RC Lemans Series Rd3 – Report

Round three of this year’s RC Lemans Series was held at the popular Ville de Luxembourg track. Warm weather during Saturday’s practice made for exceptional traction that would increase even further during the qualifiers. At the end of an eventful qualifying current championship leader Tim Altmann would place his car on the TQ spot with reining champion Tobias Weist on the 2 spot just 0.6s behind. Both were able to score maiden 18 laps runs with Tobias setting a new Pro10 track record with a 16.704s. Behind the two Philipp Paul came in third in his first start of the season. Joachim Behnken, Jaques Libar and Reinder Wilms completed the top 6 of the LMP1 Modified class.

Silvio Hächler wins JITC Jakarta Open

The recent JITC Open was held in Jakarta, Indonesia with the event attracting a range of international top drivers such as reigning World Champion Simon Kurzbuch along the likes of Jilles Groskamp, Teemu Leino, Silvio Hächler or Andy Moore. In the 7-minute qualifier it was Simon Kurzbuch who snatched the top spot followed by Jilles Groskamp and Jesse Davis. In the 45 minute A-main final it was a close race in super hot racing conditions and in the end Swiss ARC driver Silvio Hächler was crowned the 2016 Jakarta Open champion, followed by the Infinity drivers Jilles Groskamp and Chavit Sirigupta.

Jilles Groskamp dominates ULTI World Cup

The Marine Parade Radio Control Modellers Club in Singapore played host to the ULTI World Cup this past weekend. The event attracted some of the World’s fastest nitro on-road drivers such as Jilles Groskamp, Andy Moore, Teemo Leinoo and others. In the hour long 1/8th class A-main final, Jilles Groskamp came out successful from Charit in second, who ended the race some 2 laps short of Jilles. Jesse Davis completed podium result in third.

Fabio Ferrero wins Chile National Championship

The international Chile On-road Championship recently took place at the CACH track near Santiago de Chile. Eduardo Giardino lead the qualifiers followed by Argentinian driver Fabio Ferrero and Alvaro Jara who secured themselves a direct spot in the main final. The final race began with a great battle between Fabio Ferrero and Eduardo Giardino. After 24 laps Fabio Ferrero moved to the front and led the race until the chequered flag.

Rick Vrielijnck teams up with Capricorn

Italian company Capricorn have announced the signing of Rick Vrielijnck to their team. The former BMT driver, multi-time Dutch champion, Euro-A and Worlds A-finalist and  will attend all major events in 2016 and he has the following to say about the deal:

I would like to let everyone know that from now on I will race for team Capricorn. I understand that it is not very loyal and common to switch teams after such a short period however I felt that we were working in a completely different direction. Exactly for this reason I think Capricorn is the best team since they are always working to improve their products and setups. Fortunately Patrizio Rossi wanted to work with me also so I am very happy to join team Capricorn for a long term.

Maifield, Sartel & Monteiro win at 2016 TLR Cup

The Noeux les Mines in France track played host to the 2016 TLR Cup over the weekend. The event attracted a good amount of national drivers and also guest from abroad such as TLR’s Ryan Maifield and Dakotah Phend to battle against Europe’s fastest TLR drivers. In the premier Nitro Buggy class Ryan Maifield would grab the TQ from Renaud Savoya while Marco Baruffolo rounded out the top 3. In the Nitro Truggy category Jerome Sartel came out fastest after the qualifiers from Matt Lewis and Vincent Berthelot while in 1/8th E-Buggy Dakotah Phend took the TQ honours from Jean-Pierrick Sartel and Ryan Maifield.

Coelho puts it up to ETS rivals with convincing Italian asphalt win

Bruno Coelho has put it up to his title rivals by taking a convincing win today at the first asphalt round of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Italy. Handed an easy win in A1, the Top Qualifier would wrap up an extra early win in Riccione with another unchallenged win in A2. With the finals run early due to the impending threat of rain at the first outdoor race of ETS Season #9, completing the perfect weekend gives the Xray driver an extended lead in the championship standings as he becomes the season’s first double winner. With Marc Rheinard ending up with a 3rd for Round 4 behind A3 winner Viljami Kutvonen, the Tamiya driver is now 5 points behind Coelho with two races remaining in which to reverse that deficit. With reigning champion Ronald Volker only fifth in Italy, his quest for a 6th consecutive title is looking increasingly difficult as he leaves 7-points behind Coelho.

David Ronnefalk TQs & wins Buggy Euros warm-up

The RC Redovan track in Alicante in the south-east of Spain played host to the EFRA 1/8th Nitro Buggy European Championship warm-up race this past weekend. As annual the warm-up attracted both the hosting country’s fastest drivers as well as a good amount of guests to get some laps under their belts in preparation for the main event later in the year. HB’s David Ronnefalk would take the overall TQ after the four qualifying rounds from Kyosho’s Elliott Boots while the Mugen duo of Oscar Baldo and Joan Carlos Canas rounded out the top 4. In the semifinals disaster stoke for Elliott who suffered mechanical issues while leading his semi, denying him a place in the main final. David Ronnefalk though would cement his dominant performance by taking the pole position for the main from Oscar Baldo and Robert Batlle (Mugen). The 45 minute main final then again had David coming out fastest, some 25 seconds in front of Oscar Baldo while Robert brought home the final podium spot, one lap short of Oscar.
