The recent January round of the Silverstone Winter Series saw Charlie Ware scoring the biggest win of his R/C career. He comfortably set the 2WD TQ, and took the win in front of his team mates Tom Yardy and Nathan Waters. In the 4WD class there was a close battle between Richard Barton and Matt Owen with Richard eventually taking the win with Matt 2nd and Dave Burton 3rd.

The 2016 edition of the Russian Touring Masters will take place from the 25th of 27th of March in St. Petersburg, Russia. The third installation of the event will be held in the three classes of Touring Modified, Touring Stock 17.5T Blinky and Touring Stock 13.5T with the latter class using select motor and speedo combos. Beside the fastest Russian drivers the race will see the appearance of some fast international racers such as Viljami Kutvonen, Max Mächler, and Marcel Geiger. This past weekend round 2 of the Finnish SC Winter Cup was held at the Nokia RC track. After the qualifiers Mikko Maula, Martti Myllyntaus and Tony Liljeqvist occupied the top 3 spots with a great margin but during the finals Mikko got nervous but in the end managed to win the opening final with Tony winning the second leg and Martti the third, so the overall win was up for grabs before the fourth and decisive leg. Eventually Mikko Maula took the win with Mikael Yrjänäinen in second place and Tony Liljeqvist in third, leaving Martti Myllyntaus in fourth.

The Ohio R/C Factory placed host for last weekend’s CRCRC Electric Winter Midwest Championships and in the 4WD Short Course class Kyle Rhodes would take the TQ for the triple A-mains. A-main 1 started out great for the pole sitter. He quickly opened up a gap and pulled away from the field. With just about a minute left Kyle had nearly an entire lap on the field but a computer error caused the race director to stop the race and he made the call to re-run the race. For the re-run of A1 Kyle repeated what he did in the first race and took the win. A2 went very similar as A1. Rhodes managed to pull away from the field and take the win and the overall victory for the weekend. Josh McDonald and Eric DeVos would end the day in second and third respectively.

The 2016 Australian racing season kicked off in a big way with the 2016 Keilor GForce Invitational held at the Keilor track in Melbourne, Australia. Running a Reedy Race style format of head-head racing with 2WD and 4WD buggies, this year’s event saw a huge surge in entries with racers from all around Australia and close to 180 buggies running over the weekend on a new clay track constructed for the event. The Invitational classes were run over 5 heats of 2WD and 5 heats of 4WD, and Open classes were offered with the winner getting an invite to the 2017 Invite class. Unique to this event, classes are run for both Modified and 17.5T buggies.

After being with Horizon Hobby and TLR for four year Germany’s Burak and Berkan Kilic have made the switch to Nemo Racing for the 2016 season and beyound. The successful siblings will use the use the Agama A215 nitro buggy, the forthcoming A215E E-buggy as well as the A8T truggy along Bullitt engines and Beta tyres. The former German 1/8th Nitro Truggy Junior Champions along father and mentor Abdullah “Apo” Kilic have the following to say about the deal:
After four years of being with Horizon Hobby we are switching over to Nemo Racing UK. It’s been a fantastic four years for us and we would like to thank Horizon Hobby and especially Mr. and Mrs. Schamuhn for the fantastic support. The tenth round of the Greek Sweep Challenge was held at the RC Ring indoor race track. Xray driver Tasos Batas swept the qualifying by winning all rounds and he would continue to lead the proceedings in the finals as he took the win in all legs with a huge margin on second placed Isaakidis (Tamiya) and third placed Totomis (Capricorn). Vasilopoulos (TOP) and Papadakis (Yokomo) rounded out the top 5 result.

The third round of the 2015/16 Mibosport Cup was held this past weekend at the Hotel-Sport in Hrotovice. The event attracted a total of 246 entries with 114 drivers signing in for the on-road classes while the off-road classes had 132 entries in total. The qualifying of the Touring Car Modified class was won by Kuba Simurda and right from the start of the first A-main, Kuba made his intentions clear as he was able to open a considerable gap on his rivals and he eventually came out successful in A1. Behind him, Helmut Frauenschum finished in second place as he managed to overtake Jiri Vysin who ended A1 in third place. The second A-main then again saw a dominating Kuba who controlled the gap to his nearest rivals Mario Sowka, Jiri Vysin and Zdenko Kunak and this would then also be the result of the second final. The third and final A-main was very similar to the second one as Kuba was in the lead again ahead of Mario, Jiri and Zdenko. The order did not change till the end of the final and so Kuba Simurda took the overall victory with Mario Sowka and Jiri Vysin completing the podium.
