Adam Johnson wins at Tennessee State Champs

ROCCK Racing in Knoxville, Tennessee held the 2020 Tennessee State Championship last weekend with nearly 180 entries for the 1/8th and 1/10th scale off-road classes. While Paul Ciccarello took the win in the Pro Nitro Buggy class it was top qualifier, Adam Johnson (Xray) with the overall TQ in 1/8th E-Buggy. In the main final Adam got out to an early lead, was uncontested for the win and earned his first Tennessee State Championship. Despite a few bobbles Xray’s Paul Ciccarello was able to grab the runner-up spot while Team Associated driver, Jonah Wilson finished in 3rd overall.

Kevin Nielsen crowned Danish Modified Touring champ

The Danish Electric On-road Nationals came to an abrupt end this season as due to the world-wide Corona pandemic the final round had to be cancelled. This allowed Kevin Nielsen to take the overall title in his maiden Modified Touring Car season thanks to taking three wins out of the three rounds that count towards the overall championship.

Matthew Gonzales wins at Supercross Series Rd4

Round 4 of the Supercross Series was held at SDRC Raceway in San Diego, California last weekend, drawing nearly 90 entries. The 2WD Mod Buggy class saw Yokomo driver, Matthew Gonzales taking the overall TQ and also the single 5-minute A-main was pretty much smooth sailing for him as he brought home the win with a lap margin on 4th place qualifier, Kevin King (Team Associated) as Eli Westrup (TLR) came in 3rd another lap down.

2020 Texas Electric On Road Series – Report

Round 1 of the 2020 Texas Electric On Road Series was held at Mike’s Gulf Coast RC Raceway in Porter, Texas last weekend. Eventual winner, Chris Adam pulled away early from the pack in the Modified Touring class to cruise for the win as Andrew Doherty defended for his very life for the entire race from Michael Toth, who perhaps was slightly faster, but simply could not find a way around Andrew.

Kohta Akimoto joins Hobbywing & Sunpadow

Japanese electric off-road frontrunner, Kohta Akimoto has announced his new partnership with Hobbywing and Sunpadow. The former long-time Team Orion factory racer will be using Hobbywing’s XeRun XR10 speed controllers along with the XeRun V10 brushless motors and Sunpadow competition LiPo batteries at all major events across Japan, starting immediately. Kohta has the following to say about the deal:

Bornhorst sweeps Holiday Hangover RC Arenacross 2020

The Holiday Hangover RC Arenacross 2020 was held in Moses Lake, Washington over the weekend, attracting over 270 entries including some of the country’s fastest off-road racers. In the premier class of 1/8th Nitro Buggy it was Tekno RC’s Joe Bornhorst with the overall TQ and also came out on top after the 30-minute A-main event, however he was hotly contested by Mugen’s Adam Drake with whom he swapped the lead several times. In the end Adam had to settle for 2nd overall, some 2.5 seconds behind Joe. Four laps down it was Marcus Anzivino (Kyosho) who would round out the top 3.

Jörn Neumann signs with Gens Ace

Gens Ace have announced the addition of IFMAR World and 8-times EFRA European Champion, Jörn Neumann to their factory team. The SWorkz and Schumacher factory pilot will be using Gens Ace Redline batteries during his campaign that will see attendances at all major national and international race events.

Lefebvre doubles at Thornhill Championship Series Rd3

Round 3 of the 2020 Thornhill Championship Series was held at Thornhill Racing Circuit in Hutto, Texas last weekend, attracting over 100 entries. In Expert Nitro Buggy it was Xray’s Ethan Lefebvre with the overall TQ and he would also come out on top after the 25-minute A-main event, leaving behind Spencer Harrison (Xray) in 2nd, some 18 seconds behind. Dillon Caldwell (HB Racing) would end the race in 3rd, some two seconds behind Spencer as Chris Marrant (HB Racing) and Chris Allison (Tekno RC) completed the top 5 result.
