Lee & Stafford win Eden Park BRCA National

oOple are reporting on the third round of the 2009 BRCA 1/10th off road national series held last weekend at Eden Park Raceway. Ellis Stafford dominated 2WD qualifying with the X-Factory X-6 but couldn’t hold it together for the finals, instead it was the Tekin powered X-6 of Kevin Lee that took the win with two leg wins and a second. In 4WD Grant Williams kicked thing off with the win in round one of qualifying but it was Neil Cragg that took the overall TQ, winning rounds 2 & 3 before reigning 4WD champion Lee Martin took the final round. A hard fought A final saw three different winners in the three legs, Ellis Stafford and Neil Cragg with one win and a second each were tied on points but by virtue of his faster winning time it was Ellis Stafford that took the win.

Euro Touring Series - Round 5

The 2008/2009 Much More backed ETS season finale (round 5) will once again take place at the awesome Andernach track, close to Koblenz in the West of Germany from the 17th to the 19th of July. A great event to cap off this years series, the organizers are once again planning a highly competitive race for both the Modified and Pro stock racers, as well as a fun relaxed atmosphere with plenty of other activities to keep drivers occupied between heats. Once again attracting the cream of European racers, like local World Champion Marc Rheinard, Jilles Groskamp, Ronald Volker, Viktor Wilck and many more, the ETS also expect more surprise international entrants in the build up to the race. In addition to the regular classes their will also be a hobby class run for Tamiya TT01 chassis’ split over a number of classes. The second round of the BRCA National Championship saw the series head to the beautiful Halifax facility in the north of England. Chris Grainger dominated early qualifying with his GM powered Schumacher Mi4 choosing his new tires at the correct moments to get a perfect 3 TQ’s from the 5 qualifying rounds over the weekend with Rd1 winner Andy Moore with his Hot Bodies Cyclone 2nd and Xray driver Elliot Harper in 3rd. Pro Stock qualifying went the way on Jon Bowden in front of Lee Price and Byron Humphries. The first mod leg saw a flag to flag victory for Grainger but the second didn’t quite go to plan. Chris got dirt on his tyres before the delayed start, allowing Andy Moore to pip him on the first lap and take the victory on his fresh tyres compared to Chris’s used ones. With the tyres now all being equal going in the last leg Chris dominated the run taking a comfortable victory to secure the overall win in front of Moore, with Harper taking 3rd. The Pro stock was dominated by Bowden, winning all 3 rounds, with Lee Price a consistent 2nd, while Luke Thompson claimed 3rd spot.

Puleo & Nerone win Endas Italian Championship

The annual Endas Italian Championship took place last weekend at Segrates circuit near Milan. Under the supervision of Mr. Spatuzzi, Mr. Magni, Mr. Taccani and Mr. Colombo it was one of the best organised and presented Endas race in recent years. Qualifying for the modified class went the way of Andrea Simari, with Andrea Nerone in 2nd and Luca Radaelli in 3rd, while in the 10.5T stock class, after a hard fight Giorgio Montagna took the TQ spot followed by Marco Puleo in 2nd position and Luigi Viola in 3rd. Weather conditions were very hot due to a strong sun during the day and the asphalt temperature reached 56°C with an air temperature close to 35 degrees making it very critical for some ESC and motors. After some strong performances in the main finals, first place in the modified class went to Andrea Nerone with Luca Radaelli in 2nd and Max Micheli in 3rd. In the stock class (above) the win was taken by GP Batteries and Matrix driver Marco Puleo, with Tony Simari in 2nd place and Ruggero Zanusso in 3rd spot. GP Batteries and Matrix tyres supported the event with GP Batteries offering anyone the opportunity to try the company’s new GP4300 and GP5300 LiPo.

Grainger & Jefferies win 2009 MMUKGP

This years running of the annual Much More UK GP took place last weekend at the Stonehaven circuit in Scotland. Qualifying for the modified class went the way of current British National Champion Chris Grainger, just in front of Olly Jefferies in 2nd and Dutch driver Niels Koenekoop in 3rd, while in the Pro Stock class, it was Graham Kenny up front followed by Tom Jefferies and Scott Kenny. Conditions remained dry for most of the day, however a rain shower after the first leg of mains mixed things up a bit but dried quickly. Schumacher racer Chris Grainger carried through his pace from qualifying to take the overall title with 2 leg wins, with Niels Koenekoop driving the TOP Photon won leg 3 and took 2nd overall. Team Associated driver Alan Bickerstaff completed the podium in 3rd. In the Pro Stock class, Graham Kenny won the first leg but struggled in the next two, while Tom Jefferies won the final 2 legs to take the overall class title from Scott Kenny in 2nd and Mark Musgrove in 3rd.

Groskamp wins Luxembourg International TC race

Jilles Groskamp has made his intentions clear for this summer’s European Championships by winning last weekend’s International Touring Car race held on the Mini Circuit de la Ville, the same track as the main event in August. The race which attracted top drivers from around Europe looking to get extra track time ahead of the official warm-up, saw Groskamp take a clear pole position, winning all 5 rounds to line up ahead of team mates Yannic Pruemper, Marc Rheinard and Viktor Wilck. In the finals Jilles could take the win in the first leg, with World Champion Rheinard taking the 2nd leg to keep the race alive going into the final leg. Jilles could again take the win in the 3rd and final leg to take the overall win from Rheinard in 2nd, with Wilck moving up 3rd overall after a bad first leg.

Südhoff wins German Summer Champs

Last weekend saw the German Summer Champs take place outdoor in Hann, Münden. More than 100 drivers met in various categories and is aiming to become one of the biggest annual events in Germany. Qualification saw Freddy Südhoff take the pole position in Modified, while in the Stock category it was Stefan Paßlack on top and in Sports it was Näther Oliver taking the top spot. The races saw little change to the starting order with Südhoff winning Mod from Sebastian Lein in 2nd and Dennis Fadtke 3rd, with the last leg being run in the damp conditions as the rain began to fall. The Stock class was won by Stefan Paßlack from Christian Wehrmann and Thorsten Schmidt, while in the Sports class it was Näther Oliver taking the victory ahead of Thomas Mirke and Thomas Musial.

We received a brief report from last weekend’s 3rd round of the Polish Tamiya Championship for off road that took place in Warsaw. After a night of rain on Saturday, Sunday’s first run was still a bit wet but with the sun beginning to shine, it soon dried up and the from the 2nd round of qualifying the track was dry. Qualifying for the 2wd class was headed up by 8 year old Michal Orlowski, with Bartosz Maciejewski in 2nd and Patryk Rybarczyk in 3rd, while in 4wd it was Artur Kramza that TQ’d from Morris Indovino. After the 3 leg 2wd finals it was Rybarczyk that ended up taking the win following 2 leg victories, with pole man Orlowski in 2nd and Maciejewski taking 3rd. In the 4wd finals, touring car regular Morris Indovino took the overall win from Artur Kramza in 2nd and Lukasz Kowalczyk taking the last podium step in 3rd.
