Pedro Rombouts wins Rd3 of Dutch 1/10th Nats

Round 3 of the Dutch 1/10th 200mm National Championships was held last weekend at the technical Gouda track in the middle of the country. Saturday’s practice was very wet and so nobody got any track time to find a setup for this tricky track, meaning Sunday’s early qualifying rounds saw some people struggling. Qualifying in the NK class went the way of reigning Champion Pedro Rombouts, with Arco de Jong, Sander Borghoff and Remy Moller completing the top 4. In the final the top 2 remained unchanged with Pedro taking the win by less than a lap from Arco, with Dennis van Lameren completing the podium in 3rd. In the Nomac class it was Bart van de Water that was the clear winner from Ad Vissenberg in 2nd with Marcel Haenen in 3rd spot. The Kyosho Sport class was won by Jos Remmerde from Wouter Horselenberg and Mark Been while in the Kyosho Start class Mats van Kleef won with Lars Hovingh in 2nd and Danial Khalesi 3rd.

Bill Bridges Benefit race

Bill Bridges Benefit race

The Bill Bridges Benefit race was at “The Track” in Carleton, Michigan this past weekend. This is Bill’s home outdoor track in the summer and the classes raced consisted of both electric and nitro with the event attracting more than 300 entries. It was amazing to see so many racers and manufacturers come together for this great cause. Racing started at 9am and the mains finished just before 2am. The event raised a substantial amount of money which will help Bill and his family in the months to come. The event itself saw a double win for Losi/Novarossi driver Adam Drake in both buggy and truck with Jason Jakubczyk doing the double in the electric class taking his Kyosho/Orion combo to wins in the mod buggy and SCT mod classes. The event also saw the winners of both Adam’s 8ight and Dustin’s TLR22 picked and it was Pat Schreffler and Dean Ferrari respectively that took them home. Bill’s wife Chrissey had this to say “I want to thank everyone that came out to the benefit race this weekend. We are beyond blessed to have you in our lives and to be able to call you friends. A heavy burden has been lifted off of our family. It meant so much to Bill to see so many people rooting for him. This race did wonders for his spirits!! RC Racers pulled together for an amazing event!! We will be forever grateful!!”

Portugese-200mm-regioinals-rd3

The third round of the Portuguese 1/10 scale 200mm nitro regionals was held at the Circuito Automodelismo do Funchal. In the main final the hot ambient temperatures meant that the engines would make five minutes on a tank of fuel and therefore extra pit stops were needed for refuelling. Also the track temperatures of 65 degrees Celsius let tire wear became an issue. Serpent driver Paulo Rodrigues started from pole position followed by Mugen drivers Hugo Exposto and Rui Cortez. Luis Cortez, the current champion and championship leader had fuel problems in the half final and started from fouth position. In the opening stage of the race Luis Cortez took the lead followed by Hugo Exposto and Paulo Rodrigues.
