – Report

Belgian SCT Cup Rd3 – Report

Round three of the Belgian SCT Cup was held at the Buggy Racing Tournai club and on an unanimously praised new layout. Unfortunately, like last year in May, the weather had different plans for the weekend. Massive rain during the week before the race meant the club members had to work hard in order to prep the track and the surroundings and it was even possible to start the race on Sunday but more heavy rainfall around noon left the organisers with no choice but to cancel the event. Thankfully the qualifiers were done at that point and therefore the qualifying ranking was used to determine the final ranking.

Kobbevik wins 4WD title at Swedish Off-road Champs

Last weekend’s Swedish Electric Off-road Championships saw Yokomo driver Daniel Kobbevik taking control of the proceedings in the 4WD class. Putting some two seconds on the second placed driver in the best three consecutive laps Daniel was also the only one to break into the 23 seconds barrier when it came to the fastest single lap. The track was pretty beaten up from the 2WD portion of the event and it looked like the conditions would be pretty changeable during the day.
