Yokomo 4WD buggy prototype shown at IFMAR Worlds

During this week’s IFMAR 1/10th Off-road World Championships in Trencin, Slovakia Yokomo are campaigning a prototype 4WD buggy. The shaft-driven vehicle is using the 2017 World Championship YZ-4 SF as a base, however it utilises a new motor mount and centre drivetrain layout with the motor sitting behind the servo while the shorty battery is placed on the left front side of the chassis, opposite the steering servo. The speed controller and receiver will find a new home in the rear part of the chassis that features long front and a short rear centre driveshafts. The suspension components are taken over from the previous YZ-4 SF, meaning the prototype features basically a weight bias and possibly chassis flex update. We bring you more details on the car as they become available.

TLR tease new 1/10th 4WD Buggy at IFMAR Worlds

During this week’s IFMAR 1/10th Electric Off-road World Championships, that are being held at the Hudy Racing Arena in Trencin, Slovakia, Team Losi Racing are showing what is expected to be their forthcoming new 1/10th scale 4WD buggy. By the look of things, and especially the front gearboxes and chassis design, the new buggy is shaft-driven, doing away with the belt drivetrain of the ageing 22-4 kit and being up to par with the latest 4WD buggy designs. Detailed specifications are hard to spot in the images, however the kits run at the Worlds and in the hands of Dakotah Phend, Tom Rinderknecht and Reno Savoya look pretty much production ready and more details should surface very soon.

The buggy builds on a newly designed chassis that is 1mm thinner than the previous main plate, however due to its wider design its reduces twitchiness and improves handling and flex characteristics on rough tracks. The buggy also does not sport a traditional radio tray but separate radio and battery boxes as well as independent servo mounts for a more equal left/right chassis flex. Both the battery and receiver box are of the same dimensions, allowing to swap battery and receiver for weight bias changes.
