2022 MonacoRC Race of Champions – Report

This past weekend MonacoRC organised the first ROC (Race Of Champions) organised in at the Monacorc Arena Ciserano in Italy. This first race took place on one of the best indoor asphalt tracks in Italy where the high grip and perfect curbing makes this place fantastic. The target of ROC is not only about racing, MonacoRC also organised customer support, having one representative present from many of the big brands in the RC market such as Xray, LRP, Hudy, Xtreme Aerodynamics, HotRace, Marka and many others, providing the best support to every driver present. The race schedule was made on time having a live stream with 4 different cameras on the track so everyone was able to follow this great race around the world that had 10 different nationalities of drivers present in 5 classes FWD, N22, F1, Stock EFRA and Modified.

MonacoRC Race of Champions – Announcement

MonacoRC have announced their Race of Champions event that will take place at the MonacoRC Arena in Ciserano, Italy from the 26th to 27th of March. Set to be a highly competitive event across 5 classes (Mod, Stock EFRA, Stock N22, FWD and Formula), the race has already confirmed a number of top racers in each class with Bruno Coelho, Alexander Hagberg, Antoine Brunet & Michele Manzo heading the Mod entries along with Stefan Schulz (FWD), Àdàm Izsay (Stock), Jitse Miedema and Renè Kölbel (F1) also confirmed. While first of all it is a race, the main focus is on helping racers with their setup and technical understanding and so to that end Jürgen Lautenbach from LRP, David Loppini from Xtreme, Nicola Marrone from Hot Race and Martin Hudy from Xray will be present and on hand to help out anyone with tips on how to improve your performance. Coelho leads X4 dominance of TC classes at Snowbirds

The world famous Snowbird Nationals was held for the 28th time in Kissimmee, near Orlando, Florida, in the USA recently and Xray driver Alexander Hagberg sent this report. This unique on-road and oval race saw a total of over 600 entries combined between these two disciplines. The Xray team was in full attendance, not only with the US team drivers, but also with a big European team once again. The prestigious TC Modified class was dominated by Xray X4 cars. Reigning world champion Bruno Coelho converted his TQ into a win in the final, at this first ever appearance at the Snowbird Nationals. Bruno TQ’ed 3 out of 4 rounds of qualifying, and Alexander Hagberg took the TQ in the very first round. Alex was demoted to 3rd overall in the standings in the final after a few mistakes which allowed Sam Isaacs to take the runner up spot.

Völker wins ETS Rd5 in Daun and is overall champion

ETS Rd5 took place at the Sporthotel Grafenwald in Daun/GER last weekend. The race saw 285 racers in the six ETS classes, and the event started with a free practice day on Thursday, followed by 4 rounds of qualifying and triple finals for everybody. The track layout was technical, challenging, and perfect for some intense ETS racing. In the Matrix Modified class it was a two-horse race for the win between Marc Rheinard and Ronald Völker. After a hard fight in qualifying, with both drivers taking two out of four rounds, Völker was able to secure the pole position with the faster overall runtime compared to Rheinard. Christopher Krapp was in striking distance to the leaders all time and lined up third on the grid.

2022 BRCA 1/12th Rd1 & Rd2 report

Rounds 1 and 2 of the BRCA 12th Circuit Section Nationals were held last weekend in Eastbourne. This was the first national competition for the section since before the pandemic so was well anticipated. There has been a change to the format of the series with the LMP12 and GT Circuit sections combining forces and offering a GT12 class and a 13.5 stock LMP12 class. The championship is being held over 6 rounds with 4 counting rounds. The Eastbourne club laid out a large track at their Robertsbridge facility using the excellent carpet used at the 2020 World Championships. On first impressions the track layout looked quite intimidating but was actually a fast and flowing track that would test the skills of all the drivers. There was a capacity entry of 30 GT12 drivers and 56 LMP12 drivers.

2022 Charity Race – Report

The 2022 edition of the iconic Charity Race took place last weekend at the RC Landia indoor track in Scandiano (Italy). As always, the proceeds from entry fees as well as the traditional end-of-race lottery with prizes offered by numerous sponsors will be used to purchase medical material for the paediatric ward of the nearby Reggio Emilia hospital. The race saw a solid entry which confirms that the event is now a great classic on the international calendar and the smooth running was guaranteed by the federal ACI Sport protocols for RC Racing and the approval of relevant local authorities. In Touring Modified, Bruno Coelho (Xray) dominated the race with TQ and final victory ahead of Gabriele Berselli (Awesomatix) and Michele Romagnoli (Mugen).

Kyle McBride joins SWorkz factory team

Top Australian racer Kyle McBride has joined the SWorkz factory race team for 2022 and beyond. The former Tekno driver made the announcement on his social media saying ‘I am extremely proud and over the moon to finally announce to the world that I have officially signed and will be a professional RC driver for Team Sworkz for 2022 and beyond! I want to give a sincere and special thank you to Max Sonnleitner and Scott Yang for officially bringing me on board to the team and company. We have many big plans together and I look forward to growing a strong relationship and working towards all of our goals and dreams together!’

Coelho wins epic battle with Rheinard at ETS Rd4

ETS Rd4 took place at Chuck’s Raceway in Neumünster/GER last weekend. The ETS crew organised the event under strict Covid-19 rules, and everybody was vaccinated or recovered and an additional daily test was responsible for the maximum safety of all participants. The race saw 220 entries in six classes and the event started with a free practice day on Thursday, followed by 4 rounds of qualifying and triple finals for everybody. In the Matrix Modified class, Bruno Coelho was able to come out of qualifying on top of the field. Marc Rheinard lined up directly behind him with a fantastic driving Michele Manzo in third, and championship leader Ronald Völker in fourth position.
