Leino fastest for Xray at DHI Cup

Leino fastest for Xray at DHI Cup

After three rounds of free practice for the 2010 DHI Cup it is Team Xray’s Teemu Leino who is at the top of the time sheets here in Odense with his Orion powered T3 recording a best lap time of 16.559.  The former European Champion says he has done little with the set-up on his car and is just waiting for the traction levels to come up on the brand new carpet.  Asked about the track design for the 10th Anniversary of the famous Danish race, the Finn said that it was very tight compared with last year but it was the same for everyone.

Speed Passion confirm Elliot Harper

Speed Passion confirm Elliot Harper

Speed Passion have announced the signing of top young UK driver Elliott Harper to compliment their growing team for the 2010 season. The 16 year old is already an established racer and has some great racing results already, being a Worlds and European A finalist in 2008. Elliott will use the Speed Passion Competition 3.0 motors along with their GT2.0 Pro Speedo in his cars to give him the best power possible. He will be putting the package together for the next ETS at Hrotovice, Czech Republic at the end of January 2010 for his first major race meeting. Elliott said:

Firstly, I would like to thank Nosram, and in particular Reto, very much for the support they have provided over the last 2 season and I really enjoyed being associated with them. The Speed Passion equipment is easy to use and set up and there have been lots of very positive comments from users. The plug and play arrangement for the motor makes any changes much easier and faster so there is no need for a soldering iron. Speed Passion is keen to strengthen their position and are attracting top drivers in a number of areas and continue to develop their product range making them a very strong force for 2010. I am very much looking forward to the coming seasons with Speed Passion as I have run the package a few times now and it is really, really good.

Kevin Lee joins X-Factory team

Kevin Lee joins X-Factory team

Have recently completed a move to Vampire Racing, UK off-roader Kevin Lee has joined X-Factory in 2WD for the 2010 season. Driving a privately entered X-6 Squared in ’09, he won the National race at Eden Park and put his car in the A-final four times during the season.

2009 was my best year ever in buggy, and the X-6 Squared was almost magic all year, including the A final at Bilbao. When the chance arrived to drive alongside Ellis Stafford and the rest of the X-Team, I didn’t think twice. They were all so helpful last year, I can’t wait to be in the middle of things now. I may even have a go with an X-60.

Lee will continue to drive the Predator for Team Extreme in 4WD, and brings all his other sponsors to the buggy drive, including Tekin, Vampire Racing, The Race Place, Panic Racing, Custom Blitz, and Trishbits.

Czech Xmas Endurance 2009

Czech Xmas Endurance 2009

As a relaxing way to work off the Christmas excesses, a fun three hour endurance race took place in Trutnov in the Czech Republic on the 26th of December. Teams consisted of two drivers using limited 17,5T brushless motors in their cars. A huge carpet track was built on a 20×30 meter area making a lap of 130 meters and so with the winning team achieving 672 laps, it meant a race distance of 87 kilometers. Eight teams took their place on the starting grid and by the end all but one team would finish. Batteries were changed approximately after 20 minutes and due to slower motors there were really small gaps between teams. In the end the team of Tom Knopp & Petr Grof, driving the Xray T3 emerged winners, 10 laps ahead of Zdenda Beneš & Michal Blahovský and Jiří Vyšín & Dan Nečesaný, the second and the third position teams only separated by 10 seconds after 3 hours.
