We can exclusively confirm that Top US racing star, and 1:8 scale Worlds finalist, Chris Tosolini has signed to use Matrix tyres at the upcoming 1:10 200mm Nitro World Championships in Portugal. Cristian Boni the owner of Matrix, a young and ambitous Italian brand, gave us the scoop here at the 1:8 Euros in Valencia and told us that the deal will also include Tosolini running their foam range of tyres for the 2009 season in both Gas and Electric racing.
It is understood that rival brand ATS was close to a deal with the 2006 US National Champion for the Worlds but the Kyosho driver is understood to have been influenced by engine sponsor Sirio to run Matrix products thus ending ATS’s plans to recuit the American. The 2008 IFMAR 1:10 200mm World Championships takes place from 11-17 August and Red RC will be present to bring our readers live coverage from the Lisbon event.
Team Losi now offers the first tire glue developed specifically for the latest generation of r/c car tires. Unlike the numerous generic adhesives, Team Losi’s new “Tread Lock” tire glue has been developed to bond the various rubber compounds currently used in R/C car tires. Also, by popular demand, Team Losi has developed a thin formula Tire Glue for use on tires with poor access to the tire bead and where it is necessary to allow the glue to flow into otherwise unreach-able areas.

Starting with this tyre diameter gauge, its a simple no fuss way to measure the diameter of your foam tires with a range from 0-80mm. Also new for easy transport of a full set of 1/8th scale foam tires is this on road tyre holder which can conveniently hold together a pair of rear and a pair of front tires simultaneously.

New from Elements for 2008 is the Elements Trekker Rally Cross tyre, developed by top UK and EU racers with the goal of creating massive forwards traction, awesome side bite and more acceleration. To complete these objectives the tread design has been optimized with the triangular central section being able to cut into the surface for unparalleled forwards traction, while the outer edge of the tyre has also been worked on to give excellent cornering characteristics by stiffening up the side wall under load with the bars. The final stage was to reduce the overall diameter of the tyre to reduce weight and gain more acceleration. The compound was then optimized for all conditions which resulted in the all round S-Medium compound. This tyre proved to work on every surface from astro to clay to grass in every condition possible. Not happy with just an awesome all round tyre the developing racers wanted something a little softer for that little edge when they need it, we found the R-Soft compound! Designed to take the mold release off the tires, as well as grease off the wheels it evaporates quickly meaning you will spend less time doing tire prep. Brian, who discovered this special blend, had the following to say.
U.S. tires are various compounds of rubber and they all have mold release on them which absolutely must be removed. The glue won’t stick properly to either the tire or the wheel if you don’t clean both I’ve tried everything you can imagine to clean tires, from motor spray to 91% alcohol. Until now, nothing really worked. I love this stuff, and you will too!
