This month’ VRC Pro Column is all about the difficulties VRC encountered during initial 1/8th nitro buggy testing. After the first tests with the new 1/8 nitro buggies early August of this year, it was obvious that Todd ‘Doc’ Wasson, the VRC Pro physics specialist, had to go back to the research lab. The buggy drove, but nothing close enough to the real car so beta testing was halted for 2 months. In these 2 months a lot has happened. A lot of research was done in understanding the dynamics of the buggy better.

Spec-R DEX410 option parts

Asian option parts specialists Spec-R released preview images of their forthcoming line of optional parts for the Team Durango DEX410 buggy. The portfolio will include several aluminium parts such as hard-coated centre driveshafts, big bore shock caps, 14mm wheel hex adapters, rear hubs as well as shock nuts and spring holders. Also coming are spring steel double joint driveshafts, shock screws and a spring steel slipper nut as well as a brass 33g skid plate weight. All parts are direct replacements for the stock items on the DEX410 buggy.

Italian company WRC now have special sleeves for the dual joint driveshafts of the STX touring car available. Made from a special resin material the sleeves not only prevent the cross pins from accidentally falling out, the captured design also keeps dust and debris away from the delicate parts.

Yeah Racing introduce an optional spring set as well as titanium-coated shock shafts for their Shock-Gear range of dampers. Starting with the spring set, included are five sets of super soft to super hard springs that are ideal not only for Yeah Racing’s dampers but many other 50mm to 55mm shock absorbers. The springs are made from high quality spring steel and come marked for easy identification. Also new are titanium-coated shock shafts for the 55mm variant of the Shock-Gear dampers. The gold colour coating significantly reduce friction to make for a smoother operating damper.

Speedmind LiPo safety bag

New from Speedmind comes this stylish LiPo safety bag for charging and storing LiPo batteries packs. It is made from a special fire-resistant fabric and of a triple layer design for increased safety in the event of a LiPo pack catching fire due to overcharging. Large velcro straps keep the lid and the two inner lashes closed securely. The bag is printed with red and white Speedmind logos and the red lining makes for additional visual impact.

Xtreme Racing RC10 Classic carbon fibre options

Team Associated RC10 Classic owners who which to do away with the kit’s fibre glass shock towers and nylon battery and gear box braces can now upgrade their ride with carbon fibre parts from Xtreme Racing. The front and rear shock tower both base on the original design but sport additional mounting holes for more complex setups. Also new are a “Worlds” front shock tower, a carbon fibre 6-gear transmission brace and a small battery strap for LiPo batteries. All parts are machined from high-quality carbon fibre, reduce weight, add rigidity, look cool and are available now.
