Mats Angseryd wins VBC Cup

The Xray XB4 made its first appearance in the VBC cup through Mats Angseryd and Lukas Jerresand. The race was held in Eskilstuna Sweden on a tight medium grip carpet track. The day started out in the best possible way with Team Xray Sweden Mats Angseryd leading the field after the first qualifier ahead of Schumacher driver Christer Carlsson and Daniel Björkquist, and on fourth place was XB4 local driver Lukas Jerresand. Normal quick driver Niclas Månsson for Team Associated was looking as quick as ever but had some trouble and had to sit Q1 out after 9 laps due to breaking a front suspension arm. Qualifying would eventually end up with Mats Angseryd as the TQ after winning 3 of the 4 qualifiers, and Angseryd also was the only one in the field reaching 24 laps, and Lukas Jerresand on 5th putting two XB4 in the A-main.

Hart & Clinch win Essex Winter Series Rd 4

Hart & Clinch win Essex Winter Series Rd 4

The fourth round of the Essex Winter Series took place this weekend, and with snow forecast all week, some wondered if the meeting would even take place.  However, with Saturday proving nicer than forecast, the EWS team built the track and spent time making sure the venue access road was gritted, ready for the meeting as usual. With no overnight snow, the meeting went ahead as normal, however with snow forecast later in the day, the organisers decided to only run four rounds of qualifying rather than the usual five, to allow people a slightly earlier finish. Despite a few drivers not wishing to travel in the uncertain conditions, an impressive 86 drivers still turned up to race, including Keith Dempsey and Ryan Campbell making the trip over from Ireland. In the Stock 21.5 class, the battle for pole was between series newcomer Gavin Clinch and last year’s runner-up Mark Trinder. Mark topped the first round with his Xray, three tenths of a second ahead of Gavin, with series returnee Matthew Rowe taking third in the round and Trevor Bailey an excellent fourth. Mark also took round two, before Gavin fought back and took his Serpent to the top of the time sheets in round 3, with the fastest time so far.

Yokomo’s Ronald Volker held off an intense challenge from Serpent’s Marc Fischer in the 3rd & deciding A-Main at the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in the Czech Republic this afternoon to claim his ninth ETS win, one which the defending Champion afterwards described as being ‘very special’.  Having made mistakes in the opening 2 legs of the A-main which allowed Awesomatix’ Freddy Sudhoff to win the first and Fischer the second, all the pressure was on the German ace in the third leg as not only did he have to win but he also had to make sure did so at a fast enough pace.  In the end he did just that bettering Fischer’s Leg 2 winning time by 3 seconds to take the win on tie break with his fellow German. Struggling with his set-up in the final race of the day finishing fourth Sudhoff completed the podium at Hrotovice.

Sudhoff wins first A-Main

Team Awesomatix’s Freddy Sudhoff took advantage of a rare mistake by Team Yokomo’s Ronald Volker in the opening leg of the A-Main of the second round of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in the Czech Republic to take a popular win ahead of his fellow German with Team Serpent’s Marc Fischer completing the Top 3.  Top Qualifier Volker caught a dot on the second lap of the race unsettling his BD7 and allowing Sudhoff to pass but ‘Fast Freddy’ was to earn the win on merit as he pulled clean of the pack setting the fastest lap of the 5-minute race in the process.  While Volker made a late challenge over the final four laps of the race reducing the gap to half a second by the finish he was never a serious treat.
