Ty Tessmann joins ProTek

ProTek R/C have announced the signing of Xray’s Ty Tessmann to the team. The former Team Orion factory driver will be running the full line of ProTek batteries, chargers and accessories in 2018. Look for Ty’s ProTek powered Xray vehicles to make their official debut at the upcoming Reedy Race of Champions.

Orlowski holds overnight TQ at DHI Cup

Michal Orlowski holds the overnight TQ in 2WD Offroad at the DHI Cup.  The Schumacher driver completed a successful first day at the 18th running of the Danish event by posting TQ runs in the opening two qualifiers. Behind the reigning champion it is Team Associated’s Jesper Rasmussen who sits second, the Dane opening his home event with a P2 in Q1 which he then followed up with 3rd in the second round.  Second fastest to Orlowski in Q2, 13-year-old Elias Johnsson finds himself sitting third overall ahead of fellow Swede David Ronnefalk.  Having topped seeding, Ronnefalk made too many errors in each qualifier declaring afterwards, ‘the driver was not on point today’.

Volker fastest from Harper in DHI Cup practice

Ronald Volker was fastest in practice for this year’s DHI Cup, the Yokomo driver leading the way from the Schumacher of Elliott Harper. With the 18th running of the Danish Classic void of reigning champion Viljami Kutvonen, it was previous 7-time Champion Volker who came out of controlled practice quickest. Topping free practice, Volker wouldn’t be second quickest in the CP1 as returning Yokomo team-mate Yannic Prumper topped the times. While Prumper would repeat his time in CP2, Volker would find half a second to go to the top with Harper finding a similar improvement leaving Prumper to drop to P5 behind Marc Rheinard and former champion Viktor Wilck.

Orlowski fastest in 4WD practice

Reigning DHI Cup Champion Michal Orlowski set the quickest time in 4WD practice, the Schumacher driver leading the times from Karri Salmela and Jesper Rasmussen.  Second fastest behind David Ronnefalk in the earlier 2WD practice, Orlowski would end 4WD with 6/10ths of a second advantage over Salmela while Ronnefalk, the only other driver in the Top 8 to improve his time in the final practice, ended up P4.

Ronnefalk tops 2WD practice at DHI Cup

David Ronnefalk set the fastest time in 2WD practice at the DHI Cup this morning in Denmark, the HB Racing driver quickest from back to back reigning champion Michal Orlowski. Winner of the event in 2015, Ronnefalk set a fastest 3-consecutive lap time of 57.514 compared to Orlowski’s 57.597 with the Top 3 completed by 13-year-old Elias Johansson with a time of 57.955. With the event marking 7-time DHI Offroad Champion Joern Neumann’s debut for Schumacher, the German kicked off this new partnership with the 6th fastest time.

Ty Tessmann Hobbywing-powered for 2018 and beyond

In a statement on social media Xray’s Ty Tessmann has announced his new partnership with Hobbywing. The Canadian ace leaves behind a very fruitful and long-lasting campaign with Team Orion but he left the outfit at the end of last year and will be using Hobbywing controller and motors from now on. The 2014 IFMAR 1/8th Buggy World and 14-times ROAR National Champion says:

I would like to announce that after a lot of testing and thought, I have chosen to run for Hobbywing for my 1/10 and 1/8 electric program for the next two years and beyond. I am very happy to become a part of the leading electronics company and look forward to some great success in the future. I want to thank Salton Dong and Mr. Jack Zhang for this opportunity with Hobbywing. My debut race will be the Reedy Race of Champions.

Jörn Neumann teams up with Schumacher

Schumacher Racing welcome multi-time former EOS, Reedy Race Champion and Worlds top qualifier Jörn Neumann to the team. Jörn has a racing pedigree of the highest order including most recently super strong performances at the Off Road Worlds in China and Schumacher are pleased to strengthen the off-road team with the German, alongside their long term and recently re-signed Michal Orlowski. Jörn’s first races will be the DHI Cup in Denmark and Reedy Race in the USA and he had the following to say:

I would first like to thank Robin, Mark, Trish and Norbert for this great opportunity to run for Schumacher. I am looking forward for a superb future with a fantastic team. Onto a successful 2018.

Robert Batlle Ninja-powered for 2018 and beyond

Following his split with 2017 engine suppliers Picco, Spanish 1/8th off-road super star Robert Batlle will run Ninja engines in 2018 and beyond. The Spaniard leaves behind a somewhat mixed season, however his 2017 campaign was crowned by a third European Championship title that he hopes to build on in 2018. Robert says:

Hello guys! I am Ninja engines driver for the upcoming years! I would like to thank Sanada San, all #mugenfamily and, of course, Stefan from MSE for believing in me for this awesome project. Since now I will represent our complete package of car/engine around the world, it motivates me a lot!
