Apolaro & Martello win at Pan American GT Race

The 3rd edition of the GT only Pan American GT Race was held on the previous IFMAR Worlds track in Homestead, Florida this past weekend with racers from Puerto Rico, Brazil, Peru, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Curacao, US and other countries in attendance. Paolo Morganti in the Open class and Fabrizio Martello in the 5-port Spec class were the top qualifiers of the weekend and with with only four direct qualified to the A mains, semifinals were full of action and close racing. The one hour mains then saw DJ Apolaro taking the win from Rino Lino and Rablo Tejada while in the Spec class Fabrizio Martello came out successful. Franco Franco Desiderio and Jose Sanchez rounded out the Spec class podium.

Yuichi Kanai wins at Vietnam National Championship

The Vietnam 1/8th Off-Road National Championship was held this past weekend and it was Kyosho’s own Yuichi Kanai who took the TQ and win in the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class. Phan Quang Vinh (Xray) grabbed the vice championship from Mugen driver Thinh Phan. Nam Nguyen (Xray) and Zi Duong (Mugen) rounded out the top 5 result.

David Lim wins at Malaysia National League Rd1

The opening round of the Malaysia National League was held in Shah Alam this past weekend. After missing out on the TQ spot but winning the semifinal David Lim was able to win the 60 minute A-main that was run in very warm conditions with the ambient temperature hitting 36 degree Celsius, making it a demanding race for the competitors.

Hupo Honigl joins Serpent Factory team

Hupo Honigl joins Serpent Factory team

Multiple European offroad Champion Hupo Honigl has joined the Serpent Factory team. The former TeamC driver will race all major offroad events in 1/10th scale 2wd, 4wd, ST and SCT with Spyders, as well as all main 1/8th scale events with the Cobra line, GP and EP, truggy and buggy. With his vast experience he will be a big help to all Serpent drivers, and show the true potential of the Serpent offroad cars in Austria, Germany, USA and elsewhere. He will also run the new Serpent S120 1/12 race chassis and work together with Michael Salven and Paul Ciccarello on the development and test side. Expect to see Hupo make his debut for Serpent at next week’s Reedy race in California. Hupo had this to say:

I’m really proud of being part of Serpent now. Not only as driver but also on the business side through my distribution company Hoeco. After being told to be rejuvenated in the beginning of last year, I feel even younger and more motivated then ever before. After building my first Serpent cars i can tell they are designed by champions and also the quality is amazing! I ́m really looking forward to this new part of my life and hopefully I found my true home.

Wollanka & Pignotti win at VRC Worlds

Martin Wollanka and Kevin Pignotti are the new VRC Worlds title holders in 1:8th Sportscars and 1:10th ISTC respectively. Martin Wollanka from Austria scored a well-deserved title in his 2014 VRC Worlds campaign after having to settle for second in the 1:10 ISTC VRC Worlds right behind Kevin Pignotti. Martin managed to turn things around in 1:8 Sportscars at the Lostallo event, driving to victory with a 4 seconds lead on Kevin Pignotti. New kid on the block Jakub Rozycki from Poland was lapped by Wollanka at the very last lap of the race when he needed a last fuel stop as to make it to the finish line in 3rd.

Reds Racing welcome Jack Embling to the team for the 2015/16 season. At 17 years young, Jack has already established himself as one of the fastest racers in Europe, and classified 10th at the Italian Job Race this past weekend. Jack has to say the following about the deal:

I have been really impressed with the initial running of the Reds engines. They have a really smooth feeling through out the power range while still giving a perfect speed on the top end to make any difficult jumps or long straights. The engines have also proven to be 100 percent reliable so far and I’m really looking forward to a successful 2015 season powered by Reds Racing.

Simon Kurzbuch renews with Shepherd

Simon Kurzbuch renews with Shepherd

Shepherd Micro Racing announce the contract renewal with talented Swiss teamdriver Simon Kurzbuch who will be with the German manufacturer through to 2015. Increasing his skills step by step together with Shepherd in the past years the 2011 World Championship finalist had a very successful 2014 campaign with great showings at the 1/8th Euros, a 3rd place at the 1/10th Euros and he took the overall win in ultra competitive ENS 1/8th class in 2014. Together with his father and his brother as his mechanics he will attend all ENS races to try to defend his title, and he will also race the Swiss National Championship, the 1/8th Euros in Germany and the Worlds in Brazil. Simon has the following to say:

A very successful and exciting season is over. A huge thanks to the whole Team Shepherd for the great support and teamwork. I’m very proud to continue with this great team and their nice products and will do my best to get some good results again this year. See you on the track.

Ryan Maifield wins at Dirt Nitro Challenge warm-up

Ryan Maifield took a TQ and win in the 1/8th Pro Buggy class at the Dirt Nitro Challenge Warm-up. Maifield TQ’ed by a large margin during the 7 minute qualifier and went on to win the A-main with a consistent and quick drive. Team Associated’s Spencer Rivkin finished in the 2nd position showing that the young AZ driver can wheel a 1/8th as well.
