The 2013 JMRCA electric off-road championship took place at the World renown Yatabe Arena and it was Yokomo driver and 2012 double national Buggy champion Naoto Matsukura who took the win in the 4WD class using the recently announced B-Max4 III buggy. Kyosho’s Yusuke Sugiura took the runner-up sport followed by Keisuke Enomoto (Yokomo).

The sixth and final round of the BRCA Truggy and Electric 1/8th Buggy Championship again was run at a new venue for the championship. Notts and Derby Off Road club was the location, the track has over the years had a major face-lift from a predominantly 1/5th scale track and does now have some good jump sections moulded into the Astro surface. As the drivers assembled, all eyes were on the top drivers as both of the championships had to be decided on the final day. E8 Buggy started the meeting off and straight away it was evident who was fighting for the championship. Craig Drescher drew the first blood being one of three drivers to complete their run in 9 laps. The second qualifying run saw Stuart Mahon in 4th joining David Crompton and Simon Willetts in the 9 lap club. The final round saw Simon Willetts upsetting the apple cart winning the final qualifying run with an impressive run of 9/322.33. This resulted with the overall TQ position going to Craig Drescher as it as the best two rounds to count.

Maritime Raceway announce the return of their popular Off Road Wars Winter Championship for 2013/14. Horizon UK/TLR confirm their continuing sponsorship and support of the series which will be hosted once again at Maritime’s permanent indoor off-road facility at the Historic Chatham Dockyards and will once more offer some closely contested racing on a challenging, multi-surface track whilst providing power and pitting facilities of over 100 drivers and offering hot and cold food and drink on-site for the racers. Separate 2WD and 4WD championships will be run concurrently and spaces will be limited so be sure to get your entries in soon and register your interest in what is surely going to be another exciting and successful winter indoor championship. Following Saturday’s TC Championship the Open Polish 1/10th electric Buggy Championship was held at the Polish Automobile Club race track in Warsaw, Poland. Following beautiful weather on Saturday overnight rain completely flooded the clay track forcing the organisers to cancel the morning’s practice session but the race ultimately started around lunch break time. This left enough time for a round of controlled practice and three qualifying heats. The final race result was then taken from the qualifying standings.

Following the 1/8th Offroad FEMCA Championships in Fengtai, China, attention turned to the ISTC portion of the championships which is held on the outdoor asphalt track on the opposite side of the softball stadium to the buggy track. In the modified class attention was on Atsushi Hara, who was driving a Tamiya, to see if he could pull off the double having taken the buggy title a few days previously. Following free practice there was 5 rounds of qualifying in which Hara stamped his authority on the event buy taken the TQ spot for the triple mains in front of Wang Hai Feng driving a TOP in 2nd and Chan Chau Man in 3rd for Xray. In the finals it was Hara who took the win in A1 but a problem in A2 meant he didn’t finish and so Chau Man took the win ahead of Feng and Samuel Chiu in 3rd. Hara would win again in A3 to secure the overall while Chau Man would take 2nd overall with Feng rounding out the podium in 3rd. In the Stock class it was victory for Chan Kalok, with the top 3 after qualifying not changing order meaning Bilguunbaater Erdenbaater was 2nd and Lai Bin 3rd.
This past Saturday saw the Polish Open 1:10 electric TC Championships run by the Polish Model Car Federation and hosted by ATA Racing Team at the well-known Polish Automobile Club race track in Warsaw, Poland. This time the weather was beautiful, sunny but not so hot and dry and the conditions at the sugared asphalt track were perfect. It was one day event, one controlled practice heat, then 4 round of qualifying and 3 finals. The TC Modified class was dominated young Team Durango driver Michal Orlowski. The new TC Junior European Champion did a perfect job at his home track in Warsaw / Poland winning all 4 qualifying heats and 3 final runs as well. In addition Michal established new track record driving the latest Team Durango DETC410 prototype car powered by SpeedPassion electrics. Second spot went to Piotr Okonski, Michal’s former Tamiya team mate, driving his Tamiya / Raceberry conversion TRF417x car with third spot going to Team Yokomo Poland driver Bartosz Pochopien.

The fast-flowing track of the MAC De Baanbrekers club in Rucphen was the venue to host the fifth round of the Dutch touring car stock nationals. Gaining enough points would mean the championship could be decided early in John Bruins’ favour with round 6 still to come late September. On Saturday most participants made the journey down South to get some practice before the event on Sunday, however the day would prove to be a complete wash out with only a few drivers been brave enough to go out in the rain. With the weather forecast for Sunday being overcast arriving at a dry track in the morning was a big relief to many drivers and the action got under way soon.

After the recent FEMCA 1/8th off-road and electric touring car championships the next important evened of the Far East Model Car Associated is around the corner. The 2013 1/10th electric off-road championships will take place from the 25th to 27th of October in Taichung City, Taiwan. The race will see 2WD and 4WD Buggy races as well as a 4WD Short Course class and the event is run on a purpose built track.
