Q2 in Shanghai again goes to JJ Wang

Xray Factory driver JJ Wang continued to stamp his authority on the event as he took another round of qualifying in the modified class at the 3rd round of the 2017 CETC presented by Infinity at RCI V2 in Shanghai. Yokomo factory driver Nicholas Lee once again had to settle for second place, however the gap to Wang in 1st this time was down to just 1.9 seconds as the Singaporean continued to improve. Xray youngster Lao Ming Hao and Awesomatix driver Rocket Zhang maintained their position from the opening round with the former National Champion just 0.2 seconds behind the CETC Rd1 Rising Star winner in 3rd. Rob Janssen wins at Dutch EP On-road Nationals Rd4

Round 4 of the Dutch Electric On-road Nationals was recently held in Groningen in the north of the country. The usually bumpy track underwent a bit of a revision by the club, resulting in less bumps but a lower grip but at the end of the day it was the same for all competitors. Sunday, race day and the drivers were greeted by overnight rain. In the Touring class local racer Sybrand de Boer set the TQ in Q1 and Q2 with Rob Janssen being hot on his heels especially in Q2. In the opening main final and with a different tyre preparation Rob was able to hold contact with Sybrand until it started to rain again and the carnage began. With unusual racing lines Rob was able to get an advantage and he was able to pull away from the field until the others found out. A2 was completely rain soaked and only five drivers dared to attend the final that was ultimately won by Rob who was the fastest on rain tyres and pulling his unusual lines. Also attending in A3 despite having scored the overall win, as every result counts towards the overall championship, it was again Rob who excelled, taking his third win of the day and further improving his lead in the season standings.

BRCA 1/8th IC Track Nationals Rd5 – Report

The fifth round of the BRCA 1/8 Circuit National Championship headed back to the popular Halifax circuit facility. There was a good turnout of around fifty-five drivers across the two classes. Saturday was practice day with drivers working on different setups and trying things ready for Sunday. The weather forecast was good for a change and quite hot for the UK. In the Nitro class, it was very close between the top 4 across qualifying with just over a second and half covering 1st to 4th. With the track conditions getting hotter, drivers found it hard to improve with the fastest times generally set in round one or two. Spashett continued his good form, taking pole position from Mark Green, Neal King and Tim Wood. These drivers seemed to be in a league above the rest. Clive Connolly qualified a superb 5th, also followed by Andrew North, Neil Diver, Jason Frost and Michael Walton completing the line-up for the A-final. Andrew Hastings was very unlucky with engine issues in qualifying but would show his true pace dominating the B-final.
