Cody King does double at JBRL Rd3

Southern California’s hotly contested JBRL series invaded Milestone RC Park in Riverside California yesterday. The race attracted some of the biggest names in RC, including Adam Drake, recently crowned ROAR National Champion Ryan Cavalieri, current IFMAR World Champion Cody King, Travis Amezcua, Brent Thielke, Chad Bradley, and a host of other Southern California fast guys. The race at Milestone always draws a big turnout because the facility is inside the Motocross park, and many of the drivers like to bring out their bikes and ride as well.

Champion Rheinard takes first 2010/11 ETS win

Current ETS champion Marc Rheinard secured his first win as champion of the series today by claiming the top step on the podium at Apeldoorn in the Netherlands. The fifth & penultimate round of the 2010/11 Yokomo Euro Touring Series, the Tamiya Racing Factory driver took the win over Yannic Prumper, winning of the day’s third A-main, and Top Qualifier Jilles Groskamp.

Groskamp wins opening final

Top Qualifier Jilles Groskamp has won the opening leg of the Xenon Modified A-Main at the fifth round of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Apeldoorn in a rather uneventful race. The Dutch ace took an easy victory leading from start to finish to win from TRF team-mate Marc Rheinard and Yokomo’s Yannic Prumper.

Nick Lefebvre wins Texas Biggie

The 34th annual Texas Biggie was held Memorial Day weekend in Rendon, Texas, just south of the Dallas/ Fort Worth Metroplex. This race has a long history of being the “race to attend” and draws drivers from all over the United States. Over the years, this race has been won by some of the world’s best, which includes the current IFMAR world champion, Team Xray driver, Ralph Burch. Team RC America/Xray was in full force and ready to represent during this three day event of six qualifiers and the mains.

Midwest Series Rd2 report

The 42nd annual running of the Midwest Series Round 2 was hosted by Nitro Club of Portage, Indiana. The race was held last weekend and classes included 1/8th scale open, 1/8th scale GT and 1/10th 200m. This was an interesting track, a permanent setup but still a parking lot surface making grip challenging and low 18 second lap times with the 10th scale and just getting into the 16’s with 1/8th open. Qualifying was very tight in 1/8th scale after the second round the top 3 cars had been separated by less than .250 of a second. On day two the track was sprayed again and the grip was very high in the morning shuffling the top 8 cars each round. The track really showed who was able to deal with the changes in traction from round to round. The grip level had changed again by the 1/8th final the track had lost some of its early morning grip and slowed by about .4 to .5 per lap. Jeff Zuccarell took the win in 1/8th open with his Murnan Novarossi powered MRX-5 ahead of Lon Burling in 2nd and Ted Hammer in 3rd. In the 1/10th scale class it was Andy Power taking a clear win from Chris Dosech in 2nd and Loran Whiting in 3rd. Finally in the 1/8th GT Open class Mark Lyday won by 3 laps ahead of Mark Rodney in 2nd, with Karl Ennulat 12 laps further back.

Groskamp is Top Qualifier at Apeldoorn

Former two time ETS champion Jilles Groskamp will start his first appearance in the 2010/11 Yokomo Euro Touring Series from pole position tomorrow in Apeldoorn. The Tamiya driver tied on points with team-mate Marc Rheinard and Yokomo’s Yannic Prumper but having produced the fastest 5-minute time of qualifying when he topped Q1 yesterday, the Dutch ace was declared Top Qualifier.

ETS racers dig deep for Japan

Racers competing in the fifth round of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series at the beautiful Apeldoorn track in The Netherlands this weekend dug deep into their pockets this afternoon with an auction in aid of the Red Cross’ Japan Fund raising €1,735 ($2.489). Organised by regular ETS competitor Phil Hoggart, the auction was conducted by legendary race announcer Scotty Ernst providing plenty of entertainment for everyone during a rain shower that interrupted the final round of qualifying. The highest bid made during the auction was for a body shell donated by current World and ETS Champion Marc Rheinard which helped raise €100.

Prümper heads Yokomo 1-2 in Q3

Former ETS race winner Yannic Prümper has TQ’d the third & penultimate round of qualifying at Apeldoorn setting the fastest time by 3/10th of a second over Yokomo team-mate Cyril N’diaye who in turn was a tenth quicker than Tamiya’s Jilles Groskamp in third.
