Rug Racers 2012/13 – Announcement

The organisers of the popular Rug Racers series have announced their 2012/13 championship with the series getting underway on Sunday October 7th at the superb Woodson Park venue. A donation from the first round will go to the Great Ormond Street Hospital so they are looking for as many racers as possible to come along. Sign up is now open and the dates for the monthly rounds from November through to March, can also be seen on the Central Booking website. This year, top class touring car racing in 13.5T and 17.5T will be joined by a Mardave National championship and a focus on junior racers.

Burch & Starkey win at Great Lake Challenge

The 14th annual Great Lake Challenge was held at the newly paved Woodville Mall track in Toledo Ohio. The qualifications were set to start on Friday with two round and three more rounds on Saturday, with the single best round counting overall. The GLC track is always a little tough on mileage and this year was no exception with the new pavement and high traction. Team Xray was well represented with drivers from all over the US to support one of the best races in the country.

Carlos Fernandez at Spanish on-road nats

The final round of the Spanish on-road nationals was held at the ARCA track in Madrid, the host of the Stock European Championships. VBC Racing driver Carlos Fernandez swept the stock TC class by pulling the fastest lap and heat time and also winning the A final.

Indoor Nordic Champs 2012 – Announcement

The Indoor Nordic Champs 2012 for electric touring cars and 1/12th scale will be held next to the city of Oulu. Organised by the OSPA club the venue is the same as used during the Electric Offroad Nordics and the 2013 1/12th scale European Championships and the purpose build track is 26x14m in size and made up from pipes and dots. The race will be held as 2 day event with practice on Friday and the actual race on Saturday and Sunday. The handout spec tire for TC is Sweep QTS Pre-Mount 28, the tires are available at the race and only tires bought from the organizer are allowed at the race. Track will be 26x14m size build mostly with pipes and some dots. Find more information about the race here.

2012 Surf City Classic – Report

Each year, racers in Southern California flock to OCRC Raceway for the annual Surf City Classic. A combination of Pro drivers, out of town racers, OCRC loyalists and a great rookie class make the Surf City a great location for all racers. A fresh track layout and state of the art overhead misting system, and announcing by Nick “the suit” Black sets this track apart. A revamped and updated hobby shop managed by the one and only Jake “Jackie” Thayer, you couldn’t ask for a better staffed event. Straight out of the gates the JConcepts team came out swinging taking several TQ’s. The Bar Codes in gold compound provided the grip on the challenging track for most including TLR/JConcepts and AE/JConcepts drivers Dustin Evans and Steven Hartson who looked unbeatable in their respective classes. Drivers scrambled as track conditions changed throughout the weekend but the round 1 quick drivers remained up front and took the overall TQ positions, Dustin Evans (2wd modified), Steven Hartson (4wd modified and 1/8th E-buggy), Kody Numedahl (2wd SCT), Kevin Motter (2wd and truck stock) and Brent Thielke (modified truck – Finnisher T4.1 body).

7th Petit RC Race – Announcement

The 7th Petit RC Race will take place at the Mustit Raceway in Moss/Norway from the 11th to 13th of January. After successful events in France and the UK, both run on carpet tracks, the Petit RC crew will create something completely new as the 2013 race will be held on an US-style indoor clay track. Adam Drake double at Sidewinder Nitro Explosion

The 9th Sidewinder Nitro Explosion took place at the ARC Raceway in Temecula, California. Taking the top grid position in the expert nitro truck, expert nitro buggy, and expert electric buggy class was TLR driver Adam Drake. He was able to TQ eight out of nine rounds of qualifying. Only Ryan Maifield was able to to grab one round in nitro buggy class over Drake. The 45 minutes truck final was a battle between Drake, Cavalieri, and Maifield. Cavalieri lead most of the race, but Drake took over the lead with four minutes to go. Shortly after Cavalieri had problems and Drake cruised to victory with Josh Wheeler in second and Carson Wernimont in third position.

Francisco Henriques wins Portuguese TC nats Rd4

The fourth round of the Portuguese TC nationals took place in Sintra. The fast and flowing track lacked grip due to the fact that the circuit was closed for all of August but the conditions were the same for everyone although some teams struggled to get the cars running properly. Come Sunday morning the qualifying heats started and Francisco Henriques showed a very good pace and qualified 2nd for the A-main with Hugo Miguel setting TQ. Both were chased by José Carvalho. Come the finals Francisco Henriques had some troubles in the first main but managed to secure the win in the second and third run handing him the win with Hugo Miguel in second and José Carvalho in third overall position.
