Hagberg & Orlowski complete podium at ETS season finale

Alexander Hagberg and Michal Orlowski completed the podium at the Yokomo Euro Touring Series season finale this afternoon in Slovakia.  While Bruno Coelho wrapped up the overall win in A2, the ETS Champion opted to run the third A-Main at Hudy Arena after not being 100% happy with his car in A1 & 2 and again he lead home another stagnated Top 3.  Winning by his biggest margin of the three encounters, Coelho would finish 1.8-seconds up on Hagberg with the result securing Xray another 1-2 finish at their home track.  For Hagberg, today’s 2nd place would also help him to move ahead of Yokomo’s Ronald Volker in the final end of season standings to finish 3rd overall behind Marc Rheinard, the Infinity driver having another difficult weekend.  Finishing A3 over 2-seconds back on Hagberg, Orlowski would cap off an impressive weekend by securing his first ever ETS podium.  Having started his career in the ETS but moved over and becoming a star and champion of the Euro Offroad Series, today’s result should see the Schumacher driver return to his roots and become a contender for the title of both disciplines next season.

Feldmann & Stegmuller take EFRA Large scale titles

The Tourlaville club in Northern France hosted the EFRA On-road Large Scale European Championships last week. The championships would be decided in a Touring Car and the Formula class. In the Touring Car final the result was never in doubt as “Mighty” Markus Feldman took his 7th European title – but more significantly his first since 2010 with a lights to flag victory. Behind him the podium places were always in doubt as a battle royale between 2017 Euro Champ Bernard Arnaldi, up and coming star Patrick Folmann and 2016 Champ Giovanni Verbrugghe entertained the huge crowd for over half the 30 minutes of the final. In the end the Dane Folmann tangled with Arnaldi allowing Verbrugghe to slip past for 2nd. Folmann picked up 3rd when Arnaldi had to retire towards the end much to the disappointment of his fellow countrymen lining the track. This left a jubilant Feldmann to take the trophy, which he described as “Easy” thanks to “The fantastic set up and work from my mechanic”.

Jody Long wins Urban Astro Buggy Champs Rd4

Racing action returned to the Singapore-based Urban PlaySpace astroturf buggy track this past weekend with round 4 of the Astro Buggy Champs. Overnight storms saw racers greeted by a very wet track. However, the quick-dry surface meant that the track was fully raceable after just a short delay to the race programme. The day’s racing action would be in the 2WD class only, with the 4WD event rescheduled to another day. Qualifying was as usual super close on this difficult circuit. Racers were having trouble making mistake-free runs. Taking Q1 was Don Cheo, with young gun Sean Lee in 2nd. Fazly Ibrahim would come back to as the drier track yielded its first 19-lap run, while Jody Long recovered from a bad Q1 to take 2nd for the round. TQ would be determined in Q3, and it was Jody who finally TQ-ed a round of qualifying, with another 19-lapper, while Fazly finished 2nd. With both Jody and Fazly tied on overall points, it was Fazly who secured the overall TQ on the tiebreak.
