Dutch 200mm Nitro Touring Championship Rd1 – Report

The opening round of the Dutch 1/10th 200mm Nitro Touring Championship was held at the AMCA track in Apeldoorn over the weekend. Mixed and cold weather conditions made things a bit unpleasant for the drivers and after overnight rain only the first heat was held in dry conditions as rain hit the track again in time for round 2. Daan Jacobs made the best out of the conditions, taking the TQ from Milan Holthuis and Gaston van Kleef in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Bart Mullink doubles at Mach-One Kick Off race

The Dutch Mach-One club hosted their Kick Off 2017 race over the weekend, attracting some 120 entries from Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands to compete in the 1/8th Nitro Buggy and E-Buggy classes. The 3-days event was held on a high grip astro turf track and Agama driver Bart Mullink would sweep the Nitro Buggy and E-Buggy classes by winning both categories in front of Jeffrey Halsema in 2nd and Jarno Pijpers in 3rd in Nitro Buggy while former World champion Daniel Reckward in 2nd and Colin Meijer in 3rd would round out the E-Buggy podium.

Adam Drake wins Open Truggy at JBRL Nitro Series Rd1

The opening round of the 2017 JBRL Nitro Series was held this past weekend at the Pro-Line Raceway in Banning, California. In the Open Truggy class it was Mugen’s Adam Drake who took the TQ and win, leaving TLR’s Tanner Denney behind in second while Expert Buggy A-main winner, Cody King (HB Racing) had to settle for third.

Cody King wins at JBRL Nitro Series Rd1

Round one of the 2017 Jimmy Babcock Racing League Nitro Series was held at the Pro-Line Raceway in Banning, California this past weekend. In the Expert Buggy class HB Racing’s Cody King would take the winning honours in the 15-minute main final from Mugen’s Adam Drake while top qualifier, Austin Blair (SWorkz) had to settle for third overall.

Collari & Mazzeo win at Italian Nitro On-road opener

The opening round of the Italian Nitro On-road National Championship was held at the Fiorano track over the weekend. In the 1/8th Expert class, 9-times World Champion, Infinity’s Lamberto Collari took the win in the highly contested main final with Shepherd’s Marco Vanni coming in 2nd and Infinity’s Dario Balesti rounding out the podium in 3rd.

Pedro Miguel Sousa wins at Portuguese regional Rd1

The opening round of the Portuguese North division regionals was held this past weekend. In the 45-minute main final it was Pedro Miguel Sousa who took the win some two laps in front of Fernando Almeida with Ricardo Abreu completing the top 3 podium result some two seconds short of Fernando.

Yannick Aigoin wins French 1/8th Buggy Nats Rd2

The second round of the French 1/8th Off-road National Championship was held in Charmes-sur-Rhones over the weekend. TLR’s Renaud Savoya would come out on top after the five rounds of qualifying but it was Jerome Aigoin (Xray/Ultimate) who would start from pole position into the 45-minute main final. Due to smaller issues for both Renaud and Jerome it was Yannick Aigoin (Xray/Ultimate) who capitalised, taking the win one lap ahead of Jerome while Renaud (TLR/RC Concept) had to settle for third overall.

Kammer wins East German 1/8 IC Track regionals Rd1

Round one of the East German Nitro On-road regionals was held in Senftenberg on a technical low-grip track. In the 1/8th IC class Toni Gruber (WRC/Novarossi) would take the TQ after the qualifiers in front of the Shepherd/Mikrotek duo of Michael Kammer and Torsten Müller. After the start of the main final Toni took the lead in front of Torsten and Michael. Due to a rain shower shortly before the start of the main the track was pretty difficult to tackle, leading to early mishaps of Toni and later Torsten. Later and due to a thunderstorm the main had to be called a day some 17 minutes into the race, handing Michael Kammer the win from Xray driver Wilfried Stecker with Torsten Müller rounding out the podium.
