Xray have announced that 3x European champion Renaud Savoya has joined their team. Having just confirmed his split with Durango earlier this week, the French driver has already been testing his new ride in an effort to get up to speed with 808. Reno will play an important role at the R&D team to help with the further development of the 808 platform as well help to provide the technical support at the major events. Reno had this to say:
I’m very excited and motivated to join the Xray family! They always show huge motivation and ambition for racing, fuelled up by passion and devotion. As we were having different opinions and objectives with my previous sponsor, we decided to break our partnership in a friendly atmosphere. Three time European Champion Renaud Savoya has confirmed to us his departure from Team Durango in an exclusive interview with Red RC today. The French man joined the team at the end of last year following 3 ultra successful seasons with Mugen. Having announced his move to the US late last year where he was expected to be a strong contender, he struggled to find pace with the car all season and this continued to his domestic series where he could only net himself a handful of podiums. Last month a below par showing at the European Championships in Germany where as reigning 3 time champion he failed to make the final for the first time further highlighted the ‘Shark’s’ struggle to adapt to the car. Talking to Renaud at this race you could tell that he was looking for change and so with today’s confirmation he has left the team he joined just 9 months ago.

Italian company Bittydesign have announced that top Thai drivers Meen Vejrak and Charlee P. have joined their official international Team. The two drivers will run the new cab forward Force body on their Mugen buggies, the same shell used by new European Champion Robert Batlle at last month’s Euros in Germany.

Ultimate Racing and ProCircuit have announced that talented Thai driver Charlee P. has joined their team through a deal with Team RC Pro Thailand, exclusive distributor for UR and PCT. Charlee has had a great season since joining the UR&PCT Team, having a good result at the 2011 FEMCA Championships in Malaysia and winning the 3rd round of the Thai nationals. Charlee has this to say:

Viper R/C Solutions have announced that Billy Fischer will assume team manager responsibilities for Team Viper West Region. The Team Durango factory driver will be working closely with the product development team and drivers of all different levels and with his professionalism and attention to detail will definitely be a tremendous asset to the company.

Acorn Racing have announced the signing of young Singapore talent, Dominic Quek, to its team. 9 year-old Dominic started RC racing at the age of 4½ years and used to racing against much older competitors, Dominic has exhibited his ability to compete despite his young age. He has traveled to take part in several international races, including the Czech round of the Euro Touring Series in 2010, the Reedy International Race of Champions in 2010 and 2011, and the 2009 Tamiya Asia Cup Finals in Bangkok, Thailand. As a relatively young company in the RC world competing against more established RC brands, Acorn Racing identifies with Dominic’s achievements and his “can-do” spirit and look forward to accelerating the next stage of his development with all of Acorn Racing Race Equipment.

Motonica team driver and multiple World and European Championship finalist Robin D’Hondt has joined ABEC35, supported by Team F.V.S.S. in Italy. Robin already used ABEC35 Type-X ball bearings to get into the main final at the 2011 1/8th Euros in Luxembourg and is really happy with the increase in performance from the drivetrain.
