Team Xray Australia have announced that young Australian racer Ryan Maker has signed to race the Xray range of touring cars for 2008. Commenting on his deal to race the T2’008 & NT1, Ryan had the following to say:

Last weekend saw the first round of the Spanish Electric Buggy Nationals held at Sevilla in 25º degree heat. The racers were greeted with a bumpy and dusty track with two double jumps that were causing the most difficulty for those present. Qualifying saw current Spanish National Champion Alberto Garcia take TQ in both the 4wd and 2wd classes, with the LRP team driver managing to also take the win in both classes. In the 4wd class, he placed ahead of Agusti Salto Font in 2nd place and Zacarias Villalba Nilsson in 3rd, while in the 2wd class it saw the runner up spot go to Alberto Cano Borregon with Jose Miguel Cantos Davia taking the final step on the podium.

2007 IIC and 2008 DHI Cup winner Jimmy Maddison from the UK has been in contact to tell us that he has signed a deal to run SMC cells for the rest of this year. The Schumacher team driver said he was very excited about the change and is looking forward to working with Danny from SMC to help develop the new Ener-G 4600 cells.
With the 2nd round of the Much More sponsored European Touring Series in just over 2 weeks (14th – 16th of March) in Vejle Denmark, the organizers have announced that due to the great durability of the Much More Sweep control tire, the Modified class racers will now only be supplied with 2 sets, not 3 as previously stated. This will of course be reflected in the entry cost, which has been reduced from EUR100 to EUR80, and will also include a great t-shirt, the design of which we will show you soon. Pro Stock class entry will stay at EUR 100 but includes 2 sets of Sweep tires, the t-shirt and the fantastic Team Checkpoint Money 19T Spec motor. Finally, to encourage new racers, Scotty Ernst has revealed that they will run a Stock class, with racers able to use their own Stock 27 Turn Motor, a great way of letting newcomers experience a world class event. Entry fee will be EUR 30 and will include 1 set of Much More hand out tires and the event T shirt.

Serpent are reporting on last weekends Corally Thunderdays that took place at Geilenkirchen in Germany where it was brothers Yannic and Bjorn Prumper driving Serpent S400s that took a 1-2 in the Modified class. On Saturday Björn set the fastest time of the weekend and also set a new track-record, however Yannic could not at first match his brother’s times but the reason for this was later discovered, a broken front end of his chassis plate. After replacing the damaged chassis Yannic’s lap times improved dramatically and this allowed him to join his brother in the final. Overtaking Corally driver Lars Treder for 2nd position early in the final, Yannic followed his brother for the rest of the race, which saw Bjorn take the win from Yannic in 2nd and Treder in 3rd.

The first round of the Ukrainian Championships took place recently at an indoor track in Nikopol. The race was open to both touring car and buggies and in both it was LRP team driver Dmitriy Chub that took the win. Racing a Tamiya chassis in each class, he TQ’d the touring class and won ahead of team mate Nikita Dimbitskiy, with Xray driver Anton Buga in 3rd. In the buggy class, it was Evgen Brajko that was quickest in the qualifying session, but he dropped to 3rd by the end of the final behind 2nd placed Andriy Boyko, while Chub managed to work his way to the front and take the win.

oOple have a report from last weekends sixth round of the Schumacher Indoor Off Road Masters, held at the indoor track in Worksop. With the ‘National Indoor Finals’ held at the save venue in a months time – it was a chance for drivers to get some practice in before that event, so there were 12 heats in total. The 4wd class saw the win go to the Richard Lowe driving the JConcepts BJ4 WE, who had qualified 2nd behind X-Factory racer Ellis Stafford, while in 2wd the victory went to pole man Mark Stanley racing a Losi. Last weekend saw the running of the Carpet Wars World Cup, a 2 day event that saw International interest with Marc Fisher making the trip from Germany for the race. After Saturdays qualifying it was Kevin Brunsden on pole but a quick run in the final qualifying heat on Sunday saw Olly Jefferies take the top spot by 0.6 of a second. Leg 1 of the finals saw some problems for the front runners and this allowed Glen Doman through for the win ahead of Elliot Harper, with Olly recovering to 3rd. The 2nd leg was better for Olly, taking the lead from the start and converting it into the win in front of Harper and Doman, while the final leg was again won by Olly, who took the overall win, in front of Elliot in 2nd who claimed the overall runner up spot and Glen coming home in 3rd overall.
