Garcia & Eres win Spanish Federation touring car titles

The last round of the Spanish Federation national championship took place at the Amsa track in Barcelona. Run in Modified and Stock touring car the race saw a good turnout of racers who suffered from unstable weather conditions. In the end it was Gonzalo Garcia (Serpent) who took the winning honours in the Stock class followed by Tony Mur (Xray) and Roger Sancho (Yokomo). With the win Gonzalo also secured himself the 2013 Stock championship title in front of Vicente Eres (VBC) and Roger Sancho. In the Modified category Carlos Ferrando (Tamiya) secured the day’s win in front of Vincente Eres (VBC) and Raul Sancho (Schumacher). The second place was good enough for Vincente to grab the 2013 Modified title in front of Raul Sancho and Carlos Ferrando.

2013 North-West Championship Tour finale – Report

2013 North-West Championship Tour finale – Report

The 2013 North-West Championship Tour (NCT) finale was held this past weekend in Pasco, WA. This would be the 6th and final stop of this years series. Over the past 6 months, the NCT Series has hit six of the best outdoor tracks in The Great North-West. The race schedule saw controlled practice on Friday, three qualifying rounds on Saturday and lower bump-up mains and triple A-mains on Sunday. In 2WD Modified Buggy Kyosho’s Joe Pillars went on to TQ all three rounds of qualifying while Kyosho’s Austin Seim went onto take the wins in A-main number 1 and 2 to take the 2WD Modified Buggy overall win for the weekend. Pillars would finish 2nd in the first two A-mains after a great battle with Austin, and took a convincing win in the last A-main to finish 2nd overall. Roger Seim put in a strong showing during all three A-Mains and would tie for 3rd overall with AE’s Chris Nealeigh. After the tie breaker was calculated by each drivers 2 best finishes along with laps and times added together, it was Nealeigh just edging out Seim for 3rd overall.

DJ Apolaro wins Sedan at ROAR Onroad nationals

This past weekend the ROAR Fuel On-road Nationals were held in California at the Greater LA RC club track. The parking lot track was nicely prepared but proofed to be tough on the tyres making tyre strategy an important point for the finals. Many drivers tried to bring home two first good runs in order to try and test tyres for the finals during the other rounds. In the 1/10th 200mm sedan class it was Mike Swauger who took the TQ honours followed by Ralph Burch, DJ Apolaro and Paolo Morganti in fourth.

Agustin Cutini TQ's and wins Argentinian Truggy Nats

Last weekend the Argentinian Truggy National Championship took place at last year’s Buggy World Championship track near Buenos Aires. Mugen driver Agustin Cutini took TQ with his Novarossi-powered truck and also went on to win the final ahead of Sebastian Recio (Mugen/Novarossi) and Nicolas Bregante (Xray/Team Orion. Agama driver Lucas Cribari and Alvaro Colombo (TLR) completed the top 5.

Victor Pelaez win Madrid Champs Rd4

The 4th round of the Madrid Champs took place in Asoger with the race was used by many as practice session for next week’s Spanish Nationals at the same track. At the end of the 30 minute final it was Serpent’s Victor Pelaez who took the win one lap ahead of team mate Juan Antonio Hidalgo with David Lopez Garcia completing the top 3.

Peter Harder wins 40+ Nitro Buggy Euros

The 2013 40+ European Buggy Championship took place at the Bistensee track in the very North of Germany. Rune Karlsen (Kyosho/OS) from Norway took the overall TQ after qualifying but Peter Harder (Hot Bodies/OS) and Mats Angseryd  (Xray/OS) also looked very fast on track. The weather proofed to be very unreliable with a mix of rain showers and sun and this made things interesting over the final day. In the 45 minute main Peter managed to build a gab on Rune and Mats quite quickly and also took benefit of his two followers battling it out for second place. At the end Peter brought home the win and the 2013 40+ title some 20 seconds in front of Rune with Mats completing the podium only one lap down.

Tasos Paparegas wins Greek Buggy Champs

The last round of Greek 1/8th off-road championship took place at the Fanatix track in Athens, Greece. During qualification Papanikolaou proofed to be very fast on his home track so it was no wonder that he took TQ after four rounds of qualifying in front of T Paparegas and J Paparegas. In the 45 minute final Tasos Paparegas took the lead five minutes into the race and never looked back. Polesitter Papanikolaou had bad luck as an engine flame out letting him drop back to 8th but he soon recovered. Finally Tasos and his Xray XB9 won easily with a difference three laps ahead of Papanikolaou.

Akio Sobue wins Speed King Tour East 2013 Rd3

The third round of the Kazuki Endo presented Speed King Tour East 2013 took place at the world famous Yatabe Arena in Japan. The meeting was held in Modified TC, Stock TC, JMRCA TC and Yokomo GT500 classes and it was young Yokomo driver Yugo Nagashima who won the 2nd round of the series and took TQ again in the modified TC class of round 3. TRF driver Akio Sobue captured the second spot after qualifying and Hayato Ishioka held the 3rd place with his Kyosho TF6SP. Making use of the usual ‘first corner chaos’ in the Modified A final Akio moved up to the first spot while Yugo lost a lot of positions. Yugo though recovered during the 5 minute run but was not able to catch Akio who took the winning honours with his TRF418 prototype. Yugo finished second, Kiyoto Kanno completed the podium. When it comes to the overall championship Yugo kept his top position after round 3 going into the series final that will take place at the Crest Speedway on the first weekend of November.
