BRCA 1/8 Circuit National Championship Rd7 – Report

With the season into its closing stages, it was back to Mendip at Weston Super Mare for round 7 of 9. With the last two Mendip visits being subjected to rain in the finals, it was third time lucky for a completely dry qualification and finals. With a strong entry of 40 plus drivers, the competition was set to be very strong. With current championship leader Tim Wood absent due to holiday commitments allowed the chasing pack to take full advantage and possibly take over the championship lead at the end of the day. In Saturday practice it was Green who showed good pace early on followed closely by Hastings, Gouveia, Carr and Bancroft.

Dominic Greiner joins Max Power

Dominic Greiner joins Max Power

Sprint RC announce the signing of German front runner Dominic Greiner to run Max Power engines for the remainder of this season and during his 2015 campaign. The Serpent driver will use the engines from the 4th and final ENS round in Fiorano on and Dominic, who will also compete at the IFMAR 200mm World in Thailand, has the following to say:

I would like to thank Picco for the help during the past two years and I look forward to further improve my racing with the help of the Max Power engines.

Abisset & Cesar take French 1/8th on-road titles

Last weekend saw the running of the 5th round of the French 1/8th nitro on-road championship in Grenoble. After a successful racing Summer European B champion Anthony Abisset (Serpent/Racing Experience) took the overall title in the Elite class while Anthony’s teammate Ludovic Cesar (Serpent/Racing Experience) came out successful on his home track to take the title in the National class.

Pietsch & Kraegefski wins German 1/8th nationals

The 2014 German 1/8th scale nitro on-road championships took place this past weekend at the well-known Hollmoorring of the MC Munster located south of Hamburg. The 260 meter track, which hosted European Championships already, offers a challenging layout but has become bumpy over the years. A total of 78 drivers, 48 in class 1 and 30 in class 2, competed in the single-event German championships. The event was well organised and helped by the fact that the expected rain, thunder and lightning stayed away from the track, making it four dray days with only a slight drizzle on Saturday for a few moments. For the second year hand-out tyres were mandatory, this time 32/35 shore front/rear from Contact Tires which worked very well.

Jonatan Marchetti successful at SRC Nitro Race

Reds Racing driver Jonatan Marchetti came out successful in the 1/8th nitro class at the recent SRC Nitro Race by taking the win in front of Massimo Fantini. Jonatan’s Reds teammate Roberto De Cesare completed the podium in 3rd.

JJ Wang wins at KO Propo GP Taiwan

The 2014 KO Propo Grand Prix was held in Taiwan this past weekend. The race saw the attendance of some special guests such as JJ Wang and multi-time World Champion Masami Hirosaka on one of his few Nitro On-road outings. In the 1/8th scale class it then was that certain Mr. Hirosaka who took the TQ after the qualifiers only to score a DNF in the final. Masami’s problems some 20 minutes into the race made way for JJ Wang who took a 1-lap win over Al Huang. Jones Chu completed the top 3 result some further 4 laps down.

French 1/10th Nitro On-road champs Rd5 – Report

The 5th and final round of the French 1/10th 200mm Nitro On-road nationals took place at the Vichy track with over 40 drivers in attendance. In the Elite class Michael Derderian took the TQ from Basile Concialdi and Quentin Leroux while in the Nationals category David Petit scored the fastest time in the qualifiers.

Manuel Dressler wins at Paraguay national champs

The 2014 Paraguay 1/8th off-road national championships were held last weekend with participants from all over the country. At the end of the 45 minute final Serpent driver Manual Dressler took the win with team mate Michael Mende rounding out the podium in 3rd.
