Derderian & Turco win at French 200mm nationals Rd5

The fifth and final round of the French 1/10 200m championship took place at the short and technical track in Montluçon. In the Elite class Michael Derderian won the 45 minute final and this year’s national title some 7 second in front of Basile Concialdi (Capricorn). Quentin Leroux rounded out the podium with another Capricorn car. In the 30 minute National class final Brice Turco (Xray) crossed the finish line 5 seconds in front of Benjamin Berchoux. Stéphane Campourcy (Xray) completed the podium. The win also handed Brice this year’s National class title.

Martin Bayer wins 2013 German Nitro Buggy nats

The second and final round of the German 1/8th Nitro Buggy national championship was held in Bischofsheim near Frankfurt this past weekend. The track will be the host of next year’s European Championship A so the race not only was important for the national championship but also used as preparation for the 2014 Euro. After the rain affected qualifiers Xray’s Martin Bayer took the overall TQ for Sunday’s finals. From the tone Martin was fighting for the lead with Jörn Neumann, Carsten Keller and Daniel Reckward and around the 15 minute mark he was able to build a gap on the field that Martin was able to hold until the finish line. By winning the second and final round the Xray driver also took the overall win. The podium of the Bischofsheim round was completed by Team Durango’s Jörn Neumann and Carsten Keller (Kyosho). The runner-up spot also secured Jörn the second place overall with TLR’s Marcel Guske rounding out the 2013 Top 3.

Robert Battle wins 2013 Italian Job race

For the second year in a row the Maugrafix’s Italian Job Outdoor race was held at the D&R track in Asti. The race had a strong attendance with World Champion Robert Batlle, European Champion David Ronnefalk, French Champion Jerome Aigoin and many other top drivers. After the four rounds of qualifying it was Novarossi team driver Robert Batlle who took the top qualifier position, followed by Berton and Ronnefalk. The 60 minute F1 final was dominated by RobertBatlle and his Mugen. He started from P1 on the grid and never looked back taking the win one lap ahead of Alex Zanchettin (TLR) and Kyosho’s Christoffer Svensson.

Pettit wins E-Buggy & Truggy at Wicked Weekend

The second annual Wicked Weekend took place in Gainesville, Georgia at the Chicopee Agriculture Center. The very nice venue is starting to draw all of the regional talent to the guaranteed no rain out race. A total of 387 entries made their way to central Georgia for a weekend of racing. The format for the event was Friday practice, Saturday Qualifiers, and the Mains on Sunday. After a long day of Qualifying was over, the mains began on Sunday morning. Triple A mains were run in the E-Buggy class. TQ went to JConcepts Driver Barry Pettit with his new Mugen MBX-7 who went on to win in front of Max Fluer and John Michael McGinty. The Nitro Truggy A Main had Barry Pettit in the P1 on the grid. At the tone Pettit hooked up and ran at the front of the field for the first 10 minutes. As fuel stops played out, Barry continued to lead the field all of the way to the finish and wrap up his second class victory of the weekend.

Jacques Libar wins Luxembourg nationals Rd4

Round 4 of the Luxembourg 1/8th scale on-road nationals was held this weekend on the LMCC track in Luxembourg. On Sunday drivers faced dry and good weather, and it was Dirk Richard who took the pole position in front of Jacques Libar and Patrick Beltrallo. The 30 minute main final saw the Xray driver Jacques Libar cross the finishing line in first position, followed by Alexey Yaramishyan with Capricorn in 2nd and Dirk Richard with Serpent in 3rd.

BRCA Truggy & Electric Buggy champs Rd6 – report

The sixth and final round of the BRCA Truggy and Electric 1/8th Buggy Championship again was run at a new venue for the championship. Notts and Derby Off Road club was the location, the track has over the years had a major face-lift from a predominantly 1/5th scale track and does now have some good jump sections moulded into the Astro surface. As the drivers assembled, all eyes were on the top drivers as both of the championships had to be decided on the final day. E8 Buggy started the meeting off and straight away it was evident who was fighting for the championship. Craig Drescher drew the first blood being one of three drivers to complete their run in 9 laps. The second qualifying run saw Stuart Mahon in 4th joining David Crompton and Simon Willetts in the 9 lap club. The final round saw Simon Willetts upsetting the apple cart winning the final qualifying run with an impressive run of 9/322.33. This resulted with the overall TQ position going to Craig Drescher as it as the best two rounds to count.

Magnus Björndal wins Northern Swedish Cup Rd5

After several weeks of preparation and many late nights Skellefteå-MS was ready to host the fifth round of the Northern Swedish Cup for 1/8th off-road buggies. In the the 45 minute A final that also saw two junior drivers competing, Victor Öhrvall and Emil Edlund, Patrik Bodén looked like a potential winner, but after several problems he had to retire. Magnus Björndal showed no mercy and took home the win with no problems in front of Bjorn Engman and Ulf Stenvall. The best Junior, Victor Öhrvall who finished in sixth place was followed closely by the next junior, Emil Edlund.
