ETS enters new decade in Vienna

After celebrating the completion of 10 seasons of world class racing back in July, the Yokomo Euro Touring Series is set to enter into a second decade of high profile competition as Vienna hosts the opening round of Season #11 this weekend (27-29 October). Taking place as part of the ‘Modellbau 2017’ model show in the Austrian Capital, the 58th race of the ETS also marks the 8th consecutive season of Yokomo being the title sponsor of the Uwe Rheinard and Scotty Ernst created championship with the Japanese manufacturer one of a number of teams looking to take on the domination of a certain Bruno Coelho. As back to back champion, Coelho enters into only his fourth season of the ETS as the pre-season favourite. Also champion of the Euro Offroad Series and the Euro Nitro Series, last season the Xray driver claimed a record 5 wins from 6 races and getting fed up of being in the shadow of the Portuguese driver his rivals are more determined than ever to change this over the coming season.

Nicolas Lee sweeps 2017 TIPS Championship

The 2017 Tamiya-Infinity-PRCA-Singapore Championship was held this past weekend. The event was held in the four classes of Touring Modified, Touring Boosted, Truck and Tamiya Mini and it attracted drivers from Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Sweden as well as local talent. The race was held on a pretty big nitro track and despite its size it made for some close racing. In the Touring Modified class it was Nicholas Lee who took the opening qualifier by 0.076 seconds from Akio Sobue and Nicholas also walked away with the TQ in the third qualifier, ahead of Akio Sobue and Naoto Matsukura, putting him in a good position for the overall TQ.

Cody King announced HB Racing split & RC retirement

2010 IFMAR 1/8th Nitro Buggy World Champion, Cody King has announced his spilt from HB Racing and his retirement from RC racing. Rumours about his move circulated already last week with the question about his racing future now pushing him to officially announce his, possibly temporary, move away from the world’s RC tracks. In a statement on social media Cody says:

Hello all. I have had a few questions about my sponsorship arrangement with HB. I would like to announce I have parted ways with HB effective immediately. I have nothing but good things to say about HB and the opportunities they gave me, and I’m sorry it didn’t work out. This is a difficult time for me, and unfortunately I have to step away from RC for a while for personal reasons. I can’t say for sure what the future holds in RC for me going forward, but I hope you will respect my privacy while I take time to make decisions. Thanks for understanding, and perhaps I will be back out at the track before too long.

Coelho does the double at EOS Poland

Bruno Coelho has opened the new season of the Euro Offroad Series in the best way possible with the Xray driver doing the double in Poland adding the 4WD win to yesterday’s 2WD victory with another faultless performance in A2.  Also securing the bonus point on offer for the TQ, the reigning 4WD Champion finds himself already three points in the lead of both the 2WD & 4WD standings.  Having secured his first ever EOS double at the penultimate round of last season’s championship, today’s 4WD victory marks the World Champion’s 7th win in the class setting him up perfectly to become the first driver to do equal Joern Neumann record of 3-consecutive EOS title wins.  Behind Coelho the 4WD podium would be, as it was in 2WD, an all Xray affair with Bayer winning A3 to secure second overall with Daniel Kobbevik having a great weekend to claim his first EOS podium.  Ty Tessmann would claim 4th on his EOS debut with David Ronnefalk best of the rest, the HB Racing driver being the top non Xray driver with 5th, having been in contention for a podium placing before a coming together with Tessmann in A3.

Coelho wins A1 from Kobbevik

Bruno Coelho has taken an easy win in the first A-Main of 4WD at the Euro Offroad Series in Poland.  The Xray driver quickly pulled clear of the field from his TQ starting position to have an uneventful race.  Behind the reigning champion however there was plenty of action with Daniel Kobbevik picking up the pieces after errors by his more senior rivals.  David Ronnefalk would complete the Top 3, the 1:8 World Champion showing good pace against Ty Tessmann and Martin Bayer but coming together with the latter during the 5-minute encounter.

Coelho to start title defence from pole

Bruno Coelho is to start his 4WD title defence from pole with the Xray driving securing the overall 4WD TQ in Warsaw, Poland.  The Portuguese driver went into the fourth & final qualifier with only team-mate Martin Bayer able to deny him from becoming Top Qualifier for a second time at the Euro Offroad Series season opener.  Setting the TQ pace from team-mate Ty Tessmann he however suffered a CVD failure on his final lap allowing Tessmann post his first TQ run of his EOS debut weekend.  Behind, David Ronnefalk would back up his P3 in Q3 with a second for the round.  This result will see the HB Racing driver start as the best non Xray driver in 4th behind Bayer and youngster Daniel Kobbevik, Xray having a total of six cars in the A-Main.
