The good guys at Flowood RC Indoor Park dropped us a mail to tell us about their biggest and most important race of the year for FRC, the third Annual Bring The Heat race, which will run from July 19-21. Recently crowned National Champion Adam Drake will be returning for his third year to defend his crown at FRC and Ronda Drake will also be there and they have some surprise racers attending this year that have not been to FRC before. FRC are taking the first 350 paid entries so if you have not signed up or paid go to www.rcsignup.com and do so now. The organisers will be giving away over $25,000 worth of donated product to the racers this year from their sponsors. You can find more information here.

Adam Drake takes GRRS final round win

Adam Drake takes GRRS final round win

This past weekend Thunder Alley hosted the final round of the Grass Roots Racing Series attracting nearly 150 entries. The track was hard packed and very technical. Cody King TQ’d round one of buggy and newly crowned National Champion Adam Drake took the second round, but wasn’t able to beat Cody’s time from round one. In the final Cody and Adam had a great battle and were never more than a few seconds apart until the end when Cody ran out of fuel with two laps to go. Drake took the win by a lap over Matt Schreffler with Cody King holding on for third. Adam used Pro-Line M3 Holeshot 2.0’s in M3 compound for qualifying and the twenty minute final.

2013 HPI Challenge - Announcement

HPI Racing Europe have been in contact to tell is that the 4th of August and the 28th of September mark the return of the HPI Challenge, with on and offroad racing classes organized at two of the country’s leading venues. The 4th of August marks the return of the HPI Challenge for all on-road racers and HPI touring car kit owners with racing taking place at the Cotswolds Model car club in Gloucestershire. Every racer will get a complete set (2 pairs) of top-quality HPI Challenge racing slick tyres, an HPI T-shirt and a HPI goodie bag with lots of HPI freebies inside. The 28th of September is the day for off-road HPI kit owners, with the event organised at the wonderful Coventry Model Car Club. Whether you’ve got a Savage monster truck, nitro buggy or electric truggy, they’ve got you all covered. Full details on the event can be found here.

May & Friedrich win at Pro Stock Series Rd3

This past weekend saw the 3rd round of the Pro Stock Series taking place at the Kastellaun Race Track. The unique feature of this racing series are the standard Sonic/Xceed engines that are mandatory and must not be modified in any way. 25 drivers in 2 classes went out for some nice racing. The weather forecast for both days was okay although the Saturday was supposed to be the better day. With former Austrian 1/12th national champion Martin Wilfinger (Shepherd) and former Tamiya World Champion Patrick Gassauer (Serpent) the drivers list showed interesting names. Also the overall winner of 2011 Marcus May and last years runner-up Sascha Vorgrümler (both Shepherd) took the challenge.

Romanian Nitro Cup - Announcement

The organizers of the Romanian Nitro Cup got in contact to tell us about their annual competition for 1/10th and 1/8th scale IC on road nitro cars which this year will be held from the 30th of August to the 1st of September 20th to the 22nd of September. It is a private event with important prizes and the rules are kept as simple and as fair as possible for the drivers. Entries are limited to 60 drivers per class, if the number of entries in one class is lower than 60 the other class can be supplemented. The event will be held on the beautiful new Hobby Arena track near Bucharest and to make it event more interesting both classes offer prize money of EUR 1000 for the winner, EUR 700 for 2nd place and EUR 400 for 3rd. Markus Hellquist is 1/10th Nordic Champion 2013

Having covered 1/8th and 1/10th Electric from last weekend’s Nordic Championship in Oslo, Norway we now have the report from the 1/10th 200mm class. The race was originally a 2 days event, with qualifying on Saturday and the finals running on Sunday. Saturday gave great weather but the weather forecast for Sunday was indicating over 30mm of rain. After an extended driver’s meeting it was decided that the race was to be changed to a 1 day event, with the last final running half past nine in the evening. This was not a problem since the sun is up almost until midnight in Oslo.

Jerome Aigoin retains French title with Rd4 win

Kyosho/Novarossi driver Jerome Aigoin has successfully defended his French 1/8th offroad buggy title today after winning the 45 minute A-main at Rd4 of the championship in Longvic, close to Dijon. Qualifying would set the tone for the rest of the race with Jerome making his intentions known early taking the top spot ahead of Xray driver Renaud Savoya in 2nd with Yannick Aigoin (Associated) and Jerome Sartel (Agama) completing the top 4. The Semi finals would see the main contenders getting through to the main event, with Yannick having problems eventually lining up 9th. In the final Jerome Aigoin would come out victorious, with over a lap on Jerome Sartel in 2nd, with Edouard Hugon completing the podium in 3rd a lap further back. Savoya and fellow former European Champion Yannick Aigoin had troubled races and would end up 11th and 12th respectively.

HNMC Grand Prix – Announcement

HNMC Grand Prix - Announcement

The organisers of the HNMC Grand Prix, which takes place from the 24th to the 26th of August, has been in touch to tell us about their race meeting. Run at the well known Herts Nitro Model Club, host of the first round of this year’s BRCA Nationals, the race is open to 1/8th Buggy (120), E-Buggy (30) and Truggy (16), with the race proper getting underway on Saturday with practice and 1 round of qualifying, with 5 more rounds of qualifying on Sunday before a full schedule of finals on the bank holiday monday.
