Kevin Brunsden joins Team Xray

Mirage Racing have announced that top UK racer Kevin Brunsden has made the switch over to Team Xray to race the XB8EC and XT8 for the 2008 season. Kevin is a well know National winning touring car driver that recently made the switch over the ultra competitive 1/8th buggy class last season and immediately impressed. Kevin will be using Falcon Engines and GRP tyres at all Nationals this coming season and will certainly be a regular contender at the top of the timesheets.

Lee Martin signs to Sirio engines

Current British 4wd electric buggy Champion and World and European finalist Lee Martin has signed to use Sirio engines. Lee will make his debut with the Sirio 21 CL7B-STI in Florida next month when he will run it in his Associated RC8 1/8th scale buggy. Lee had this to say about the deal:

I loved the Sirio 21 CL7B-STI! It felt instant and smooth! Gave me a greatly increased confidence with engines and can’t wait to use this at the next meeting I attend. I think the EP guys will prefer this pipe S21.200123 (EFRA 2057 high torque with smooth mid range power) on clay or dirt surfaces. I would like thank Sirio & Kyosho UK for their support.

Travis Amezcua joins Avid RC

Travis Amezcua joins Hot Bodies

Avid RC have announced that Travis Amezcua has joined their team, bringing with him great experience having raced in the top level for over a decade. Having just switching over to Hot Bodies, from Team Losi, to help head up their Team Management and R&D,Avid is very excited to have him on board. Travis has always been the racer that never stops searching for the next level in handling or speed, and will make a great addition to Avid Racing Concepts.

Greg Hodapp Joins Team Kyosho

World class driver, Greg Hodapp has joined Team Kyosho for the upcoming race season. This return to racing for Greg will also be the second time that he has been able to work with Gil Losi Jr.

I spoke with a few other interested manufacturers, but when given the opportunity to work closely with Gil Losi Jr once again, the choice was simple. Gil has always been able to bring out the best in me and I’m very excited about the direction this team is taking.

Greg will be driving both of Kyosho’s RB5 and ZX5 for the upcoming season. His Kyosho buggies will be powered by Slingshot Batteries and Novak Brushless systems. Look for Greg to be attending major events throughout the 2008 race season.

Kinwald, LeMieux & Dieter return to Team Trinity

RC Car Action have the scoop that Team Trinity have announced the return of on-road pro Paul LeMieux, horsepower guru Jim Dieter, and the legendary Dirtinator, Brian Kinwald. Brian made his name as one of off-road racing’s all-time greatest drivers while Trinity powered, and his return marks a highly anticipated comeback for the superstar. With multiple national wins, a World Championship title and five consecutive “Readers’ Choice Awards” for favorite driver, Brian is the man to watch in off-road for 2008. Team mate Paul LeMieux, considered by many to be the best on-road racer in the world, brings the heat with a long string of victories that includes the Novak Champs, ROAR Nats, Snowbirds, and the International Indoor Champs. Mark Pavidis moves to Kyosho America

Kyosho America have announced that as of Monday November 19th Mark Pavidis will be joining them as a product designer at their Lake Forest, California facility. Pavidis is a two-time World Champion and the reigning IFMAR World Champion in 1/8 Off-Road, and has 18 years of R&D, product development, and design experience that he brings to Kyosho. During his tenure as a Kyosho Factory driver, Pavidis has already been instrumental in the design and testing of certain Kyosho vehicles. Kyosho America’s Marketing Director Steve Pond says,

Having Mark on staff will give us a distinct advantage because he’s raced at the highest level of competition in the world for decades. Not only will he be able to design new products, his considerable racing skill will allow him to test them to the highest limits. Combined with the considerable talents of Gil Losi, Jr., we’re very excited about the possibilities of future products that will result from our newly-formed team.

Jerome Renaux is Belgian 200mm Champion

Jerome Renaux is the 2007 Belgian 1/10th 200mm Champion after a year long battle with rival Nick Cuypers. The Kyosho racer managed to take 3 race wins as well as 2 podium finishes from 6 races and in qualifying he also showed great pace claiming 4 pole postions throughout the season. With Jerome taking the title, it was Serpent racer Nick Cuypers that was 2nd overall with the 3rd spot going to Jonathan Sanza racing a Xray NT1.

Jilles Groskamp joins SMC

SMC Europe have today announced that top International electric R/C racer Jilles Groskamp from the Netherlands has signed up to use their products. With an impressive list of race results, like 2-times Snowbirds winner, multiple A-finalist at European and World Championships as well as many other wins, Jilles was looking for the best batteries with maximum power and found them at SMC. Jilles leaves behind Trinity with whom he parted company at the end of the summer and had tried Checkpoint for the IIC but now seems to have settled on the SMC brand.
