Robin D’Hondt signs to Merlin Fuel

Merlin Racing fuels in Spain have announced that current Belgian 1/8th scale National Champion Robin D’Hondt has signed to use their products for the 2008 season. After an intensive test on the Roselare circuit, he was happy with the performance of the fuel and has decided to defend his National title using Merlin Fuel products. Despite his age Robin has achieved a lot on the track, winning the 2007 Belgian Championships as well as this years Benelux Cup and in 2006 he was a European Championship finalist in Oslo, Norway.

Hupo Honigl joins Much More

Current European Electric 4wd Buggy Champion Hupo Hönigl has been signed to Korean electronics and tools manufacturer Much More. The Austrian driver, who races for Tamiya in both off road and in Touring car, will now be using Much More products track side and joins many other great drivers signed to the Much More brand such as Andy Moore, Atsushi Hara, Marc Rheinard and Surikarn Chaidejsuriya.

David Crompton rejoins Crono

Our partners Neo Buggy have the news that 8 times British National Champion David Crompton has rejoined Italian buggy maker Radiosistemi to race their new Crono RS7GR. David left the Italian manufacturer at the end of last year to take on the challenge of the new Team Magic M1B, but then moved to Hobao from the middle of the season onwards after the M1B failed to deliver. David had this to say about his new deal –

I would really like to thank HoBao and CML for all their support this year, I’m happy to be back at Radiosistemi, and the RS7GR is the best handling car I have ever driven, everything is improved, quality, performance, speed!

Yannick Aigoin stays with GRP

New Team Losi signing Yannick Aigoin has made the move from former employer RB engines, to use the engines of current tire supplier GRP. According to an interview by Neo Buggy, the former European Champion and Xray driver, had this to say “I have worked with GRP so many years on their tires. I am really glad to be back working again with them, this time not only on tires but also on their engines. I’ll be promoting and developing their products in Europe and also in the US…”

Jason Ashton joins Associated

 Jason Ashton joins Associated

We are a little late with this news, as we were busy in Argentina, but Associated was in contact to let us know that Jason Ashton has joined their team. The 2004 ROAR 1/8th National Champion and IFMAR World Championship A-main finalist will campaign the Factory Team RC8 on the U.S. National and International racing circuit. Ashton brings a balance of experience and desire to the already lethal force that is the Associated 1/8th Racing Team. When asked why Ashton found racing for Team Associated so appealing he had this to say

When I analyzed all the teams, vehicles and companies, Team Associated continued to rise to the top.  I’m racing for what I feel is the complete package.  I am excited to have their support and to be a part of their Team.

Look for Ashton to debut his RC8 at the upcoming IFMAR World Championships Warm-Up at The Farm2 in late October and then on to the Nitro Pit for the Nitrocross Invitational.

Elliot Boots joins Team Associated

Team Associated and CML Distribution have announced that European Junior Champion, and winner of this years Kyosho Masters, Elliott Boots has signed to race the RC8 in 2008. Elliott has a long standing association with CML and this is an extension of that relationship. When Elliott arrived at CML today to sign his contract he had this to say.

I cant wait to get racing the RC8, I have seen Neil Cragg take the title this year and new I had to get my hands on one!

N’Diaye is 2007 French National Champion

The last round of the French 1/10th EP Touring car National Championship was recently held at Manspach, in the East of France. Qualifying in the Open A class saw Cyril N’Diaye, racing the new Xray T2’008, dominate the qualification sessions, putting himself into pole position ahead of Tamiya racer Loic Jasmin in 2nd and Lucas Urbain in 3rd. In the Open A final, N’Diaye benefitted from his pole position and was able win the first two finals, taking the overall win with Jasmin just behind in 2nd, with another Xray racer Aurélien Threhout in 3rd place. With this result Cyril N’Diaye was able to clinch the 2007 French National Championships.

Massimo Esposito joins GO Technology

Massimo Esposito, or Espomax to his friends, a well experienced Italian driver has agreed to join GO Technology and use their engines for the rest of the 2007 season and the whole of the 2008 season. After some extensive tests, he found that GO Tech engines were capable of giving him all the power he needs combined with reliabilty, all from an inexpensive engine.
