The French Cup for 1/10th off-road buggies took place in Nantes this past weekend. Xray driver Armand Lantheaume dominated the race by first taking TQ in the 4WD class in front of Stéphane Deroch (Xray) and Florent Jadot (Xray). He then also went on to win the A final, again with Stéphane and Florent in tow who completed the podium.

The 2013 Southern Nationals and R/C Expo took place at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe, LA. The event was a huge success with over 300 entries. Three rounds of qualifying were run on Saturday, followed by lower nitro mains and the first round of electric mains. The remaining two rounds of electric mains and upper nitro mains were run on Sunday. Adam Drake had a mechanical issue in the first round of nitro buggy, but TQ’ed round two and three to take the top qualifying honours in 1/8th nitro buggy. At the start of the 45 minute nitro buggy final, Drake was hit and sent to the rear of the field but he was able to quickly move his way back to the front and had a good battle with Taylor Peterson and Ryan Lutz before taking control of the race and settling into a comfortable lead. Drake took the victory followed by Lutz and Peterson.

Team Rebels announce their seven round Winter race series, the Rebels Race. The meetings will be held in Turtnov, Czech Republic, not far from the Polish boarder and are run in Touring Car Open, Stock 17.5T, Hobby 4WD, Formula, GT and Yokomo GT classes. The first round starts this weekend, October 12th with round number seven being held in April 2014. More information and all dates can be found here.
Thunder Alley R/C Raceway and the Pro-Line Test Track play host for The Dual, a unique 2-day event on the weekend of the 27th of October. Run in 1/8th Nitro Sportsman, Intermediate and Expert, 1/8th Open E-buggy and invitational Buggy and Truggy classes the race schedule sees three races at Thunder Alley Raceway on Saturday and three on the Pro-Line track on Sunday, with one throw out at each venue counting the best four to award the winners on Sunday evening. The fourth and final instalment of the 2013 Victorian Drivers Series was held at the regional club of Wodonga, 3 hours North of Melbourne. The small but dedicated track crew put together a track that was truly worthy of the term off-road. The sugar free blue groove track provided close and fast racing that left the drivers and spectators with smiles ear to ear. 4WD Open was well suited to the fast and open track. Qualifying was a clean sweep of B44.2’s with Glen Bonetti at TQ, Paris in 2nd and Andrew Selvaggi in 3rd. Glen was able to take both A1 and A2 to take home the win followed by Andrew in 2nd and Leigh Cheeseman finishing 3rd.

The 2013 Reedy Truck Race of Champions were held at Hot Rod Hobbies in Santa Clarita, CA just one week after the IFMAR 1/10 Electric Off-Road Worlds. With very windy conditions on Friday, limited practice was available. Most drivers would show up Saturday morning for practice till mid day and qualifying starting at 12:00pm. Saturday would also see windy conditions throughout the day with the final’s Sunday had perfect conditions to offer. In Modified Truck Kyosho/Team Orion factory driver Cody Turner took TQ in round 2 and 3 to take the overall TQ. Turner then went on to win A-Main number 1 and 3 to take the overall win in the Modified Truck class; this victory would also be Cody’s first career Pro win. Kyosho/Team Orion’s Jared Tebo would take 2nd overall by finishing 2nd in A-Main 1 and winning A-Main leg 2. Team Associated/Team Orion ace Ryan Cavalieri took 3rd overall after finishing 2nd in A-Main 2 and 2nd in A-Main 3.

The final round of the Austrian Electric Buggy nationals took place at the Steyregg track near Linz. The meeting was postponed due to the poor weather back in July. The crew did a great job to rebuild the track and they also mixed cement into the natural clay to increase the grip and durability of the surface. As Hupo Hönigl was on its way to the U.S. to test his 1/12th cars in the wake of the IIC the best chances to take the overall victory were in the hands of Team Associated’s Stefan Pfeifhofer and Yokomo driver Rene Trauner with Martin Kreil (Durango) having a slight chance to take the 4WD class.

The recent 2013 Reedy Truck Race saw TLR driver David Jenson dominating the 4WD Short Course truck qualifying to take the overall TQ position with his Orion powered Ten SCTE 2.0 truck. David went on to lap everyone in both A-Main number 1 and 2 to take home the win with TLR’s Kevin Kimberly finishing 2nd to give Team Losi Racing a 1-2 sweep of the podium.
