We briefly covered the ROAR Carpet Nationals that took place last weekend and frustratingly have still to find any images from the finals day, so i was happy when i stumbled upon this picture from SpeedMerchants press release celebrating their clean sweep at the event.

You may recall that we mentioned Australian racer Ari Bakla yesterday as he dominated the truggy class at the AWJ Nitro Challenge. Last weekend saw the Norwegian Nationals take place on a large indoor track organised by the Spydeberg Motorklubb. In 19T it was young 13 year old Xray driver Adrian Berntsen who won 4 of the 5 qualifying rounds to take the TQ spot. In the race Adrien managed to carry forward his qualifying pace to win 2 finals to take the National title, despite huge pressure from fellow Xray racer Helge Johannessen who ended up 2nd with Tamiya racer Morten Bremsrud in 3rd. In the Modified class it Helge Johannessen managed to win all the qualfiying rounds to take the TQ spot ahead of Tamiya racer Eirik Andreassen and Adrian Bernsten. In the race it was even closer with Helge taking the win in final 1 with Eirik in 2nd while in final 2 these results were reversed meaning it all came down to the last final.
So in the third final Eirik and I went off with only 0.1sec between us. But I drove safely, and felt that I had full control from the start. After 2 minutes, Eirik’s car broke down, and I secured the win.

Elliot Harper continued his winning ways, this time by TQ’ing and winning the final round of the Rug Racers championship that took place last weekend. The Hot Bodies racer tried a variety of different setup options on his way to the top qualifying spot and then managed to win both finals to take the overall win in the Modified class.

Last weekend saw the running of the delayed final round of the Midlands Astro Masters Series at one of the country’s premiere buggy tracks, Kidderminster. In the 4wd class it was TTech racer Tom Yardy that took the pole position and proceeded to lead from the start only to roll on lap 2, dropping him back into the pack and allowing Richard Barton to take the lead. Tom then started to fight back, managing to get back up to the sharp end of the field and eventually regaining the lead only to roll again in the closing moments leaving Barton to take the win ahead of Yardy, with Matt Dodd, 5 seconds back, in 3rd.
In the 2wd class it was more close and exciting racing with Phil Sleigh leading off from the pole position only to be caught after a small mistake by the chasing pair of Lee Martin and Tony Truman. The latter gaining the lead in the closing stages only to go wide in a corner which allowed Phil back to the front and to take the win by 0.3 of a second ahead of Truman with Martin in 3rd.

Last week we reported on the running of the New Zealand Nationals for Electric touring that were held at the Manawatu track in which Jake Zarb won the pro class. Well at the same event in the Stock class it was Leon Dravitzki that was fastest in qualifying and took the pole position spot ahead of Stephen Li in 2nd and Philip Wong in 3rd. Once in the race Leon could easily take the win in the first and second final to take the overall title ahead of Li and Wong who finished 2nd and 3rd repectively.

The 2007 ROAR Carpet Nationals, that took place at the CEFX Raceway in Toledo Ohio, are over and this years event was full of exciting and close racing. In the Touring Mod class it was Xray driver Barry Baker that caused the upset by taking the win ahead of pole man, and Corally team driver, Chris Tosolini who finished 2nd. Trinity racer Mike Blackstock finished this event in 3rd ahead of team mate Mike Dumas, with track owner Josh Cyrul in 5th. In the 1/12th Mod class it all went to plan for pole man Mike Dumas who won the event, albeit needing a time tie breaker to take the position, ahead of a close 2nd placed Mike Blackstock with Josh Cyrul taking the final podium spot in 3rd. The 19T touring class ended as it had started with Xray driver Paul LeMieux winning the event ahead of team mate Travis Schreven with Josh Cyrul once more gaining a podium spot in the 3rd spot.

The first round of the French electric buggy Nationals took place this weekend at an indoor track in Rapport de Cloture. The race was split amongst several classes and in the 4wd Mod class it was Linonel Labez that took the win ahead of Tamiya driver Cedric Devilliers who finished 2nd with 3rd place going to new X-Factory driver Antoine Rossetti. In the 2wd Modified class it was Ligue 10 round 1 winner Xavier Ansellem that took the win ahead of Losi racer and event TQ Geoffrey Petit who finished 2nd, just ahead of 3rd placed Alexander Valente.
