To all those drivers interested in getting some track time at this year’s Touring car World Championship track in Burgdorf, Germany, the track are hosting a Pre Worlds from the 28th to the 30th of May. Having already attracted entries from the top European drivers, there will also be 3 World Champions from Japan present, including Atsushi Hara, Naoto Matsukura and Hayato Matsuaki. We received a report that Team Alternativ/PRT/Sweep finished first of the 1/8th brushless cars at the recent 8 hour endurance race organised by RC94 in Sucy-en-Brie, France. Finishing 5th overall, the car used was a Losi Eight E with Team Tekin RX8 speedo, PRT motor, SMC batteries and Sweep Exagon tires. After fixing radio problems that cost them 65 laps during the first hour of racing, Team Alternative came back from 16th, and last position, to finish 5th, 68 laps down on the winning nitro car and managed to put in some of the fastest laps of the race. They only used two sets of Sweep Exagon tires throughout the entire race and the only mechanical problem was a rear bearing failure in the last hour.

Having covered the super stock class at the third round of the Belgian Nationals in Zwevegem, we now have the modified class report. In the EFRA class it was Olivier Bultynck who took the pole in front of Thomas Stockman and Manuel Henriet. In the first final, Olivier took a clean start and the lead with Stockman and Henriet following. Olivier was very fast and Thomas tried to follow but made a mistake that allowed Manuel to take over he chase but Olivier was gone. The battle for second place was hard and fair and saw Manuel also make a mistake. It was Rico Claeys who drove as second for a little while but Nick Joosens came back and took second place away from Rico. But Thomas was fighting back and overtook Nick. Olivier was far in front and took the win in front of Thomas and Nick.
Round 3 of the Belgian nationals took place at the MRCZ track in Zwevegem. In the Super stock class, run with 10.5T Speedpassion motors, it was last years champion Geoffrey Vekemans who was fastest in qualifying with his Schumacher, ahead of Werner Broekx and Stephane Roufosse. In the first final the win went to Werner, with Geoffrey in 2nd and Roufosse in 3rd. Leg 2 saw Werner try to follow Vekemans but it was almost impossible as he made no mistakes on his way to the leg win. In the 3rd and deciding leg it was again Geoffrey Vekemans who was un beatable and he won the leg from Stephane Roufosse to take the overall win ahead of Werner Broekx in 2nd and Stephane Roufosse taking 3rd.
Round 2 of the Portuguese EP TCC 2010 was run last week at the huge track of Maia, near Oporto. Qualification got underway with the track a little damp, but as the morning ended the track was dry and the finals were all in almost perfect conditions. Because of the weather some of the drivers chose not to take the trip to Maia, so only 22 drivers showed up. In the Stock class, it was Jorge Simões that took the TQ spot, followed by Bruno Castela and Bernardo Cosme. In the finals, Jorge converted his TQ into overall victory followed by Bruno Castela in 2nd and Bernardo Cosme in 3rd. In the Modified class, Helder Silva at his home track didn’t give a chance to anyone and got TQ and the overall win. Rúben Francisco got 2nd and Hugo Miguel was 3rd.
The success of the JConcepts Clash and other events, have paved the way for the JConcepts Wave in Southern California. Open to a large number of electric off road classes, the Wave race takes place this weekend in the heart of the R/C corridor, SoCal. One of the world’s premier indoor off-road facilities has been chosen for 2 years in a row to host the event, OCRC Raceway in Huntington Beach. OCRC is equipped with more than 100 indoor pit spots, as well as a fully stocked hobby shop and sizable indoor clay off-road track. The Wave’s venue and location are sure to make for great times on and off the track.

oOple are reporting that Lee Martin took his second 4WD national win of the 2010 season at the second round of the series held at the Robinhood Raceway. Lee won the opening round of qualifying but it was Paul Bradby that dominated the rest of the days qualifying by taking the next three rounds with his Associated car to take the TQ spot in front of Lee Martin and James Heliwell. Lee took the opening leg of the A final after Paul Bradby had a car problem while in the lead and had to retire on lap 6. Paul fought back to win leg two so things went to the final leg. Lee and Paul fought hard for the full 5 minutes, swapping the lead several times before Lee managed to take the leg and with it the win. Bradby finished second overall and Tom Cockerill, winner of the 2wd round, third. Expect a full report on oOple soon.

Team Durango are reporting that their very own Gerd Strenge, chief designer of the DEX410, took the win at the National qualifier at the weekend. After qualifying 2nd, Gerd dominated the final taking the win in the hotly contested NE regional race. Stock specialist and Multiple German champion Ebi Beck TQ’d and also won the stock class in style with his DEX410.
