Champlin & Rivkin win at JConcepts Summer INS Dirt

JConcepts’ popular Indoor National Series made its fourth stop of the season over the weekend with the hosting of the Summer Dirt event at Hobbytown Hobbyplex in Omaha where Broc Champlin and Spencer Rivkin took the main spoils.  In 2WD Buggy it was the Schumacher of Champlin that took overall TQ ahead of former World Champion Rivkin.  With three qualifiers Champlin topped two while Rivkin’s Team Associated went fastest in Q3 to line up P2 ahead of the similar buggy of Aydin Horne.  In 4WD Buggy it was the Xray of Chase Lemieux that claimed the top spot for the finals with a dominant 3 from 3 in qualifying.  Behind the JConcepts Spring INS 2WD Buggy winner, Rivkin again lined up P2 with Summer INS Carpet double winner Tom Rinderknecht third.  In the triple finals, Lemieux would have a bad A1 finishing P5 with Rivkin getting the win.  The season opening Winter Indoor Nationals double winner would repeat again in A2 to take the overall win for 4WD.  Lemieux would win A3 to secure second overall with Xray team Rinderknecht completing the podium.  In 2WD,  while Rivkin got the win in A1, Champlin got the job done in A2 & 3 to secure the win with Horne second overall ahead of Rivkin.  With drivers’ best three from 5 races counting, the 2024 JConcepts Indoor National Series concludes with the Fall Indoor Nationals on September 27-29 at Hoosier RC Hobbyplex in New Albany.

Rossetti wins Italian TC National Trophy – Report

The 2nd edition of the Touring National Trophy of the Italian Motorsport and RC Car Racing Federation ACI Sport concluded at the renowned “ASD Minicar Lucca” track near the picturesque Tuscan city.  The high-speed course with technical sectors recently received a complete asphalt refresh, offering excellent grip for the competing cars.  While changing weather conditions challenged the organisers, forcing adjustments to the qualifying and final heat schedules, the competition successfully completed all its stages, crowning deserving champions in the prestigious federal title race.  The Touring Modified class witnessed a major upset, with a young talent stealing the show.  At just 11 years old, Alberto Rossetti from Team Xray – B Racing delivered an impressive performance, securing both the morning’s Pole Position and the overall victory in the 2024 National Trophy finals.  Rossetti’s achievement comes as no surprise to those who have followed his growth, ably supported by his father Michele, who mentors and maintains his car.  Rossetti’s potential was evident in earlier events, including his win at the second round of the Coppa Italia di Zona Centro in May.  Earning the runner-up spot was Emiliano Dagliana, who displayed remarkable skill in the third final, navigating the rain-slickened track with exceptional dexterity.  The ever-consistent Daniele Pacini of the Team Awesomatix – Marka secured third place.

Xpress team confirmed for eSIC

Having announced last month that inaugural Electric Singapore International Challenge Champion Ronald Volker is to return to the RCMC race track to defend the title, the organisers have now confirmed Xpress is to send its factory team to this year’s event.  Taking place on 14-15th September, one week before the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, 1:12 World Championship podium finisher Yanagisawa Yoshiyasu and former Snowbirds Champion Yugo Nagashima will attend the event for the first time.  Reacting to the teams confirmed entry, co-organiser of the event and Singapore’s top international driver Nicolas Lee said, “We would like to warmly welcome top Japanese drivers, Yugo and Yoshi, to attend this year’s edition of eSIC race later in September.  The Japanese duo represent Xpress team and will be aiming to mount a strong challenge for the win with their latest touring car.”  The aim of eSIC to bring back racing in style in Singapore with the creation of one big exciting weekend for the onroad racer with the first edition last September successful setting the stage for the annual event to grow.

2024 FIRC – 2nd Edition Announcement

After a hugely successful inaugural running of the Foshan International Invitational RC Championship last December, hosts GDC Indoor Race Club in Guangdong, China, has confirmed the date for the 2024 edition.  Confirming the 2nd edition will run on December 5-8, a week earlier than last year, the FIRC Championship was created with the goal of providing local racers with an opportunity to see some of the best drivers in the world in action while also getting to race against them.  The inaugural event did exactly that with Mugen Seiki’s Ronald Volker coming away as the winner ahead of China’s Vening Zhuo and Japan’s Yugo Nagashima.  Opened in May of 2023,  GDC Indoor track is 800 square metres making it the largest professional indoor onroad track in China.  Also housing an offroad carpet track, later this month it will also host the FEMCA 1:10 Offroad Championship, the governing body of RC racing that represents 15 nations in Asia and Australasia bringing back the category title after the race’s absence for a number of years.

2025 Charity Race – Announcement

Having raised thousands of euros for local charities since its inception, the organisers of the annual Charity Race in Italy has announced a new earlier date for the 2025 edition of the popular Electric Touring Car event.  Organised each year by ASD Team La Gang, the Charity Race will take place on January 11/12 at the RC Landia indoor carpet track in Scandiano.  Having clashed with the legendary TITC in Bangkok, Thailand, this year, the earlier running of the 2025 edition should boost the number of factory drivers in attendance.  Schumacher’s Michal Orlowski has won the past two editions of the race which over the years since beginning in 2010 counts reigning World Champion Bruno Coelho and former Champions Marc Rheinard, Ronald Volker and Alexander Hagberg among its winners.  The club are always keen to highlight the main goal of the race stating, ‘Remember, this race is all about giving back!  All proceeds will be donated to support children in need.  Join us for a fun-filled weekend of racing while making a positive impact on the lives of these youngsters.’

Hall defends British 4WD title with Rd 4 double win

Team Associated’s Tommy Hall has successfully defended his BRCA British 4WD Buggy National Championship title with his fourth consecutive win of the 2024 season.  Winning the title for the first time last year at the penultimate round, Hall got the job done a round earlier this time round as he took the win at the fourth round hosted by Bury Metro Radio Car Club.  Qualifying 2nd behind team-mate Thomas Phipps, who claimed his first ever Nationals TQ, Hall took the opening two A2 mains to secure the win and put the title beyond the reach of his rivals.   With Phipps second, the Xray of 3rd place qualifier Jonny Skidmore completed the Round 4 podium.  The day before his title win, Saturday’s wet 2WD action would also see Hall come away with victory.  Qualifying third behind reigning Champion Neil Cragg and Top Qualifier Ben Smith, Hall managed to take A1 & A3 to deny Smith and take his second win of the season while Cragg, winner of the season opener, completed the podium.  With two rounds remaining, Hall holds a 2-point championship advantage over Smith with Cragg a further point behind.

Harper wins BRCA Round 3 at Adur

Schumacher’s Elliot Harper has won the third round of the BRCA 1:10 Electric Touring Car British National Championship.   Having lead a Schumacher 1-2 at the previous round last month at West London, Harper this time lead an all Mi9 podium at the Adur track with Andy Murray second and Chris Grainger 3rd.  In qualifying it was Harper who took the TQ ahead of Grainger but a p5 in A1 would allow Murray to demote him one place over the double A-Mains.  In 13.5T it was also victory for Schumacher with top international 1:12 racer Ollie Payne taking the TQ and win ahead of young Charlie Colby and Billy Fletcher.  The penultimate stop of the 5 round British Nationals travels to Stafford on August 3/4.

Kato & Kaino crowned JMRCA National Champions

Team Associated pairing Kouki Kato and Yui Kaino took the titles at this year’s JMRCA 1:10 Electric Offroad Japanese National Championships.  Returning to the indoor RC Park Gojo track where he won both the 2WD and 4WD Buggy titles last year, 18-year-old Kato would secure the TQ in 2WD after topping 2 of the 3 rounds of qualifying with team-mate Yui Kaino topping Q3 to secure P2 on the grid.   In 4WD qualifying the pair switched order with fastest times in Q1 & Q3 giving 2022 2WD Champion Kaino the TQ.  In the finals Kato successfully defended his 2WD title with wins in the opening two A-Mains while in 4WD Kaino regained the title as he also won the opening two encounters.  In both categories the podiums were completed by Xray drivers with third place going to Shoya Yamazaki in 2WD and Nana Kaiho 4WD.
