Birinyi & Kálnay win in Budapest

The 4th round of the RCProf Speedpassion Challenge was held in Budapest racing Stock 13.5T and Modified touring car. The 13.5T Stock class had Xray driver János Birinyi taking TQ after winning all of the three qualifying rounds. He then went on to win the first and second A final to take the day’s win early. Gábor Forrai and Péter Taál completed the top 3 result. In the Modified class Barnabás Tóth and Zsolt Kálnay where fighting for the pole position with the better end for Barnabás but come the finals Zsolt was able to grab the win in A1 and A2 after the leader made early mistakes allowing Zsolt to pass. This handed him the overall win in front of Barnabás Tóth and Christian Faur.

JConcepts Indoor National Series ’14 – Announcement

JConcepts Indoor National Series '14 - Announcement

JConcepts, together with many fine sponsors and race tracks, have organized a first of its kind, a true Indoor National Series. The first 3 years combined attracted over 3000 entries.  2014 is scheduled as a 5 race series across the United States, drivers now have the opportunity to showcase their abilities on a national and regional level. Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall nationals make up the seasonal events at fixed locations while the finals will serve as the end of the year bash for the awards and series championship. The series will be awarded based on points participation in 3 out of the 5 events.

John Cravotta doubles at Maine State Champs

The weekend of January 4 saw the running of the Maine State Championship at Maximus RC.  The weather was cold outside, but nice and warm inside for racers from all over New England. X Factory sent Team driver John Cravotta up from Massachusetts, and he did not disappoint, winning both buggy and SC. In mod buggy it was all X-6 cubed as Cravotta TQed both round of qualifying, setting a blistering 17 laps 5:08 on the small Maine track.  John checked out in the A main with a tone-to-tone dash, improving his qualifying time by a second.

JConcepts Super Cup Rd4 report

At the end of December, Florida’s top 10th scale racers descended upon Shiverville Raceway for the final round of JConcepts Super Cup Series Fall session. Most classes were still up for grabs as some classes were in a tie for the title of Champion. Racers arrived to the track in High Springs Florida early on Friday to work on setups. On Saturday everyone was at the track by daylight for the last hours of practice before racing began at 9:30am. Racers had to adapt to a more “old school” track condition with a loamy surface as sunlight was in short supply and moisture was plentiful.

2014 Asia Contest – Announcement

2014 Asia Contest - Announcement

Bittydesign together with distributor Team RC Pro & PRC staff have announced the 2014 Asia Contest, an event born in 2013 with a successful race format that saw the participation of racers from all neighboring countries and known for its fun atmosphere. The International Pattaya RC Power Boat World track continues as the venue for the event which is set to take place from the 2nd to the 4th of May 2014. Limited to 192 drivers nitro buggy, split between Pro and Open class it will again be a 3 day format running from Friday with free practice, Saturday qualifications and the special one-off race ‘Thai VS Foreigners’ for the top qualifiers. Sunday will be the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) followed by Superpole and finals. More information can be found here.

Motter wins Top Notch Winter Series Rd2

This past weekend was the second round of the season for the Top Notch Winter Series. Averaging about 200 entries at each event, the TNS is continuing to grow and be very successful. Round number two was held at Coyote Hobbies in sunny Victorville, CA. With just under 300 entries and 33 heats this would be a very competitive and fun day of racing. Team Associated/Reedy’s Kevin Motter and his B4.2 Factory Team with Centro conversion were on point in the first round of 2WD Modified Buggy qualifying. He set the early TQ and the time to beat. As the first round went exceptionally well for the young driver, the second round brought a a couple bobbles and Motter lost the overall TQ. Starting from second on the grid, Motter had his work cut out for him.

Fluke wins final in Malaysia as Jessel takes title

The final round of the Malaysian National Championship was held on the 29th December at the newly open 3 Stone Park Onroad track in Glenmarie, Shah Alam. The title would be decided in the final round between 2 Team Serpent drivers, Jessel Leong and Nick Chong, who were only separated by 1 point. Kimie driving a Capricorn still had a mathematical chance of winning the title, needing both the Serpent drivers to falter and to take a podium result himself. After completion of the qualifying heats another Serpent driver,Fluke took the TQ with his 977.

Mibosport Cup 2013/14 Rd4 – Report

The 4th round of the Mibosport Cup 2013/14 was held in Hrotovice again last weekend. A total of 150 drivers from 5 European countries signed up for the event with 87 drivers attending in the on-road and 58 in the off-road classes. Qualifying of the Touring Car Modified class didn’t end up well for top Czech driver Radek Flek, who had to finish all the qualifying sessions early due to technical problems with electronics and qualified only to the final C. Michal Orlowski (POL) took the TQ ahead of Kuba Šimurda (CZE) and David Nemček (SVK). The first final won Michal Orlowski, with Kuba Šimurda and Jiří Vyšín (CZE) behind. Michal Orlowski had to retire from the second final meaning Kuba Šimurda took the victory ahead of David Nemček and Jiří Vyšín. Michal Orlowski made a comfortable pace and won the third final ahead of Kuba Šimurda and David Nemček. The overall first place went to Michal Orlowski with Kuba Šimurda and David Nemček completing the podium. Final B was won by Tomáš Marek (CZE) and the final C by Radek Flek.
