OneTen Series season titles go to Sobue & Ratheisky

As expected Akio Sobue has taken his 5th overall win of the OneTen Series presented by Infinity and in doing so has wrapped up the overall Sweep Modified title. Winning the 2nd leg of A-mains today in Guangzhou, and setting the fastest lap of the weekend with a 16.984, Akio was the only driver to break into the 16 second lap barrier all weekend to take the title in commanding fashion and allowing him to sit out the final leg.

A1 wins for Akio & Jan at Feiteng Raceway

Infinity driver Akio Sobue has moved a step closer to securing the 2018/19 OneTen Series Modified title as he took an easy win in A1 this afternoon in Guangzhou. The Japanese driver was never challenged and could win by a substantial margin, which had increased to 9 seconds as team mate Sawada crashed on the last lap coming onto the back straight. Having managed to get pass the line before the buzzer Jin was luckily able to maintain his runner up position.

Sobue & Ratheisky to start title deciding finals from pole

Akio Sobue will start Rd5 of the OneTen series presented by Infinity from pole position having wrapped up qualifying in the Sweep Modified class early by taking the opening 2 rounds. Team mate Jin Sawada would take the 3rd and final round to secure 2nd place overall with an improving Gary Huang to start from 3rd place. Local kid Haoran Ma will start an impressive 4th, while Nicholas Lee endured a difficult qualifying to end up 5th just had of Lao Minhao and Jan Ratheisky. Sobue, who can secure the title with a win in today’s 4-minute long triple A-mains, was again happy with his IF14, only adjusting his tire prep during the day and commented that he has saved 2 of his allotted sets of Sweep tires for the finals, the drop off in tire performance in qualifying minimal on the 2nd and 3rd runs.

Guangzhou qualifying Rd1 goes to Sobue

The 3rd stop of the 2018/19 OneTen Series presented by Infinity kicked off with Rd5 getting underway in dry but cool conditions at Feiteng Raceway in Guangzhou, China. It was current championship leader Akio Sobue from Japan that topped the opening round of qualifying. The Infinity driver, as has been the norm this season, headed home his team mate Jin Sawada by 3 seconds. Next up was Chinese national champion and Guangzhou local Gary Huang in 3rd followed by 13 year old Haoran Ma just 2 seconds back, while Jan Ratheisky, who had an incident in traffic completing the top 5. Sobue had rebuilt his car overnight, not happy with the balance of his IF14 following Friday’s free practice. Reverting to a softer variation of his home track setup, which was being used by Sawada, he said the car was now better balanced, having been very loose on Friday.

Kata & Phair win at Hangover race

Barnstormers RC in Chester, New York, held their Hangover race last weekend. The track was hard-packed with a smooth but slightly rocky groove. Bryan Kata would bring home the hardware in 2WD Buggy from Jared Phair on the 2 spot. Anthony Bartholomew came in 3rd to round out the podium. In the 4WD Buggy class Jared Phair kept his cool, bringing home the win on a slicker getting track, leaving behind Bryan Kata in 2nd and Josh Andrews in 3rd.

JConcepts 2019 INS & NCTS – Announcement

JConcepts have announced the Indoor National Series and National Carpet & Turf Series race dates and details for 2019. After eight established seasons, the INS has attracted over 12,000 entries with the goal of bringing the best RC racing experiences to the masses. New to the 2019 season, JConcepts recognizes the growing popularity of carpet and astroturf racing around the US and has partnered up with some amazing tracks to bring you an all new carpet/astro racing experience called the 2019 JConcepts National Carpet/Turf Series. 2019 Jake’s RC Pro-AM Showdown – Announcement

Jake’s RC Pro-AM of Topeka, Kansas will be holding their 8th annual Pro-AM Showdown from March 1st to 3rd. The dirt off-road race expects 200+ entries for the various Modified and Stock Buggy, Stadium Truck and SC Truck classes with Friday being a full day of practice followed by four rounds of qualifying on Saturday and single main events on Sunday. Schumacher Indoor Masters Rd4 – Report

Last weekend was the fourth round of the hugely popular Worksop Series, there was once again a fantastic entry of 165 drivers across the three classes of 2WD, 4WD and the vintage buggy class. As always it was round by round qualifying as the racing format, with the best two results from four rounds of qualifying counting towards the final position. Qualifying in 2WD saw a dominating performance by Neil Cragg, taking TQ in three out of the four rounds to take pole position from Craig Collinson and Jonathan Skidmore.
